This delightful, welcoming, and very dog friendly semi-detached cottage is peacefully located along a quiet road, only 5 minutes’ walk from Lyndhurst village. On the ground floor is an entrance hall, dining area with wood laminate floor, a well-equipped kitchen, a comfortable living room, a toilet and a door leading out to an enclosed patio garden. Upstairs are two en-suite bedrooms and there are many thoughtful personal touches and additions, including books, tourist information, DVDs, family games and treats/extras for your pets too! There is parking for one car at the front, with additional on-road parking.
Known as ‘The Heart of The New Forest’, Lyndhurst offers various cafés, restaurants, shops and inns. The location is ideal for walkers, and Cosy Cottage is only a couple of minutes’ walk from the open forest where ponies and donkeys graze.
There is so much to do in The New Forest with attractions for all ages, including Paulton’s Park with Peppa Pig World just a short drive away. Beaulieu Motor Museum, the riverside village of Bucklers Hard and many picturesque villages are also close by just waiting to be discovered. Shops, pubs and restaurants are just a short walk away and there are several beaches about 15 minutes’ drive away. Why not treat yourself to a cream tea or ice cream at one of the many tea rooms or ice cream parlours? The sailing town of Lymington is about a 10-minute drive, with regular ferries to the Isle of Wight, which makes for a great day out. Try your hand at horse riding, golf, fishing, cycling, bird watching, sailing and rambling, or simply relax and soak up the beautiful views that the glorious New Forest offers! Beach 15 miles. Described as ‘the curious angular house’ by the locals, Plover Cottage is 200 years old, standing detached and was formerly the shoemaker’s house, and was also once the local dentist’s surgery. Milford on Sea, one of the last remaining seaside villages, is popular year-round, with a good selection of pubs, restaurants and local shops. The cottage is only 10 minutes’ walk from the beach and 5 minutes from excellent birdwatching areas within a popular conservation area, including the marshes and Sturt Pond, where there is a hide. Walk along Hurst Spit to Hurst Castle (English Heritage), about 1½ miles away, where Charles I was imprisoned; there is also a ferry from nearby Keyhaven to the castle. It is a scenic walk over the cliff tops to Barton-on-Sea, and you can stop off at the café for refreshments en route! There are Victorian Pleasure Gardens throughout the village which follow the river, and keen walkers can take the coastal path from Keyhaven Nature Reserve to Lymington. Although it is a long walk, it takes in some incredible views.
Further afield you can park your car at Hengistbury Head and walk all the way to Boscombe, or alternatively from Highcliffe Castle to Mudeford, then take the short ferry to Hengistbury. The beaches in the locality are very clean, and many people swim from the Milford Beaches. There is a paddle boarding shop in the village, and lessons can be taken in Mudeford. The water in Christchurch Harbour is very shallow, and great for those learning to paddle board.

Within easy reach are beaches at Hayling Island, Southsea and West Wittering’s and just a 10-minute drive from the nautical city of Portsmouth with Spinnaker Tower, designer outlet shopping and waterside dining at Gunwharf Quays. Day trips to the Isle of Wight and HMS Victory and the Mary Rose can also be enjoyed. National Trust homes such as Goodwood House, Petworth House and Uppark House, Weald and Downland Living Museum and West Dean Gardens are all also worth a visit.
