An interesting day out can be spent at Burton Constable Hall, a magnificent Elizabethan mansion with Capability Brown landscaped parkland and historic stables. Hull, 12 miles, is the home city of poet Philip Larkin and birthplace of William Wilberforce. Places of interest here include The Deep, a huge sealife aquarium, the Ferens Art Gallery, the Maritime Museum and Hull Truck Theatre. Bridlington can be reached in 45 minutes, with the impressive Sewerby Hall and Gardens found just a little further on, and the charming market town of Beverley is a 30-minute drive, where you can visit the beautiful minster, stroll along the cobbled streets lined with interesting shops, or enjoy the pavement cafés and fine dining restaurants.
