A perfect place for an active holiday or just to relax. The five mile stretch of sandy beach is protected by the rocky grandeur of Filey Brigg. Surfing, fishing, yachting, golf, walking and bird watching are just a few of the available activities. The Evron Centre provides plentiful entertainment with music, song, dance and theatre on offer. Filey has many restaurants and hostelries providing superb cuisine. Should you wish to travel further afield you will find that Yorkshire glories in one of the finest stretches of coastline in Britain, golden beaches, rocky coves and towering cliffs. Further to the north is Whitby, a picturesque fishing port and inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The North York Moors National Park and the Yorkshire Moors Railway, 18 miles of preserved railway are both close by, as is Flamingo Land. Shops 3 miles, pub 1 mile.

Built in the 1800’s, this traditional Yorkshire stone cottage is full of character. The hamlet of Wrench Green is situated on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park, and is set amongst the most beautiful countryside close to the village of Hackness. The location is one of the most picturesque areas in Yorkshire, with fantastic walks and bike rides right on your doorstep. Head off on a woodland walk or follow some of the routes of the Tour de Yorkshire on your bike. The Dalby Forest is close by, home to the World Mountain Bike Championships. Have a go yourself on the world cup trails, or there are tracks to suit all abilities. With over 8,000 acres of woodland with wonderful walks and nature trails, this is an outdoor enthusiasts paradise. The cottage makes a great base from which to visit the North York Moors National Park, the east coast, Yorkshire Wolds and the many wonderful market towns that Yorkshire is famous for. The coast is just 6 miles away with Scarborough, Filey, Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby all being a short drive from the cottage. Beach 6½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

Squirrel Cottage is a traditional cottage situated on one of the oldest streets of Seamer village. This row of cottages formed part of the original Main Street, but now lies tucked back in a quiet corner of the village.
The cottage is beautifully presented by the owners and makes a great holiday home for couples or a young family. All the mod cons are provided in the kitchen, which leads through to the cosy living room, with French doors leading to the garden. The enclosed garden is well kept and is ideal for the dog or children.
The benefit of this property is the private parking, just 4 yards from the main door, or the option of using the garage. The bedrooms are spacious and light. The single room provides a small double bed, for that extra comfort.
The village has three very popular pubs that all serve food, as well as a small supermarket, post office, church and village hall. It also has one of the most popular fish and chip shops on this coastline. Cayton Bay is the nearest beach, but Scarborough and Filey are just a few minutes away. Scarborough is a traditional seaside resort with lots to do for all age groups. From theatres, restaurants, the cricket ground, the Sea Life Centre and the very popular Alpamare Water Park, with its wave machines.
Seamer is ideally situated for visiting both the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the Yorkshire Wolds. The Dalby Forest with its fantastic bike trails is close by. From Seamer you can catch a train direct to York, voted as one of the top 10 cities to visit. Fantastic museums, fantastic shopping and fantastic history. Don’t miss it! Beach 4 miles. Robin’s Rest is also an ideal location to explore the Heritage Coast and its picturesque coastal resorts, such as Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick Bay, Staithes and many more nestled into the coastline. All of which take you back to when the coast was a haven for smugglers.
You can catch a steam train into the heart of the Yorkshire Moors, which is perfect for hikers and bikers. The medieval walled city of York and its many attractions is also just an hour’s drive away, boasting the Jorvik Viking Centre and National Railway Museum. Beach ¼ mile. You are only a 10-minute stroll downhill to the harbour and the heart of the town, making this an ideal choice for guests who wish to explore the many delights of this coastal destination. At the front of the house you have a designated parking bay as well as the secure artificial lawned front garden where you can sit outside in the sunshine.
Stepping inside you are welcomed into the hallway with a spacious open plan lounge and dining room at the front of the house. The kitchen is modern and well equipped, so that you can create all your favourite meals. Upstairs on the first floor you have a kingsize bedroom as well as a twin room with zip and link beds, along with the main bathroom.
On the third floor the attic has been converted to a third bedroom with zip and link beds to allow flexibilty and a bathroom with toilet and basin. This property has been completely renovated throughout in 2023 and is finished to a high specification ensuring you have a stay to remember.
Whitby is a proud seafaring town; you can find out more at the museums or even first hand up at the abbey ruins. Walk through the whale bone archway on the West Cliff or visit the shipwreck on Saltwick Bay and look up into the cliffs to spot the smugglers’ tunnels. For those who wish to experience the wonders of this inspiring area, why not take a long, lazy walk amid the scenic beauty of the North York Moors National Park, which can be accessed by the heritage steam train winding its way through the rolling hills of heather? You can also explore quaint coastal villages such as Robin Hood’s Bay, Staithes or Runswick Bay. Take in the sights along the seafront at Filey, Scarborough or Saltburn. And if you’re a history buff, take a trip into York to soak up the culture brought by both the Romans and the Vikings. Closer to home, the town of Whitby has the long golden stretch of sandy beach, the 199 steps up to the St Mary’s Church perched on the cliff top, the boat trips and the freshly caught fish and seafood.
