Herne Bay itself is loved by visitors for its long stretches of beach, cycle routes, iconic pier, independent eateries, and boutique shops as well as its entertainment, concert hall, cinema, and arcades. Its legacy lingers in the Victorian bandstand, fragrant seafront gardens and distinctive 80ft Clock Tower. The Reculver Towers and Roman Fort can be seen to the east where 12th-century church towers sit amid the remains of a Roman ’Saxon Shore’ fort.

Herne Bay station is just moments from the property giving easy access to the surrounding coastal towns by rail and a direct route to London Victoria and Kings Cross, Dreamland Margate, Broadstairs and Whitstable. Just along the coast and 10 minutes by car Whitstable is renowned for its famous oysters and charming Crab and Winkle way cycle route from Whitstable Harbour.

Set on the owner’s smallholding with poultry and livery yard, they are perfect for couples looking to have all the quaint village amenities on their doorstep and are also within a short distance to a stunning beach area. It is a short leisurely stroll into Herne where you reach a village pub that serves delicious food, and a bit further on is the local shop.

The cottages have been renovated to a modern standard for a more than comfortable stay, offering a spacious open plan living space with patio doors leading to the garden. There is a charming bedroom upstairs, and a sofa bed in the living room for alternative sleeping if needed. Enjoy calm mornings eating breakfast or balmy summer evenings out in your private garden area overlooking the fields, and being a dog friendly property, this is a great place for your dog to play.

This is a great location for exploring the iconic city of Canterbury. The space This holiday space is a brick built garden room which has been separated from the main house by fencing creating a completely self-contained area for two guests. The ample bedroom has a super kingsize bed which can be separated into twin beds. The bedroom has wardrobes with space to hang clothes and shelves. A separate wardrobe is home to an iron and ironing board and a dustpan and brush. There is a dressing table with a hairdryer and a light-up make up mirror. A full length mirror is also on the front of the wardrobe. A Smart TV on the wall opposite the bed for those days when you just want to chill out in bed is there for your enjoyment. Accessed from the bedroom via a sliding pocket door is the shower room. This has a shower, wash hand basin and WC. The mirror over the basin has lighting and there is a shaver socket on the wall. Subtle low level spotlights allow the use of the WC without the need to put the main light on and the fan which is surprisingly quiet but could still be a disturbance in the night. The main room is both the kitchen and living space.
There are two external doors - the main door accessed via a smart lock using your smart phone and a rear door with access to the patio area. The kitchen has a built in oven, hob, dishwasher and fridge with ice box. A lovely quartz worktop adds to the style. The kitchen has a Nespresso machine as well as the normal kettle and toaster along with cutlery and crockery and cooking pans etc. The living space has a sofa and chair and smart TV, and there is also a dining table with 2 chairs. The outside patio area, perfect for taking in the evening rays of sun has both a table with chairs and parasol as well as a rattan corner sofa. Canterbury Cathedral, founded in 597 AD, is the headquarters of the Church of England and Anglican Communion, incorporating Gothic and Romanesque elements in its stone carvings and stained-glass windows. Canterbury is only 6 miles from the beaches of Herne Bay and Whitstable a tiny bit further allows you to indulge yourself in the golden sandy beaches of Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate too! Canterbury has a great mixed selection of culinary cuisines to choose from to visit from the traditional old-style English pub to your Michelin star restaurants and everything else in between. "Dating back to 1652, these two properties were originally part of a working dairy farm and offer a wonderful location, next to the owners’ home, in the coastal town of Margate. Farm Cottage (ref W43578) is a quaint, semi-detached, converted farmhouse comfortably sleeping 4 guests, and has been renovated to a good standard. Guests can enjoy access to a good-sized garden, an open plan living/dining room and a well-equipped kitchen, as well as a small chalk cave which is characteristic of the area and which the owners are happy to show guests around.
Stable Cottage (ref UKC3922), complete with its stable door, adjoins the owners’ converted farmhouse and is ideally suited to couples. This holiday cottage was renovated in 2018 to a good standard, retaining some original features including an exposed wall in the living room. Guests can enjoy access to a garden at the front of the cottage.
A short stroll from the properties will take you into the coastal town of Margate where local attractions include the famous Turner Gallery, Margate Old Town and Shell Grotto. Catch a band at the Winter Gardens or hop on a retro ride at Dreamland. Take a boat trip and spot seals on the sandbanks, or cycle the Viking Coastal Trail, one of the most attractive leisure cycle routes in Kent, covering 27 miles. A short drive will take you to Broadstairs, home to Viking Bay, with several fantastic walks, or why not visit Ramsgate Royal Harbour?
Broadstairs Folk Week takes place on the first weekend in August every year and it is only a 20-minute bus ride from the cottage. Whitstable, dubbed the ‘Pearl of Kent’ presents a great opportunity to indulge in sampling oysters for which it is renowned for. Alternatively, visit the port town of Hythe, with its interesting antique shops and fishing along the seafront. Roundwood Hall, for golf, is less than 2½ miles away and there is horse riding at Marberdan Riding Centre, 1 mile. Littlestone-on-Sea is a small coastal village close to New Romney in Kent. It was established in the 1880s by Sir Robert Perks as a resort for the gentry, at the point of the local lifeboat station. At low tide a World War II Mulberry Harbour Phoenix breakwater is visible along the coast; the caisson was unable to be re-floated as part of the post D-Day harbour construction in Normandy, so was abandoned. The nature of the Phoenix breakwaters meant they were constructed and sunk until needed (so as to be invisible to air attack); by design they would have had the water evacuated by Royal Engineers and then been towed to France where they would have become part of the harbour.
