The Old Rydon Inn is located on site at the owner’s pub/restaurant in the popular area of Kingsteignton just outside of Newton Abbot, Teignmouth and Shaldon.
Boasting facilities such as guests being able to be served in their dining room via the restaurant itself, a quirky dining table which also couples up as a pool table, open fire and bar area with beer pumps in the living room which can be hooked up to barrels at an additional charge. The property is also pet friendly and has plenty of parking on site. The third and final bedroom contains zip & link beds which are configured as a super king bed with attached but can be separated on request. This room has a Smart TV and its own surround sound system. By the front door there is bench table and chair seating which the owner often reserves for guests use only, to ensure that there is always somewhere to sit outside of the property.

Ilfracombe is perfectly situated to enjoy countless other North Devon attractions such as the popular Tarka Trail, Exmoor National Park 20 minutes’ drive away and the breath taking Valley of the Rocks at Lynton with its incredible sea views, rugged cliffs and amazing funicular cliff railway to Lynmouth, which opened in 1890 and is the highest and steepest entirely water powered railway in the world!

Surrounded by rolling green fields in splendid isolation, West Yeo Farm is set over 76 acres. This medieval farm, mentioned in the Domesday book, enjoys uninterrupted countryside views across the valley to the village of Witheridge beyond. There are many interesting walks across the land and along the river nearby, and in the autumn, it is possible to help with the annual apple harvest and cider production. This part of Devon is an excellent touring base with easy access to lots of places of interest. Nearby you can explore the Two Moors Way, visit RHS Rosemoor, The Grand Western Canal, Knightshayes House or the breathtaking scenery at Exmoor National Park, a short drive away. There are plenty of National Trust properties in the area, as well as some fabulous villages and farm shops.
West Yeo Farm is just a couple of miles from Witheridge and a short drive from the market town of South Molton, known for its pannier market, quaint tea rooms and antiques shops. The Old Toll House is a modern, cosy, yet spacious holiday cottage set in the heart of the seaside village of Shaldon. Set over three floors, it sleeps up to eight guests in three bedrooms. As you enter the property through the front floor, you will find yourself in between the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped with all you could need to rustle up a good meal, and the dining area next door benefits from a large dining table and additional fridge/freezer. A door from the kitchen leads into the spacious utility room, and another door leads onto the low maintenance and sunny rear courtyard garden. Upstairs on the first floor is the bright and airy living room, with its Smart TV and plenty of seating. There is also a separate toilet on this floor as well as a kingsize bedroom. The second floor is where the family bathroom is, as well as a further two bedrooms; one with a double bed and the other with two double beds, perfect as a children’s room or for individuals happy to share.
Being set in Shaldon itself, many properties are very difficult to park at and even manoeuvring through the lanes can be difficult at the best of times. However, the property is located just one road away from the town and an off-road parking space directly outside is a real added bonus. This is a great location for those looking to stay in Shaldon and enjoy the fantastic beach and nearby restaursnts or for exploring the nearby town of Teignmouth, the English Riviera (made up of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham) or even to travel slightly further afield to the well known Dartmouth and Salcombe. Northam is a small market town lying just north of the historic port town of Bideford and less than 2 miles south of Westward Ho! which offers an array of seaside amenities including free public tennis courts, some fascinating curiosity shops and a range of restaurants and cafes, many of which are regularly visited by locals for their quality fayre. The beaches are a main attraction of this area for many, and the Southwest Coastal Path also runs through Westward Ho! This is a must for keen walkers, runners, and view seekers! Paddling, surfing, canoeing, entertainment for all the family and fishing are all close by too. The popular Tarka Trail can be accessed approximately 3 miles away providing the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line by foot or by cycle allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and scenery while discovering the towns of Barnstaple and Bideford where you can wander during their weekly pannier markets, with a host of local produce, quality cafes and crafts on offer.
