At high tide the shoreline is mainly stony but when low you are greeted to a lovely golden sandy beach with plenty of rock pools to enjoy. And surfers, both experienced and beginners enjoy the varying tidal conditions the cove provides and with lifeguard cover from July to end of September you can relax a little bit more too! Further afield the fishing port of Padstow is a popular tourist destination too. Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited, you will want to come back to time and time again. It has something for everyone including great beaches for relaxing and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafés to watch it all from. The property is located in Okehampton a short distance from quaint local village of Sheepwash and just a 30 minute drive from Bude Beach and Instow Beach.

The lodge benefits from outside enclosed decked area, open plan living/kitchen/dining areas, two double bedrooms and a separate shower room, perfect for couples or individuals. Whilst being in a quiet rural location, the lodges are situated within a 5-minute drive of the local town of Denbury for any essentials needed. The larger nearby town of Newton Abbot is also just a 5-minute drive away with a wide variety of shops, restaurants, bars and supermarkets. The town also has a main train station for those wishing to travel down without a car.
Although set within the beautiful area of the South Hams, the towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, which make up the renowned ’English Riviera’, are just a short drive away. Rose Cottage is a lovely, comfortable and cosy North Devon cottage located just 2.5 miles away from Westward Ho! Beach and offers accommodation on two floors for up to 8 people.
The property has recently undergone extensive improvements and renovation which includes an extension. The ground floor has a large living room with cosy wood burner and a Smart TV and a kitchen/diner in the new part of the property with everything you’d expect in a modern kitchen plus the added comfort of underfloor heating.
On the ground floor there is also a handy wet room with a walk-in shower, toilet and basin. The garage functions as a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, plus iron/ironing board, and a convenient storage area for guest bicycles and surfboards. Highchairs and a fireguard are stored here.
From the kitchen you can take in far-reaching rural views and walk out onto the balcony decking and enjoy the outdoor space, including a lawn garden area and outdoor seating. There is parking for one car on the private driveway at the front of the cottage (further parking can be found on-road). On the first floor there are four bedrooms; two kings, one double and a twin room (with two single beds). There are two first floor bathrooms, one with a bath and shower-over, underfloor heating and heated towel rail, the second bathroom has a shower cubicle and heated towel rail.
Abbotsham is a small village in the area known as ‘Hame’ in the Domesday Book and is close to Westward Ho! which itself offers an array of seaside amenities including some fascinating curiosity shops and a range of restaurants and cafes, many of which are regularly visited by locals for their quality fayre. There is also an excellent pub within short walking distance.
Very close by are two popular top family attractions, The Big Sheep amusement farm park, and if you fancy some high ropes, wall climbing, surfing or even a spot of coasteering, The Ultimate Adventure Centre is the place to visit! The beaches are a main attraction of this area for many and the Southwest Coastal Path also runs through Westward Ho! This beautiful area is a must for keen runners and walkers! Swimming, surfing, canoeing, entertainment for all the family and fishing are all close by too.
The popular Tarka Trail can be accessed approximately 3 miles away providing the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest coastal, riverside and woodland countryside and scenery.
