This holiday cottage, newly converted in 2019, is situated just outside of the village of Baschurch which is set near to Shrewsbury and Ellesmere. Baschurch offers pubs, takeaways, churches, a large convenience store and cash point. The local bus, which operates between Shrewsbury and Ellesmere, collects and drops off on Springfield Barns main drive allowing guests to leave the car behind.
Shropshire is a gem of a county with so much to explore within easy reach. The north of the county offers the meres, mosses and canals along with the county town of Shrewsbury. Whereas the south of the county offers the stunning Shropshire Hills and food renowned market town of Ludlow. The county is home to Ironbridge World Heritage Site and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site and nine National Trust sites including Attingham Park.
Shrewsbury is the birthplace of Charles Darwin and is a wonder of medieval black and white buildings. The town offers fantastic dining, individual shops, craft markets, museums, art galleries and the stunning Dingle within the Quarry Park.
The barn is set within the boundary of the owner’s grounds and it neighbours The Parlour (ref UK10958) on one side. There is private parking for two cars within the main parking area and the property is accessed from the main drive.
You step through the front door into a very modern, bright, airy open plan conversion with vaulted ceilings and beautifully restored original exposed beams. Firstly, into the fully fitted and equipped kitchen area with breakfast bar, oven, microwave, fridge and ample storage space. Then into the living area with dining table for two people and the peaceful living area with a 32” Freeview TV and sofa. To the rear of the living area is the sleeping area with a kingsize bed and an en-suite shower room. It is surprisingly spacious for a sleeps two conversion.

The barns at Bretton Alkmere Farm are perfect for a family get together or a friend’s holiday with plenty of luxurious extras. The owners have worked with an interior designer to give the barns the extra ’wow’ factor when it comes to décor. The kitchens are spacious, modern, and fully equipped for any chefs in the party, but if you don’t feel like cooking, there’s plenty of fantastic restaurants nearby that the owners will gladly share their recommendations. All the barns have wood flooring throughout and charming exposed beams, and there has been a great deal of attention to detail so that you can relax in style and comfort. There are Smart TVs with Netflix if you fancy a movie night. Each of the barns come with enclosed gardens and patios, with breathtaking views of the surrounding Shropshire countryside and plenty of parking for everyone. In addition to the fabulous accommodation, the owners offer you a luxury hamper and if there’s availability the children can be shown around the farm. The family have a fantastic farm shop not too far away, so that you can indulge in delicious local produce during your stay.
You are located only a 10-minute drive from the beautiful and very popular town of Shrewsbury, which is a great place to explore. Bursting with independent shops, coffee bars and restaurants and set on the banks of the River Severn, there’s plenty to see and do. Farmers markets are laid on throughout the year, and events happening all the time, it’s a must visit. In the nearby Shropshire Hills, hikers and cyclists can explore the varied landscape, stopping in at numerous quaint villages along the way to explore meadows, hills, and woodland. Or visit one of many of the National Trust properties close by. There’ something for everyone, the special places in Shropshire are just waiting to be discovered. Shropshire Glamping is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the stunning countryside. All the accommodation is designed, built, and individually styled with luxury furnishings and fixtures. The Geo Dome, Summerhouse and Kingfisher Pod are set around the lake, each with their own view and where the huge variety of interesting geese and birdlife gather including a kingfisher family, grebe and tufted ducks. The Willow Shepherd’s Hut nestles in the oak tree field, has views over the field and across the stream towards the lake and is reached by foot along a gravelled walkway.
The Willow Hut is uniquely decorated and finished with cleverly designed features to make use of the comfy space available. A raised ‘cabin-style’ kingsize bed has the same level view through the window along the field to the oak tree. Under the bed is where the clever attention to detail can be appreciated. A pull-out hideaway table with 2 padded benches can be pulled out when dining, drinking or just sitting. One of the benches can be pulled out slightly and used to climb onto the raised bed. The bathroom has a full-size shower, beautiful granite sink and corner toilet. The hut is lit inside and out with lovely industrial-style lighting. The double ‘stable door’ style doors lead out onto the steps to the garden patio where there is a table and chairs, barbeque and fire pit. There is a newly planted small orchard and shrubs. To stock up your kitchen, head to Shawbury, 10 minutes away, where you’ll find a small supermarket a bakery, takeaway restaurants, and an organic farm shop.

Shrewsbury is full of finds to be discovered by foot or by boat; the River Severn is a must, as is the array of independents from cafes to boutique shops, the castle, the old market hall featuring local artists and lovely shops and eateries, all in the picturesque market town with over 1,000 years of history.

Sitting at 407 metres, it is popular with hikers and walkers as it offers superb views over Shropshire. Further afield takes you to the medieval market town of Ludlow, famous for its castle as well as many food and drink festivals throughout the year to enjoy. Take a trip to the town of Bridgnorth, home to The Severn Valley Steam Railway, explore the World Heritage Site of the Ironbridge Gorge or discover the numerous National Trust properties of Attingham Park, Benthall Hall, Sunnycroft House and Carding Mill Valley all within easy reach.
The owners offer delightful breakfast packs, just ask them directly prior to your arrival. Access to the accommodation is reached by foot via the gravelled pathways. The owners can transport belongings for you with their utility buggy.
