Kingfisher Cottage has recently benefitted from a full refurbishment and sits within a small cluster of barn conversions, which have been recently developed to create a small group of holiday cottages completed to an excellent standard.  Each property has oak flooring; is well-equipped with many modern appliances suitable for contemporary living and all are tastefully furnished throughout.  This complex sits in a very private setting and offers the additional bonus of being only 50 yards from the trout and salmon rich South Tyne River, where fishing is available on a pre booked basis for a fee dependent on month of the salmon season.

This is a Victorian workers cottage with many original features and was built for the farm workers of the Cragside Estate. This is a dog friendly property where two dogs are welcome, although they need to be kept on a lead due being on a working farm, there is an enclosed area where they can be let off and have a good run.
Staying at this cottage is to experience the history first-hand of the Cragside Estate’s Model Farm. Brimming with character on the edge of the National Park, East Cottage is in an ideal location for exploring the many visitor attractions throughout this glorious county. Only two miles from the pretty market town of Rothbury with its own private stretch of salmon and trout fishing (by arrangement and seasonal), East Cottage is set on a small historical site featuring the only agricultural weigh bridge left in the UK today and a Grade II* listed building of Agricultural Importance. The site is linked to the Cragside, Rothbury and Coquetdale Area. The property was built by Lord Armstrong of Cragside in the 1880s as part of his Cragside Estate to show off his model farm.
The cottage boasts eco-friendly features and is powered by a wood burning stove and an Esse Range in the kitchen as well as a traditional electric oven. With a large garden to the side with lovely views, East Cottage is an idyllic location for families or friends. East Cottage is situated on a working rare breed farm with cattle, sheep and goats. The Historic Houses Association is a site of interest, tours available to book.

Ashleigh House is a joyful property resting in the heart of Belford village, set in the stunning surroundings of the Northumberland countryside. Enter the contemporary living room and be greeted by a fabulous wood burner rest your head and snuggle up at the end of an action-packed day and unwind with a movie. Rustle up a hearty meal in the kitchen then enjoy it in the delightful dining area, the perfect place to pop open a bottle of wine and enjoy a good social gathering. Why not head out onto the back terrace? A modern space of decking, slate, stone and lavender, to enjoy some evening sun and sit around the chiminea and enjoy the quiet of the village. Finish off the evening in the second living room, the perfect spot to relax and unwind with a good book. Retire to one of the two bedrooms, designed to give you a restful sleep. The original stairs may be considered steep but not excessively steep. A handrail is provided. There are other small flights of steps between rooms due to the property’s age.
Glorious Belford is often described as ’The Gateway to the Secret Kingdom’ and offers many facilities including shops (newsagents next door), a tearoom, pubs and a golf course with driving range. The picture-postcard, coastal village of Bamburgh, dominated by its majestic fortress and wide expanse of golden, sandy beach is only 5 miles away. The small and friendly market town of Wooler sits at the foot of the Cheviot Hills, a popular destination for those who enjoy cycling, hang-gliding, golf, horse riding and walking, with the challenging route of the St Cuthbert’s Way close by. Chatton Trout Fishery invites amateur anglers to fish, without needing a licence, on a picturesque, 4-acre lake.
Belford is located only a mile from the A1, giving easy access to the elegant Georgian town of Berwick, which straddles the salmon-rich River Tweed to the north. The cobbled market town of Alnwick, protected by its dramatic castle and offering a wide array of amenities, is close by. Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction to see the Grande Cascade Waterfall and dine in the restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe.
Take a trip to the vibrant cities of Newcastle-upon-Tyne or Edinburgh, both only an hour’s drive away, or enjoy the journey by train from Berwick or Alnmouth. Ashleigh House provides a comfortable base from which to explore the Northumbrian countryside, along the Northumberland Heritage Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the Scottish Borders. Resting on the edge of Northumberland’s stunning coast, in the charming village of Alnmouth, is the beautiful Garden House. This unique property is reverse level, upstairs on the first floor you will discover the living space, the social hub of the home, a contemporary, family bathroom where you can take a leisurely soak or opt for an invigorating shower, the kitchen/diner which is a large social room, perfect for hosting hearty dinners and get togethers, with French doors leading you straight out to the rear garden, a sun trap and little nestled den making al-fresco dining a must during the summer months! As the evening draws to a close, retire to the master bedroom on the ground floor where you can freshen up with in the en-suite shower room. Choose between a further king room on the lower ground floor or a ¾ double on the second floor. All rooms with good storage, homely and comfortable ensuring a great night’s sleep. You will also find a convenient utility room on the lower ground floor.
To the front of the property, you can enjoy a decked terrace area and to the rear of the property, you have the patio area with garden furniture. Steps lead you up to the upper level of the garden where there is a small, grassed area and parking. Garden House also has a separate annex attached for larger parties which can be discussed with the owner - please note that the annexe may be occupied by other guests during your stay.

There’s a lot to enjoy in Alnwick, why not start at the famous Barter Books, then make your way to the enchanting Alnwick Castle to start your own Harry Potter adventure. Further North brings you to Seahouses, Northumberland’s most popular fishing village. Don’t miss your chance to hop on a boat and head to the Farne Island’s and capture some unforgettable memories.

Heading 4 miles east is the picture-perfect coastal village of Alnmouth where there is a gorgeous golden sandy beach and stunning local eateries alongside quaint local shops. A short drive west brings you to the small town of Rothbury.

Set by the Northumberland Dark Sky National Park, the least populated of the UK National Parks with a diverse landscape attracting visitors from all over the world, steeped in history in this ancient unspoilt place. This beautiful unspoilt area is close to Kielder Forest and Water Park which is fantastic for water enthusiasts, mountain bikers, cyclists and walkers where days out with breathtaking scenery is a daily treat. Kielder Observatory is also worth a visit. The Scottish Carter Bar with easy access to the Scottish Borders is only 18 miles should you wish to venture into Scotland during your stay. The small village of Otterburn is 9 miles with a good outdoor shop based in Otterburn Mill.

Day trips over to the coast don’t take too long and make a lovely change where you can visit the beaches and castles of Northumberland, perhaps stopping at Alnwick Castle and explore the cobbled streets. In 2018, Northumberland was voted the best county to holiday by the British Tourism Awards. Wherever you go in and around the county you will be sure of a real ’Geordie’ welcome from the locals. This large village has a local butcher, supermarket and all the amenities you need during your stay. Cafés, pubs and restaurants are only a two-minute walk, so leave your car and walk out for an evening meal.
