Corbridge itself is a picturesque village which sits on the banks of the River Tyne and is renowned for its charming shops, quaint tea rooms and several restaurants and pubs. Corbridge is only a few miles from Hadrian’s Wall where walkers and cyclists can explore the many historic paths and roads that were once walked by the Romans.
The countryside around Corbridge is a great area for touring. Enjoy a day out at Beamish, the world famous open air Museum telling the story of life in the north east of England during the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s. It truly is an amazing experience.
The beautiful cities of Durham and Newcastle are both within easy access, and you will find the Newcastle Metro Centre, a must for the shopaholic. Whittle Dene Reservoir House is a Grade ll listed building, built in 1848 by the well-known architect John Dobson for the Gateshead and Newcastle Water Company. Originally the superintendent’s house, it stands proudly on the banks of the reservoir with uninterrupted views from all windows.
