Entering this delightful, converted single-storey cottage for two, you will find space to hang your coats and leave your shoes. The contemporary and beautifully tiled shower room is off the hallway and has a walk-in shower, illuminated mirror above the wash basin and a toilet. Heading into the open plan living space, you will be met with two comfortable sofas to relax on with a Smart TV for your entertainment. A Velux roof window adds to the light and airy feel of the space. The kitchen has an extending dining table where you can enjoy your meals together. You can then enjoy a relaxing night’s sleep in the cosy bedroom, which comes complete with a double bed and open storage for all of your things.
Outside there is a shared paved area with bench-style seating. If you have a dog, you are more than welcome to exercise them in the owner’s fields within the grounds. There is a lovely tea room on site serving food and drink everyday and a complimentary pass to Beamish, the open air museum, which is not to be missed. There is also a large open woodland assured picnic area right next door which is perfect for some al-fresco dining, along with a selection of country walking and cycling trails nearby. You can walk down to Causey Arch, the world’s oldest single-arch bridge and even take a trip on the oldest existing steam train in the world at the local Tanfield railway.

This charming, 17th-century, detached farmhouse, adjacent to the owner’s home, is situated in 7-acres of private grounds, with stunning views of the Rede Valley. Situated on the Pennine Way, on the outskirts of Byrness Village, close to the Northumberland National Park and only 5 miles from the Scottish border, this is a great area for walkers. Byrness House is also located in the middle of a gold award Dark Sky Area in the darkest patch, perfect for astronomers and star gazers, and only 12 miles from Keilder observatory and park. An ideal base for friends and family to get together for holidays or special occasions. Outdoor pursuits are a huge attraction in the area, and a favourite location for walkers and adventure seekers. For golfers, there is a golf course 17 miles away in the nearby village of Bellingham. The well equipped farmhouse kitchen, large dining room and living room ensures a relaxing evening after exploring the many visitor attractions in what is reputedly the friendliest county in England. Explore the heritage coastline with coastal walks starting in the village or visit Alnwick with its majestic castle and one of the biggest water gardens in Europe, 7 miles away. Amble harbour and marina are 5 miles, whilst Bamburgh Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle and Seahouses are around a 30-minute drive away. Boat trips to the Farne Islands leave from Seahouses to see the puffins and seals, or you can take a trip to Holy Island when the tide is out by driving over the causeway. Beach and golf course 2 minutes’ walk. There is on road parking, and you can sometimes manage to park opposite the cottage where there is space for three cars. There is a pub/restaurant and hotel in the old part of the village, two licensed cafes and a village shop nearby.

Take a trip across the causeway (at low tide) to Holy Island, a few miles further up the rugged and unspoilt coastline.

Newonstead Bothy is the ideal relaxing hideaway for a well-deserved holiday or short break, where you can completely switch off and unwind. With lovely light and airy rooms and far-reaching country views, this semi-detached barn conversion is a wonderful place to stay in. On cool evenings you have the marvellous wood burner to curl up in front of.
Set on the owner’s upland hill farm, and slightly off the beaten track, it’s idyllic for couples wishing to cycle and walk, with or without a dog. Whilst the location is set in the countryside, you really only are a couple of miles from the main road network so exploring this beautiful county is easy from Newonstead Bothy. The well-equipped kitchen has seating for four, just in case you want to invite friends over, and there is a fabulous large wall map of the county so you can plan all your day trips. On entering to the property, there is a large porch for storing all your outdoor equipment and outside is a storage area for bicycles. The owners provide a welcome tea tray and have added maps which shows which fields and walks you can have access too. In spring the owners are happy to show you the lambs and answer any of your questions.
The wonderful National Trust Property of Wallington Hall and Gardens is only 5 miles away. Matfen Hall, Spa and Golf Centre is only 10 miles, and you can drive down to Corbridge in 20 minutes. This is a lovely old Roman town with plenty of lovely pubs and cafés. The pick-your-own fruit farm and café is only half an hour for you to enjoy in summer. You really can travel all over the county from Newonstead Bothy, then come home and relax in this lovely location.
