This holiday cottage is spacious, yet intimate, and commands beautiful views of the countryside surrounding the peaceful village of Sheldon, only 3 miles from the market town of Bakewell. The oldest part of the cottage dates from 1800 and has been converted skilfully into a living room with tasteful furnishings, original beams, exposed stone walls and a large fireplace with a multi-fuel burner. There is a large dining area adjacent to the living room and a kitchen which leads into a south-facing conservatory, ideal for breakfast and relaxing. There is a downstairs toilet and utility area. Upstairs has three large double bedrooms (two with en-suite showers) and a bathroom. One of the bedrooms has a 6ft zip and link bed which can be used as a double bed or two single beds. The cottage has Sky TV and wi-fi internet access. Only a few steps from the main cottage is a games room and studio apartment. The large, heated games room has a pool table and table tennis table as well as a drying room for wet clothes and boots. Above the games room is the studio with sitting room and a double bedroom with en-suite. The sitting room has a sofa bed (for alternative sleeping only) and a TV. The cottage stands in an enclosed garden which has driveway parking for four vehicles, flower beds and two lawns. The larger lawn overlooks the nearby fields and hills, and is ideal for ball games. It adjoins a stone-flagged patio area with a built-in barbecue and outside table and chairs. Sheldon has a pub close to the cottage which is friendly and provides good food. The village is within easy reach of Bakewell and Ashford-on-the-Water, and is an excellent starting point for walking, exploring the countryside and visiting Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, The Heights of Abraham in Matlock Bath, the caves around Castleton and many other attractions in the Peak District. Bradley Hall, built in 1774, has retained many of its original features including fireplaces, flagstone and wooden floors, mullion windows and shutters. The ground floor comprises a kitchen/pantry with a gas range cooker and the dining room has a dining table to seat eight comfortably. A south-facing garden completes this lovely historic property, and also makes the ideal place for relaxing with a glass of wine or al-fresco dining in the warm, balmy summer evenings, since there also an outdoor table seating eight guests where you can dine in style. There is also a decked area complete with 8-seater hot tub and fire pit/pizza oven.
The village is ringed by rocks and tors and is set in one the of the most stunning parts of the Peak District, with two excellent pubs. Fantastic walking can be found from the doorstep and for nature lovers, there are great spots for birdwatching in the surrounding areas. For days out, the magnificent stately homes, including the beautiful Chatsworth House (8 miles) and Haddon Hall (4 miles) are an absolute must see, whilst a little further afield, but well worth a visit is Hardwick Hall (National Trust). For water sport enthusiasts, Carsington Water is within easy reach, with sailing, wind-surfing and canoeing all available.

Entering The Stone Barn after walking up the garden path, you’ll find your shoe storage, hot tub towels and the ground floor toilet, perfect when nipping to and from the tub. The ground floor has a large open plan living space with French doors opening directly into the enclosed garden where you have a deck to enjoy your morning coffee, a patio with a table and seating for eight, and a brick-built BBQ. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you’ll need during your stay, whilst meals are enjoyed seated on the handmade tables and benches. The living area boasts a large L-sofa with ample space for a full house. The log burner takes centre stage so everyone can enjoy the extra warmth of the fire whilst chatting or watching a film on the TV.
The sheltered hot tub seats eight adults and can be enjoyed all year round, despite the unpredictable English weather! There are two en-suite bedrooms; the spacious super king is on the ground floor with a walk-in shower and the other is located upstairs with a kingsize bed and enclosed shower. The remaining first floor rooms also offer kingsize beds and share a larger bathroom with both a shower and bathtub. All the beds in the property can be split into singles upon request. Dogs are welcome in The Stone Barn; the fenced garden means you won’t need to worry about any escape artists, and the owners are happy to offer access to various fields on the farm for ’walkies’.
There’s nothing better than a refreshing walk in the country air and there are plenty of routes on offer right on the doorstep so make sure you pack your walking boots! A short journey by car reveals even more opportunities, from stunning natural beauty spots, with routes suitable from novice to the most-seasoned ramblers, like Stanage and Curbar Edge or the magnificent Mam Tor. Picturesque villages such as Bakewell and Castleton are great for coffee and cake pit-stops along the way, whilst there’s also tons of great days out for families such as Chatsworth Farmyard and Adventure Playground, The Heights of Abraham, and Alton Towers. Sheffield is only a 20-minute drive away and equally as close to the stunning scenery of South Yorkshire. There are two pubs within walking distance from the farm, plus more a short drive away.

