These beautifully restored barn conversions (ref UKC3357 and ref UKC3358) are peacefully located in the delightful hamlet of Beauworth which is near Cheriton, Alresford and Winchester. They offer excellent light and airy single-storey accommodation, ideal for couples or families wishing to explore the many attractions, walks and coastline that this wonderful part of Hamphsire has to offer. Much thought has been given to providing tastefully styled and comfortable furnishings, with plenty of natural light throughout. Each property has a small enclosed sitting out area with barbecue, and there is an adjoining gate between the two properties, ideal for larger groups.
Nearby Cheriton has a village shop and there are two popular local pubs both serving fine fayre. The pretty Georgian town of Alresford has scenic riverside walks, further eateries, inns, tea rooms and shops. Alresford is known for being the UK’s capital of watercress farming - enjoy a trip on the Mid Hants Watercress Steam Railway for a wonderful nostalgic journey back in time! For keen cyclists and walkers there are many places to visit including The Itchen Way, Blackwood Forest, St Catherine’s Hill, Winnall Moors Nature Reserve, and also the Ox Drove cycle track. There are many good golf clubs in the area, the nearest being Alresford, 3 miles, and excellent trout or coarse fishing in the Meon Valley.
In addition to the many scenic walks in the area, there are also a range of attractions to explore. The National Trust’s Hinton Ampner is popular with all ages. The properties are within easy reach of the historic city of Winchester, 8 miles, with its ornate cathedral, The Gurkha Museum, King Alfred Monument and Winchester Science and Planetarium. There are beer and wine tours and tastings within the area too. A short drive will take you to the market towns of Alton and Petersfield, or visit Southampton and Portsmouth where you can see Spinnaker Tower, shopping outlets, the historic dockyard with ships, or enjoy a trip to the Isle of Wight by ferry. The nearest beach at Hayling Island is less than 30 minutes’ drive, and it is approximately 40 minutes’ drive to the wonderful sandy beach at West Wittering. Also within easy driving distance are Chichester with Goodwood or Fontwel Races, Jane Austen’s House, Gilbert White’s House and Gardens, Hambledon Vineyard and The New Forest. Brockenhurst is nearby, as is the popular sailing town of Lymington, which is only a 5-minute drive, with its pretty harbour, fishing trips, cobbled streets, boutiques, pubs, restaurants and day trips by ferry to the Isle of Wight.
Other places of interest nearby include Beaulieu Motor Museum, the riverside village of Bucklers Hard, Exbury Gardens, Marwell Zoo, Peppa Pig World and New Forest Owl and Otter Park, to name but a few. Further afield, but well worth the trip, are Monkey World and the Tank Museum at Bovington. Downlands Farm is nestled in the heart of the beautiful Hampshire countryside with wonderful views across the peaceful valley. This rural haven is only 10 minutes from Petersfield, with fantastic road and rail connections for London and Portsmouth. These two holiday cottages Edward’s Cottage (ref UKC1818) and Louisa’s Cottage (ref UK11596) are set on a small working farm and just off a green-lane leading to miles of footpaths, bridleways and on and off-road cycling within the South Downs National Park. The cottages offer light and airy open plan living accommodation, and have ground floor bedrooms and a special ‘hideaway’ bedroom/playroom to accommodate children.
The barns have been converted from original agricultural buildings and have been sympathetically designed to blend with the surrounding countryside, while offering comfortable accommodation. For biking enthusiast there is a shared bike shed for bike storage and by arrangement, guests are welcome to bring their horses and make use of the Loddon stables. There are three local pubs within the vicinity, all within a half hour stroll or a 3-minute car journey away. The bustling market town of Petersfield is a 10-minute drive, and has a range of shops and restaurants, and along with the two local village shops; these provide all you need for stocking up on essential items. The cathedral cities of Chichester, Guildford, Portsmouth and Winchester are all 45 minutes away, and offer a range of shops and entertainment. The beautiful beach at West Wittering is an hour’s drive away, and this lovely location is ideal to visit, whatever the time of year, and is perfect for all ages. During low season (October to April), you can ride your horse at any time on the beach at West Wittering, and during the summer months you can ride before 9am and after 6pm.
Hayling Island has a children’s fun fair and a shingle beach, and is within half an hour from Downlands Farm. The cottages enjoy direct access to miles of scenic walking and cycling routes through the beautiful countryside and pretty villages such West Meon, where you can enjoy lunch at one of the pubs serving food, and where Thomas Lord rests, founder of Lords cricket. The market town of Petersfield has a range of restaurants and shops, and if you fancy a day trip to London, the local train service takes approximately one hour. There are several attractions in the area that are worth a visit, including Portsmouth with the Spinnaker Tower, HMS Warrior and Nelson’s HMS Victory, along with the historic Winchester Cathedral, King Arthurs Round Table, and Southampton with its extensive maritime history. For walking and riding the vast heathland of The New Forest National Park is ideal. For a cultural day out, try historic Chichester with its cathedral and festival theatre, and not forgetting the Watercress Steam Train, Jane Austen’s house, Gilbert White’s house, Marwell Zoo, Birdworld and the Queen Elizabeth Country Park which is the other side of the valley. Both properties have an outside marble bath tub perfect for gazing at the stars in the evening with a glass of wine. There is plenty to see and do in the area and it is an ideal location for exploring the borderlands of England and Wales, which is an area of pretty countryside and charming market towns. Llanidloes is a typical market town where local goods and produce are readily available, and the town itself boasts plenty of good quality restaurants and bars. Superb walking and cycling is available locally. The lodges are located 150 yards from cycle route 81 so it’s an ideal base for those exploring on two wheels. Llanidloes has over 30 separate way marked walking routes starting from the town centre. The spectacular scenery at Llyn Clywedog, a man-made reservoir just above the town along with Hafren Forest where you will find the source of the River Severn, also affords wonderful walking opportunities. The magnificent Elan Valley reservoirs are just 35 minutes away. And if mountains are your thing, Cadair Idris can be reached in under 1hour, Snowdonia in under 2 hours, and the Brecon Beacons in approximately 1hour 20minutes. Set in an elevated position enjoying beautiful views of the Mid Wales countryside. Peacefully located just 1½ miles from the centre of Newtown, a bustling market town situated on the banks of the River Severn famous for its arts and music, with museums, art galleries and a theatre, as well as providing a wealth of shopping and dining opportunities.