On your journey stopover at Fremington Quay for a tasty bite to eat and then the estuary-side village of Instow – a must see! And one place not to forget to visit is the world-famous village of Clovelly with its pedestrianised cobbled main street, traditional architecture, donkeys, and views over the Bristol Channel. If golf is your thing, then the Royal North Devon Golf Club which was founded in 1864 and is the oldest golf course in England has to be on your list of places to visit. For a day with a difference take a trip across to Lundy Island from Bideford, home to England’s first statutory Marine Nature Reserve due to its unique flora and fauna. Measuring just 3 miles by ¾ mile, this entire island has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Town Mills is a historic, Grade II listed former Mill and Manor House situated on the banks of the River Torridge on the outskirts of Great Torrington in North Devon. Built by Lord Rolle in 1823 and made famous as ‘Tarka’s Mill’ in Henry Williamson’s book ‘Tarka The Otter’, Town Mills started life as a Grain Mill and a Saw Mill, both mills being powered by waterwheels. Now, almost 200 years later, Town Mills has been sympathetically converted into seven well-appointed holiday cottages all with their own charm and personality.
From a cosy holiday cottage that sleeps three people, to a larger six-bedroom holiday cottage that sleeps twelve, every cottage benefits from character and charm combined with modern convenience. Riverside is one of the most popular cottages at Town Mills, partly because of its location and private veranda overlooking the river. This charming two-storey cottage originally formed part of the stable blocks almost 200 years ago. It is a good-sized four-bedroom property. On the ground floor there is a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, and a twin bedroom. Both of these bedrooms have French windows offering easy access to the veranda. With nobody to overlook you, waking up to the views of the river and countryside is a great way to start the day. The main bathroom is also downstairs, and has an over-bath shower, plus toilet and wash basin. Two further twin rooms are located upstairs. A selection of outdoor furniture on the veranda provides the ideal setting for enjoying a little al-fresco dining whilst looking at the local wildlife. You may spot an otter if you’re lucky.
On-site, there is a indoor shared swimming pool which is kept warm between 31-32 degrees, so is suitable for even the smallest guests. The owners offer the opportunity to reserve the pool for your exclusive use, allowing you the chance for a session of family fun, or a quiet moment to relax. There is a games room with a free pool table and a classic table football, along with a dart board and fruit machine. Located by the riverside, but securely fenced, the children’s play area offers picnic bench seating with swings, slide and climbing frame, as well as an elevated playhouse, its the ideal spot to spend a lazy afternoon with a picnic whilst trying to spot an otter or some of the other many local wildlife visitors. For younger guests, there is a kids hideaway where they can escape to. On the opposite side of the Mill there is a garden where you can enjoy a few moments, maybe have a picnic or watch the peacocks as they wander around.
The countryside around Town Mills is dotted with sleepy villages nestled among the hills, while extensive woodlands, traversed by many footpaths, offer the chance to experience the area’s natural beauty. Local attractions include the renowned RHS gardens at Rosemoor (adjacent) and Dartington Crystal, offering a factory tour and visitor centre. Great Torrington is only a mile away with good shopping and amenities, and there is golf at nearby Hartland. Town Mills adjoins Torrington Common which extends to 365 acres, incorporating 20 miles of footpaths. The common is a haven for wildlife. The ‘Big Sheep’ and ‘Milky Way’ theme parks are each less than 10 miles away.
The River Torridge runs downstream to the ancient port of Bideford, still with a working quay offering boat trips to Lundy Island. Just around the corner is the attractive little town of Appledore with its colourful houses and narrow streets. To either side lies Devon’s most spectacular stretch of coastal scenery – a chain of magnificent cliffs and rocky promontories, interspersed here and there by long flat sandy beaches, where the Atlantic breakers roll in to create ideal surfing conditions. There are splendid beaches at Instow and Westward Ho!, the latter bordered by the Royal North Devon Golf Club, and the Northam Nature Reserve. Further west is the supremely picturesque Clovelly, with narrow, cobbled main street descending at a dizzying gradient to the little harbour below. The cathedral city of Exeter can be reached via a delightful drive through lush river valleys.
