There are routes to the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and more besides. Scenic Tintagel, with its mysterious links to King Arthur and of course Port Isaac, are all within reach and offer walks, pubs, cafés and quirky cottages. To the south lies Fowey, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, featuring wonderful architecture, the famous Regatta and a popular Christmas Market. Traditional pubs are close by for Sunday lunches, afternoon tea or evening meals, which all come highly recommended.
    St Breward’s Poldark country is perfect for hiking explorers. Other scenic walks include St Necturns Glenn’s Waterfall, with many other scenic walks along the rugged Cornish north coastal paths.     Before Warleggan was linked to the A38 in 1953 and more recently to the A30 it was considered one of the remotest parts of the county, now a mere 4 miles from the dual carriageway this hamlet offers fabulous links to both the North Coast and its glorious golden sands, secluded coves and wild promontories but also the pretty fishing villages and artists retreat along the South Coast including Looe and Polperro, the Eden project, Lanhydrock House and the start of the Camel trail. The A30 is half a mile away, which gives amazing access to all parts of Cornwall, from the stunning beaches on the North Coast with acres of golden sands to the cute, traditional fishing villages to the south.
    The National Lobster Hatchery at Padstow neighbours Rick Stein’s empire on the North Coast. The Bodmin and Wenford Railway, the first steam-operated railway in Cornwall, takes in 13 miles of countryside. Also just outside Bodmin is the Camel Valley Vineyard who won awards for their homegrown wine for the past 20 years. The National Trust have three properties nearby Lanhydrock House, Trerice and Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps. Slightly further afield is the Eden Project in St Austell. Beach 11.2 miles.

    Less than 2 miles from Bodmin. This area is a great place to explore by bicycle and you can either bring your own or hire them locally and roam along the nearby Camel Trail. Barn Cottage is an ideal base for touring the whole of Cornwall with a host of nearby sandy beaches such as Polzeath, Harlyn and Trevone. Classic Cornish villages such as Fowey, Mevagissey, Port Isaac and Boscastle are all within easy reach, as is the bustling fishing town of Looe. The famous Eden Project is well worth a visit as is the stately home at Lanhydrock, both just a few minutes away. The beautiful River Fowey is accessible for walks at various points nearby including Golitha Falls and Respryn, with their ancient beech woodlands, and in the former Cornish capital of Lostwithiel. Lanhydrock golf course is approximately one mile away for those desiring a leisurely round or two!
    The oldest part of Bodmin is made up of mainly granite buildings clustered around the Bodmin Beacon. The Beacon is a 144 feet tall obelisk in memory of Sir Walter Raleigh Gilbert. The area around the Beacon which has woodland and traditional hay meadow was declared a Local Nature Reserve in 1994. The 18-mile Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths, providing a flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge out to Padstow, eminently suitable for families.