This lovely lodge is set next to another lodge on site (UK35188- Hillside Hideaway). This is also wonderful walking and birdwatching country with numerous activities available nearby including golf, fishing and riding - a perfect location for exploring the borderlands of England and Wales, southern Snowdonia and Aberystwth’s seaside attractions.

On site the owners have a fantastic herd of Alpacas and they offer guests the opportunity to participate in alpaca trekking around the land that surrounds the properties. This needs to be booked direct with the owner and paid for in advance. The land that surrounds the lodges is elevated and takes in stunning views which guests can use to relax in. Set on one level, this property is fully open plan. The kitchen includes fridge, electric cooker, hob and sink and there is a dining table within the lodge. There are three single beds and a shower room which includes a shower cubicle, toilet and sink. There is a private sitting area with garden furniture to the front of the property with a barbecue. A breakfast hamper made up of local produce is available on request at £6 per person (minimum order for 2).

Fresh for the Summer Season of 2021, Poppy’s by the Sea is located in Hayling Island on a private road, moments from the beach. A detached four-bedroom holiday home, able to comfortably accommodate up to eight guests it’s also dog friendly too. The beaches of this popular isle are surrounded by sheltered waters across from the Isle of Wight, making it ideal for water sports activities. It is renowned for its windsurfing and sailing activities, kayaking, power boating, jet ski-ing, kite surfing and wake boarding. Local paddle-boating and windsurfing lessons are available close by. Every year there is a national windsurfing event, and a hive of sailing and nautical activity can be seen along the coastline.

Situated on the banks of the Severn between Llanidloes and Newtown, Caersws is the perfect location to stay and explore mid Wales from Powysland Museum in Welshpool to Treasure trails, scenic rail tours, castles, and many cycle routes there is so much to see and do. There is a village pub, supermarket, local shops and takeaway restaurants all within proximity. Choose to stay at The old Moat Lane Station and enjoy all that this part of mid Wales has to offer.

Situated in small, charming village of Alverstoke in the borough of Gosport. Windbrake House is just a 10-minute walk from the village where there is a convenience shop, a post office, a Chinese restaurant and take-away, fish and chip shop, hairdressers and gift shop. There is a south facing garden to the front of the property, and the owner thoughtfully provides complimentary toiletries. There is an excellent bistro on the front at Stokes Bay which serves home cooked food at reasonable prices with big portions!

There is always something to see at Stokes Bay. The Solent, between the Isle of Wight and Stokes Bay, is used by all manner of boats, ships and water sports including Cowes Week, naval reviews, cruise liners, America’s Cup, P1 Powerboat racing, Fast Net departure and American aircraft carriers, to name a few!

Stoke’s Bay also has two cafés as well as a wine bar and a free splash park for children. There is also a leisure centre and ice-rink a short drive away. It takes 7 minutes to drive to Gosport harbour front where there is a long-stay car park (at cost) and with a return passenger ferry ticket across Portsmouth Harbour you can soon spend a quality day at either the naval dockyard or at Gunwharf Quays, a retail outlet with many designer stores, restaurants, bowling alley and multi-screen cinema and Portsmouth Spinnaker Tower, both located close to the ferry terminal.
From Portsmouth Harbour there are fabulous views to be enjoyed on a promenade to Southsea and Old Portsmouth where you can enjoy excellent pubs beside the fish market whilst watching the fishing boats or catch the hovercraft to the Isle of Wight. From the Portsmouth side you can also take the car or go as a passenger to the Isle of Wight with Wightlink Ferries or take a harbour tour as part of the dockyard visit or from Gunwharf Quays.
