This ground floor property is open plan throughout which presents a well presented, fully equipped kitchen for all your culinary needs should you not wish to dine out at the many superb eateries close by along with a cosy sitting area which boasts a Freeview TV and a dining table which is ideal to have breakfast at and fuel up for the day’s adventures. On the same floor you have a plush kingsize bed and a delightful bathroom with a shower cubicle and a heated towel rail. To the rear of the property, you have a small patio area with seating, a great place to have a drink al fresco or a coffee whilst taking in the fresh morning air.
Situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this a perfect retreat for walkers, cyclists, and ramblers, with plenty of walks, cycle paths, bridleways, and established footpaths into picturesque countryside. There are two country pubs within walking distance of the property both serving home cooked food and worth a visit. Winebeck Farm is also situated just 300 yards from the popular Dalesway walk.
For those seeking to be less active, Ilkley is 5 minutes’ drive with its variety of shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs and afternoon tea is a must. Bolton Abbey is just a short drive away offering plenty of walking within the magnificent 30,000-acre grounds and picture-perfect picnic spots beside the river. The charming market town of Skipton also known as the ‘gateway to the dales’, is also 10 minutes away which is home to an ancient castle, cobbled high street and colourful street market. Pub and restaurant ½ mile.

With beautiful countryside views to the rear, this well equipped and spacious cottage is conveniently close to Skipton. This stone-built cottage has been beautifully styled throughout with spacious rooms, sumptuous furnishings and eclectic artwork. Enter from the cottage garden at the rear into a beautiful light filled kitchen with a breakfast/dining area with wooden floors. Patio doors offer views across the countryside as you sit at the table. The spacious living area steeped in rustic charm is stunning to step into; with beams, a comfortable sofa and chairs, and an electric wood burner set in a traditional fireplace, making a warm cosy setting for relaxing in. A window seat set in the recess looks out across the front garden. Through from the living room is a traditional styled room with a table for board games, comfortable armchairs and a bookcase laden with books. Upstairs are two spacious and comfortable bedrooms, one has dual aspect views and the most fabulous feature wall decor, the second has an en-suite shower room. There are attractive gardens to the front and the rear, and the rear lawned garden is a perfect spot to sit and take in the surrounding countryside.
The nearby 3000-acre grounds of Broughton Hall Estate are at your disposal, wander down through the estate and admire the imposing stately home of Broughton Hall itself, or spot wildlife and birds as well as quaint bridges across the river. Within the estate are the Land Rover Experience offices from where experience days are offered (by direct arrangement with the owner) for an exhilarating drive along the land rover track and obstacles on the estate. The purpose built Wellbeing Centre, Avalon at Broughton Hall, is right on your doorstep and offers the perfect way to unwind, be present and connect.
The property sits beside the A59 giving easy access to the popular market town of Skipton where all amenities can be found, including a train station, leisure centre and canal boat trips. The area is peppered with gourmet pubs serving local produce as well as hearty, traditional pub food, and there are a wide variety of restaurants and bars in Skipton to choose from should you wish to treat yourself and dine out during your stay.
The Tour de France and the Tour de Yorkshire have both passed through Skipton and the surrounding countryside in recent years. Why not bring your bike and explore some of the routes for yourself? The quaint village of Grassington with its individual shops and tea rooms is not to be missed, or visit Bolton Abbey for a relaxing afternoon and woodland walks by the River Wharfe. Set in the village of Goathland, perhaps better known as Aidensfield from the TV series Heartbeat, in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, it is in an excellent area for walking – the North Yorks Moors steam railway stops at the village station on its journey from Pickering to Grosmont. Horse riding can also be found nearby.
Whitby being only 9 miles away is a picturesque seaport famous for its Captain Cook connections, where the cobbled streets and yards stand in the shadow of the Abbey, overlooking the harbour. The 3 miles of sandy beaches lead to the pretty coastal village of Sandsend. Robin Hood’s Bay (renowned as a bygone smugglers’ haunt), Runswick Bay and Staithes are all worth a visit. Inland, the moors are scattered with villages, many with excellent inns. Goathland itself offers an excellent choice of inns and restaurants, in addition to local shops, post office and cafés. The cottage is situated in beautiful Raydale, a rural and unspoilt area of Wensleydale. It is surrounded by traditional farming country and ringed by high fells.
In the distance the dramatic peak of Addleborough can be seen and Lake Semerwater is a pleasant walk away. It is handy for many of the areas famous attractions, including the bustling little market town of Hawes and the pretty villages of Bainbridge and Askrigg, with its pub which was used as the local in the James Herriot series ’All Creatures Great and Small’.
Raydale is a haven for wildlife, with hares and deer often sighted in the surrounding fields at dawn and dusk, along with a wide variety of upland bird life including pheasant, partridge, curlew, duck and of course, Lake Semerwater stocked with a variety of fish. The hamlet of Marsett is set high in the hills above Bainbridge, providing far reaching panoramic views of the dales and fells beyond. Murmuration Cottage is situated in a fantastic location, just off one of Whitby’s main streets in the town centre, yet hidden away on Rose and Crown Yard. This terraced cottage is named after the bird formations which you can see from the windows looking out towards the Abbey. Perfect for a romantic break or a small family, Murmuration Cottage has something for everyone. The more than adequate kitchen is situated on the lower level, a comfortable living room is on the first floor, and on the second floor are the bedrooms. There is a spectacular view from the rear of the cottage of the Abbey and the East Cliff.

The wonderful gothic town of Whitby has something for everyone, from Whitby Abbey to the old town and its cobbled back streets complete with bazaars. No visit to Whitby is complete without challenging the 199 steps to the top of the town and Abbey; it’s definitely worth the effort for the view alone. Whitby plays host to regular events such as the Steampunk Weekend, the Whitby Regatta and the now world famous Goth Weekender.

This is also the perfect place to make as your base for exploring the North York Moors National Park and the Yorkshire Heritage Coast. Travel by steam train into the heart of ‘Heartbeat’ country or take a fishing trip out to sea on one of the many boat trips that leave the harbour with the hope of seeing whales, seals or dolphins. The Cleveland Way snakes along the coast and is a must for those who enjoy the great outdoors. Robin Hood’s Bay and Runswick Bay are just some of the highlights along the coast, whilst the medieval walled city of York is just an hours’ drive or train ride away. The traditional seaside town of Scarborough is just down the coast with its North and South Bays, plus the open-air theatre which hosts many summertime concerts with international stars.
