Sedgeford Hall, built of local sand-coloured brick was built in the reign of Queen Anne, and completed in 1713, with further additions throughout the centuries; it now includes a heated indoor swimming pool, open fires and wood-burning stoves for the colder winter months, beautiful enclosed gardens and numerous Estate walks, with lakes, woods and parkland to explore.

Sedgeford is just a few miles from the coast and close to splendid towns and villages such as Burnham Market and Brancaster, and several stately homes with lovely places to walk - Houghton Hall, Holkham Hall and The Sandringham Estate; the Queen’s Christmas residence.

Just 5 miles to the north is the seaside town of Hunstanton with miles of sandy beaches and rock pools, majestic cliffs, a Sea Life Centre, amusemens, watersports, tennis, croquet, bowls, golf, shops, restaurants and inns. Heacham, 3 miles, has the benefit of Norfolk Lavender with garden centre, shops, café and farm shop. Set on the Hole Farm Estate, winners of a National Conservation award, Orchard House is a great choice for those looking to explore the area from a picturesque and peaceful setting. Orchard House boasts views across the open countryside. It is furnished with a good mix of antiques and modern pieces and will appeal to those looking for something quirky with some really lovely touches.
There is a lot of history associated with the site. In 1379, John Blakeneye, citizen and fishmonger of London, bought the manor of Hempstead, including the Hole Farmlands, from John de Stodeye, Lord Mayor of London, and by the mid 15th century, many of the farm buildings were built. Owned by the second Earl of Buckinghamshire in the mid 1700s, it later became part of the Blickling Estate. In 1884, the estate, now run by Lady Constance Lothian, had some major alterations and rebuilding at Hole Farm. These improvements included both the repairing of all the buildings in the original farmyard and the creation of a cattle yard. In fact, the old walls for the cattle yard now provide the shelter for the lovely seasonal, outdoor, heated swimming pool; (guests should bring their own swimming towels). There is also a shared tennis court (please bring your own rackets and balls).
The family who now own the property, have planted 60 acres of woodland and 8½ miles of hedges and the farm has won many conservation and forestry awards. The setting is just lovely as it’s nestled within the beautiful North Norfolk countryside. It’s a 15-minute drive to the stunning coastline where you will find yourself amongst beautiful sandy and shingle beaches, marsh habitats and picturesque quays. Take a trip to Cromer and walk along the Edwardian promenade or take a stroll along the pier. Head to Blakeney for the Norfolk pursuit of gillie catching. Blickling Estate is just 15 minutes away, but don’t forget to find time to visit Holkham Hall and the Sandringham Estate too. History lovers will also enjoy a trip to the Thursford Military and Muckleburgh Steam collections museums, a trip on the North Norfolk Railway or a guided tour of Norwich Castle. Stable Cottage 8 (ref UKC3747) is also arranged on one floor but there is a flight of stairs to take you up to it. Littlewoods Barn (ref UKC3737) and Baileys Barn (ref UKC3738) are also both single storey and enjoy a quiet position that is just a five-minute walk from the farm and all its great facilities. The Old Workshop (ref UKC3740) is on-site and offers light and airy accommodation for up to eight guests, and Dairy Cottage (ref UKC3735) and Pond Cottage (ref UKC3736) both boast a range ideal for cooking delicious meals. Dating back over 300 years, Moor Farm Cottage (ref UKC3734) has a lovely open fire to relax around, and Church Farm Barn (ref UKC3739) offers a cosy wood burner.
Keen fisherman will enjoy the on-site lakes and ponds, and fishing is included in your stay so there are no supplements to pay; also included is access to the children’s play area so you really won’t have to venture too far to have a great holiday. If you can tear yourself away, you will find yourself in Wells-next-the-Sea in just under half an hour. Here there is a lovely mix of artisan and traditional seaside shops, restaurants, cafés, pubs and amusements. There is also a narrow gauge railway that takes you to the gorgeous wide, sandy beach and a much photographed quay. Equidistant is the bustling coastal market town of Sheringham, with Sheringham Park, North Norfolk Railway and two museums. Head along the coast and visit Cromer with its famous Edwardian seafront and pier. Travel east or west along this stunning coastline and you will find a chain of pretty seaside towns and villages offering marshes, beaches and quays. Make time for a trip to the medieval city of Norwich, with its splendid Norman castle, museums and guided ghost walks. Go shopping in the Norwich Lanes, alleyways of colourful independent shops, and then enjoy a meal, perhaps before taking in a show at one of the theatres. Built in the late 1700s, Hobland Barn had a number of uses, such as for cattle, grain and potato storage. It was renovated as a family home with light, space and the Norfolk countryside views at the heart of its design. Part of a cluster of similar conversions, Hobland Barn looks over sprawling fields, which can be viewed from the first floor balcony. Whilst it is the perfect rural location, the pretty seaside town of Gorleston-on-Sea is only 3 miles away, and if the traditional seaside experience is on your list of ‘to-dos’, Great Yarmouth is a little further, at 6 miles away, with attractions, rides and ice cream galore for all the family. Hobland Barn is ideally placed to explore the National Park further inland. You can take out a day boat, hire bikes or simply walk many miles along unspoilt water’s edge, taking in the nature, wildlife and simply just enjoying this unique landscape. History abounds in Norfolk and a trip to the fine city of Norwich must be on your list of things to see and do. With its castle at the heart, and an array of cobbled lanes to explore, it would take you all day and more to really experience all this city has to offer.

With the bus stop outside the park entrance, a great way of exploring Norfolk’s Coastline is by the local bus service, ‘The Coastal Hopper’, visiting towns and villages along the Coast Road. Sheringham has the headquarters of the Poppy Line North Norfolk Steam Railway, Splash and Fun Water Park, RNLI life boat station and museum, cliff top golf course, Sheringham Park (NT) and town centre with shops, café and restaurants. RSPB nature and bird reserves at Blakeney Quay, Morston Harbour, Cley next the Sea and Salthouse. An hours drive away is Holkham Hall (NT), Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall (NT). Wroxham, known as the capital of the Norfolk Broads offers daily boat hire and river trips available, shops, cafés and waterside restaurants.
