Barn End Cottage is a luxurious semi-detached barn conversion set in the grounds of the owner’s home, and was completely renovated in 2019. It is all on the ground floor and wherever possible the owners have retained the barns original features. On approach, you will come up a private drive flanked by natural paddocks. The property is ahead of you with originally styled shutter doors over the floor to ceiling windows. The open plan living space is light and airy with beams but equally cosy with the wood burner. To the back of the barn you can enjoy the private garden with a sun terrace. In the grounds, guests can enjoy walks but also have access to the owner’s tennis court.

Here, you are hidden away in the Suffolk countryside and excellently located to explore this superb area, with the historic market towns of Framlingham and Saxmundham close by. Cycling and walking are well catered for here, with lovely countryside trails to explore and beautiful scenery along the way. The coast is equally close by with Southwold, Thorpeness and Aldeburgh a short drive away or accessible via public transport. You will not be lost for things to see and do in this beautiful location. The Challoners is nestled in the heart of the East Sussex Weald and redefines what to expect from a premium glamping holiday experience. The Challoners is a place to enjoy some peace and quiet, so the owners have deliberately left out a TV - the perfect excuse to create your own intimate environment away from the outside world and take some time for you. You may come with good intentions to explore the area and find yourself not wanting to leave this haven all weekend! If you can pull yourself away there are 300 acres of foot and cycle paths to explore in the surrounding area, including access to the owners private 50 acres of woodland with one of the largest badger sets in Europe. The pretty village of Robertsbridge is just a mile away and offers a general store, local pub, and award-winning Indian restaurant. Both the local pubs are also dog friendly and the Salehurst Halt has a large dog-friendly garden. Bewl Water is 7 miles away and offers various water sports and the Bodiam Boating Station is 10 miles away which offers river cruises and boat hire for a more relaxed day out or kayaking for the more adventurous. You can also explore Bodiam Castle 3 miles away and a little further afield are Battle, the Cinque Ports town of Rye and the coastal town of Hastings. The area between Robertsbridge, Rye and Pevensey is called ‘1066 Country’ and boasts a host of tourist and leisure attractions, including Great Dixter, Bodiam Castle and Smallhythe Place. For those wanting to venture back to the time of steam trains, visit the Kent and East Sussex Railway and take a trip from Bodiam to Tenterden in one of the lovely old carriages. Visit the moated castle at Bodiam built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, a former knight of Edward III, only a 10-minute drive.

This delightful farm holiday cottage, dates back to the 1640s and adjoins the owner’s impressive home which stands in its own grounds and mature gardens. Featuring exposed beams and sloping ceilings, with pretty windows at floor level in the bedroom, enabling you to enjoy the pleasant views from your bed, the cottage is situated on the edge of the unspoilt Peak village of Monyash, just 4 miles from Bakewell, the delightful market town at the heart of the Peak District. This cosy detached cottage making a romantic retreat, is Grade II listed and dates back to 1760. It has been tastefully renovated to a very good standard and benefits from an underfloor heated limestone tiled floor throughout the ground floor. Outside there is a large, enclosed, riverside garden, on the opposite side of a road that leads directly into the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. It has a shared patio with a sitting-out area, a further riverside secluded seating area, garden furniture, BBQ and summerhouse. Although shared with the owners it is available to guests and their pets to enjoy at all times. Within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, East Ayton is a village just a few minutes’ drive from the seafront at Scarborough. The village has all the amenities you could wish for with a post office, shop, garage and local pub as well as an excellent fish restaurant. The cottage is just off the main street on the lane leading further into the National Park and towards Hackness. This property is an ideal place for the walkers or cyclists amongst you, with great trails right on your doorstep. From the large riverside orchard garden there are open views across the valley to the castle that dates back to 1390. Cycling is also very popular in the area as this forms part of the Tour de Yorkshire route. The Dalby Forest is close by with cycle trails for all abilities and home to the World Cup Trail, a challenging 4 mile route, or for beginners, there are plenty more leisurely routes. The cottage is an ideal base to visit all that Yorkshire has to offer from the North Yorkshire Moors to the Wolds and the beautiful east coast, and coarse fishing is available direct onto the River Derwent at the bottom of the garden with brown trout and grayling. On-site is a small children’s play area. A 10-minute walk across the fields brings you into Sedlescombe with its village green and traditional country pub. In close proximity to Battle, with its famous battlefield and abbey, built to commemorate the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Relive one of the most famous days in history, and join the 1066 walk from the doorstep. Take a trip on the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway from Tenterden, also known as ’The Jewel of the Weald’, through the Rother Levels to Bodiam, one of the most evocative moated castles (National Trust), built in 1385. Discover the one time coastal smuggling town of Hastings and medieval Cinque Port town of Rye with its cobbled streets. Picturesque sand dunes and interesting wildlife can be explored at Camber. This wonderful detached cottage with wrap around private garden and hot tub is tucked away in peaceful countryside. Nestled near the village church within the very quaint, small and rural village of Norton Subcourse. It is within easy distance of the larger village of Loddon just a few minutes’ drive away and the pretty market town of Beccles, 14 minutes, with supermarkets, shops, cafés and regular market days.

Surrounded by open countryside, spectacular walks and excellent cycle routes can be enjoyed from the doorstep. The neighbouring village of Thurlton, ¾ miles, boasts a local shop and a friendly public house. The area has excellent road links providing easy access to both sandy beaches and the National Park Norfolk Broads for daily boat hire and river trips. Reedham Ferry, a chain linked ferry crossing, is just 2 miles away and takes you on a trip across the River Yare, with a pub serving good food awaiting on the opposite side, and miles more marshes and villages to explore.

Suffolk coastline includes everything from traditional seaside resorts with good sandy beaches including Lowestoft, through to popular Southwold with its life boat museum, lighthouse, shops and pubs. The Dreamer’s Hut is named after ’The Hawnby Dreamers’ - three local shepherds who in the mid-1700s, fell asleep whilst working in the fields on a hot day in the adjacent valley of Ladhill Ghyll, of which the hut overlooks. The shepherds awoke to discover they had each had the same vivid dream of spiritual awakening and being called to change their lives for the better. The three subsequently walked to Newcastle to hear the preaching of the famous John Wesley and converted to Methodism, bringing this faith back to Hawnby.
