Skipton, a bustling market town, just over 14 miles away, has a wide sweeping high street, from where you can tour the amazing Norman castle or take a soothing trip along the canal. Shorter outings from Kettlewell also cover the unsung delights of the National Trust’s Braithwaite Hall and English Heritage’s Middleham Castle, as well as the splendours of Bolton Abbey and Malham Cove.     This stone-built, end terrace cottage, set back from the main road on the outskirts of the village of Long Preston, has a pleasant rural outlook to the rear and the soothing sounds of the river alongside. The cottage offers comfortable furnishings and good use of space. The living room is a perfect place to relax after a day exploring with comfortable sofas, a large TV and a wood burner to get warm and cosy in front of. The kitchen/dining room is well equipped and has a second wood burner should you wish to gather around the table while making your plans. A short drive is the market town of Settle with a wide range of shops and you can also take a trip on the Settle-Carlisle Railway line which crosses some of the most outstandingly beautiful, upland scenery. Experience the Ribblehead Viaduct, with services running to Leeds in the south and Morecombe on the coast. Visit Ingleborough Caves, the Ingleton waterfall trail or the market town of Skipton, with its spectacular castle, numerous attractions, shopping, heritage, walking and food and drink. Wildlife enthusiasts can enjoy a whale watching cruise, searching for seals, dolphins, and whales, which frequent the shores especially in September. Or travel further south along the coast to Bempton Cliffs where thousands of seabirds nest annually at the RSPB site.
    The coastline here is fabulous with the neighbouring villages of Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick, Staithes and Sandsend all perfect for a scenic day out all year round.     Seaton Court has a fascinating past, the hall was named after the de Seton dynasty who resided from 1130 to 1307 and whose family made allegiances with and marriages to the Scottish Royal family. Passed down through generations, before slipping into disrepair. The present owner (who is descended from one of the previous residents Sir Francis Bigod) purchased the estate in 2002 and employed a team of specialist masons and craftsmen who have been lovingly rebuilding and restoring this incredible place of local heritage. Located in private grounds on the edge of Staithes on the breathtakingly beautiful North Yorkshire Coast, surrounded by the heather clad North Yorkshire Moors.
    Stepping inside Seaton Court you enter into the hallway, where your walking boots and coats can be stored in the utility room.     The cottage is named after one of Whitby’s famous residents, the oldest known poet in England. Caedmon was an illiterate cow herder who lived in Whitby back in the medieval days. One night after a busy day tending to the cattle, he had a dream where he was singing beautifully and it filled his heart with joy. When he woke he began creating songs and poetry. The locals heard him singing and they were inspired by his incredible talent. Word spread and he became an accomplished and much admired poet.
