This large sandstone 17th-century holiday cottage stands detached on the banks of the River Severn with stunning views of the Severn Valley from both the house and the delightful lawned garden. It is located just 50 yards from Highley station and the Engine House Museum on the Severn Valley Railway, with steam trains running past the rear of the cottage. Journey from Marylebone station and change at Kidderminster to complete the fabulous journey by steam train. It is a perfect location for exploring the beautiful Severn Valley with its many footpaths, bridleways and river walks, with the famous Severn Way passing directly in front of the cottage and a country park just 50 yards away. This famous stretch of Stanley Water on the River Severn is one of the most prolific for barbel fishing in the country, producing barbel to 17lb on the BAA stretch of water outside the cottage. There are also two day ticket stretches at £6 per day, and lots of local carp fishing lakes. The Astbury 18-hole, award-winning golf course is a 5-minute drive away. The West Midlands Safari Park is a 15-minute drive away, and this property makes an excellent base for visiting Bridgnorth, Bewdley, Ludlow, Worcester, Ironbridge, Wenlock Edge and the Long Mynd, all within an hour’s drive. Caer Caradoc and the Devils Chair on the Stiperstones possess a wild beauty and the conservation area of Long Mynd offers a wonderful day out. Spanning the River Severn, Ironbridge and its fascinating museums are among a wealth of attractions discovered within a short drive, as is Ludlow, a famous paradise for ‘foodies’, with its superb annual festival, racecourse, impressive castle, fine shops and delightful old inns. A grand old country house, still a family home – Buntingsdale Hall, an 18th Century masterpiece, stands in its own grounds overlooking the River Tern not far from the pretty county town of Market Drayton.
Approached down a mile long private drive, the principal apartment of the Victorian wing is yours. Following sensitive modernisation the apartment has all the comfort one expects but the grand bedrooms and drawing room with 18 ft. high ceilings retain all their Victorian splendour.
Think huge; supper in an enormous eat-in family kitchen, cocktail hour in the elegant living room. Relax on the big sofas, mix cocktails from the 1950s bar cart in front of the fire; maybe find out who killed Miss Scarlet from the board games trunk, while the little ones build wooden trains from the kids’ trunk - they’ll be too busy to look at their phones! After supper, the party continues down in the former servant’s hall, now a games room, with a full size snooker table, roulette wheel, darts, table tennis and roaring fire.

Outside there’s a private secluded courtyard with a BBQ and a big table for all, and walks directly from the door. Do bring Fido; you can all walk a couple of miles across the fields to the pub in Market Drayton which has hearty food all day, brews its own beer, loves dogs and kids, with big tables and fires.
Within the estate is a private lake -carry one of our kayaks down with your picnic and barbecue gear and enjoy the stars. One of the most unspoilt parts of the UK for stargazing. Around you are all kinds of wildlife rarely glimpsed, birds of prey, kingfishers, badgers and wild fishing. Old fashioned fun: children can make camps and swing on trees, paddle. There’s a boat or they can borrow a bike and ride down the private drive to swim in the local millpond. There’s a fire pit with straw bales for a warm fire in the evening. The lake’s just across the drive, entirely private. Shops and pubs 2 miles.

Offering a welcoming holiday retreat for large families and groups, these four beautiful barn conversions, three of which are adjoining (CUL, CWL and UKC3286), and one detached property (UK11053), are full of charm and character with exposed beams, character flooring and equipped to offer all modern day comforts. Boasting a comfortable, open-plan living space with a wood burner and well-equipped kitchen, each barn has its own enclosed, walled, lawned garden with seating. There is a function hall on-site (with conference and catering facilities for up to 250 guests) which may be available for use by prior arrangement with the owner.

Neighbouring the owner’s farm, Piggyback Barns are situated in the peaceful village of Sculthorpe, just 8 miles from the Norfolk coastline with its wealth of sandy beaches, and RSPB bird and nature reserves. Excellent walking and cycling can be enjoyed from the doorstep and fishing is nearby.
Fakenham, 2 miles, offers good shops, restaurants, inns, a bowling alley, cinema and golf course. Bustling Burnham Market with village shops, inns and restaurants, is 7 miles away. Wells-next-the-Sea, 8 miles, offers an excellent sandy beach with colourful beach huts, a small shopping town centre with many inns and restaurants, and a picturesque fishing harbour - popular for fresh shell fish. Further along the coast is Brancaster for an uncrowded sandy beach and golf course. Brancaster Staithe provides a popular venue for sailing and boating enthusiasts.

The traditional seaside towns of Heacham and Hunstanton offer an array of activities for all ages. Many places of historical interest and stately homes are within the surrounding area. 20 minutes’ drive away is the historical town of Kings Lynn for shopping, market place, restaurants, inns and theatre, and also Norwich city for excellent shopping, castle museum, cathedral, theatre, market place, restaurants and inns. Beach 8 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
