To the first floor the character of the cottage is fully evident with beamed ceilings and cottage windows offering views of the countryside. Externally, a good sized front terrace opens on to the lawn, where neighbouring chickens might pop over the wall to say hello!
    Membership for the local hotel leisure facilities is also included for all guests where there is a swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi. The Lyth Valley is a glorious area for walkers and cyclists to enjoy. Just a short drive away from the peace and quiet guests can pop in to the historic market town of Kendal or much loved Windermere and Bowness nearby. Kendal, sitting on the River Kent offers something for everyone, including culture, history, an eclectic mix of retailers and a wealth of cafés and international restaurants. A few miles away, Lake Windermere offers steamer rides across the lake and the traditional Lakeland villages that dot its shores. Both Bowness and Windermere are able to offer a good selection of independent retailers, pavement cafés and traditional inns. Likewise, the many hamlets and villages in the area offer visitors a glimpse into Lakeland life and a choice of walks – glorious fell routes or picturesque riverside rambles, the choice is yours.     You’ll be on the right track during your stay at The Station Master’s House, which forms part of the former railway station in the hamlet of Torver. Close to Coniston Water, this is an excellent starting point to explore the nearby countryside and wildlife, and the Lakeland Fells including Coniston Old Man. The property has been thoughtfully furnished throughout, with a well-equipped kitchen and a living/dining room which boasts comfy leather sofas. The property offers two double bedrooms, one of which has an additional single bed, and they both have sumptuous bed linen adding an extra comfort. They both enjoy views over the beautiful garden and surrounding area. This spacious cottage still has the distinctive feel of its former use, with a raised lawned terrace which is part of the old platform - the perfect place to sit and relax.
    The nearby Lakeland villages of Coniston and Hawkshead are idyllic and have an abundance of shops and cafés. For the more adventurous, why not take to the tree top challenge at Grizedale Forest, or venture along the many paths by foot or by bike. For steam enthusiasts, you can still take to the tracks with a ride on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite trains near Ulverston, or the elegant Victorian Steam Yacht Gondola which sails between March and November on Coniston Water.