At the heart of this property is a large, well-equipped kitchen which has everything you should require to cook a filling breakfast ahead of your fun-filled day. It is a great social space too with a relaxing sofa area. The dining room is located in the conservatory with a large table to seat 8 people, two easy chairs, views of the garden and far-reaching views across Bakewell to the golf course and Manners Wood. There is a separate sitting room with electric feature fire, TV, sofa and easy chairs. The lower ground floor provides a separate area as a games room for the kids to have their own space, with a popular football table. On the first floor are two of the four bedrooms. The master bedroom features an en-suite shower room and a super kingsize bed which can be made up as twin beds on request. The family bathroom is also on the first floor and features a bath and a separate shower cubicle. Relatively steep stairs rise to the second floor with a landing providing access to two further bedrooms, one of which is super kingsize with a dual aspect, and far-reaching views which include the River Wye as it meanders through the town.

Outside, the property is approached via a driveway, providing access to a large, gravelled parking area with space for four cars and space to turn. To the side of the property is a lovely garden, ideal for sitting out during the morning, and a patio area immediately adjoining the conservatory with seating for 10 people.

Rock Mews is located just a short walk up from Bakewell town centre, within easy reach of shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. There are magnificent views across the market town of Bakewell from all areas of the garden, and Rock Mews provides the perfect base within this popular Peak District town. From the town you can get onto the Monsal Trail, which is great for cycling as well as walking. If you haven’t got any bikes, bike hiring is available on the trail at Hassop café. Neighbouring towns such as Buxton and Matlock are lovely places to visit and explore, both offering their own independent characters, and of course not to be missed are nearby Chatsworth House and Gardens and Haddon Hall, both within 5 minutes’ drive of Bakewell.

This holiday home is located a short drive from Buxton’s town centre, in the village of Harpur Hill, which has a shop, chip shop, good pub serving home made food and great ales and a convenient trail route for a brisk 45 minute walk. Buxton’s town centre has a variety of restaurants serving different cuisines, independent shops and cafés plus it is home to Buxton’s Opera House with shows on weekly, and the Pavillion Gardens which is lovely to walk around in the afternoon. Further afield you can visit Castleton and check out the caverns by boat, explore other towns such as Ashbourne, Bakewell and Matlock, visit Chatsworth House and soak in some history or take a stroll on the nearest well known route, the High Peak trail which has pubs and ice cream stops en route.

Brand New for the 2022 season, this lodge is extremely spacious with an open plan living space. With three French doors opening out onto the exceptionally generous deck, guests can enjoy the sun from dawn to dusk while appreciating an uninterrupted view of the ornamental lake. The lodge is set conveniently close to the large dog walking area and newly created children’s play area.

The accommodation consists of a kingsize double bedroom with en-suite, a zip and link twin room and a third bedroom with two sets of bunk beds (for children). Every bedroom is fitted with a Smart TV. This luxury Lodge is furnished in a contemporary style with wooden floors and Italian leather sofas. We are pleased to accept two well behaved dogs and even have a hot and cold dog shower outside to keep them clean!

Nestled in the award-winning largest inland marina in Europe, this really is the perfect base to explore all that the local area has to offer. Why not take advantage of the Boardwalk, a promenade of six boutique retailers, centred around a fabulous two-storey bar and restaurant. From here you front onto a raised wooden walkway offering terrific views of the water, boats, and wildlife. You will also discover a sensory garden at the end of The Boardwalk to sit and relax and watch the world go by.

Take a short walk down the towpath of the Trent and Mersey Canal to the pretty village of Willington, with three pubs, supermarket, takeaways and railway station. The marina is a great base to explore the Derbyshire Dales, several National trust properties, the National Arboretum and Alton Towers Theme Park.
