Next to the site there is a popular Thai restaurant and you can also head into the thriving village of Pocklington which is known as the gateway to the Wolds. Here you will find a local pub as well as a couple of supermarkets, with a market every Tuesday. In less than a 30-minute drive you will locate the walled city of York. Whilst here, you can visit the Gothic-style cathedral, step inside the time capsule of the Jorvik Viking Centre, or enjoy the vast array of shops, restaurants and pubs within the city. Nearby, for children, you have York Maze, Piglets Farm as well as Flamingo Land theme park and zoo. There are some wonderful walking trails nearby making this a great destination for hikers as well as dog lovers. Shop 2 miles, pub 1 ½ mile and restaurant 500 yards.

There are plenty of places to visit and things to do in the local area. The Spa town of Harrogate, 9 miles, is home to the famous Betty’s Tearooms and the Turkish Baths. Take a trip to the pretty town of Ilkley, 12 miles, to stroll along the Grove with its shops, cafés and restaurants in abundance. Otley, 7 miles, is a great place to enjoy a walk along the river and the closest town for supermarkets etc. You also have instant access to explore the National Trust site of Brimham Rocks, 8.6 miles, and the World Heritage Site Fountains Abbey, 12 miles, which are both a must.

Strensall is located on the River Foss with a wide range of facilities including three pubs, a choice of grocery shops, post office, takeaway and a fish and chip shop. On the doorstep is York Golf Club and Strensall Common, a huge conservation area maintained by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and which is popular with birdwatchers.
Regular buses run from the village to the centre of the ancient walled city of York, 7 miles away. Steeped in history and brimming with attractions, York appeals to all ages. Set within the delightful little village of Wighill, which has its excellent pub and is located just outside York, one of the most visited cities outside London. You have quick access to the independent shops, café, pubs, restaurants, and the many tourist attractions York has to offer. Other towns and cities close by are the fashionable spa town of Harrogate and the bustling city of Leeds. Brook Hall is also on the doorstep of the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks, both full of bike trails and beautiful scenic walks. Brook Hall is also very well positioned for both York and Wetherby racecourses, so why not have a day at the races? If you and the family fancied a day at the beach, the wonderful east coast can be found in just over one hour. Hot tub hire is available but guests would need to arrange this with the owner before their arrival.
