A much sought-after lakeside bar and restaurant are just ½ mile down the road, and uniquely Elland is home to one of Britain’s oldest surviving purpose-built cinemas, as well as a popular and independent microbrewery. Brighouse is a vibrant yet traditional town with ample amenities, a weekly market, and a reputation for hosting great festivals. It also has its own train station which provides connections to a variety of West Yorkshire towns and villages, including Hebden Bridge and Halifax, as well as offering direct services to the major tourist attractions of both Manchester and Leeds. Weavers Cottage is a wonderful pet-friendly holiday cottage less than a mile from the very centre of the super vibrant market town of Holmfirth. Comfortable and cosy it makes the perfect base for a getaway with or without your furry four-legged friends. Equipped with everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay, the open-plan living area features a comfortable sofa which also converts to a sofa bed suitable for a child. There’s a Smart TV and the kitchen is well-equipped with all the utensils you need to whip up a delicious meal. Upstairs, the bedroom has the most beautiful beamed, vaulted ceiling, a comfortable double bed, and the convenience of en-suite facilities. Outside there’s a private parking space available, however those with larger vehicles will need to take caution.
Holmfirth is a beautiful ‘picture postcard’ town with plenty to see and do, including pet-friendly pubs and cafés where you can enjoy a meal and a drink. Probably best known as the back drop to the long running ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ TV series, quite excitingly, fans of the show can check out iconic locations such as Sid’s Café, Nora Batty’s steps and jump on board the ‘Summerwine Magic Tour’. Keen cyclists can re-create the Holme Moss Summit Climb as seen in 2014 Tour de France, and for evening entertainment, Holmfirth Picturedrome is reported to be the North of England’s finest intimate music venue. Quite uniquely, Holmfirth is also home to its very own vineyard where you can take a tour or grab a bite to eat. Of course all of this is on the northern edge of the Peak District National Park meaning opportunities for walkers are endless.

To the rear of the property, there is a superb, enclosed patio area, a fantastic place to sit in the summer months with your favourite holiday tipple or simply have your morning coffee whilst breathing in the fresh morning air.
Brontë Country is nearby, offering lots of wonderful walking routes across the moors, and for those keen on cycling, why not try a section of the Tour de France route that runs through Keighley and Haworth? For a more relaxing way to explore the area, hop on the Worth Valley Steam Train from Keighley Station, which takes you on a 5-mile journey through the Haworth moors and on to Oxenhope, once home to the Brontë Sisters. The village of Haworth, 4 miles, is well worth a visit with its pretty cobbled streets lined with bunting and old-fashioned windows giving you a glimpse of the wares within. There is an array of antique shops, independent bookstores, pavement cafés, and restaurants, plus the Brontë Parsonage Museum. The market town of Skipton, also known as ‘The Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales’, 13 miles, is another great day out, with a tempting selection of bars and restaurants, a medieval castle, and bustling street markets.
You can also take a stroll along the Leeds and Liverpool canal that runs through, or simply watch the barges chug past from a bar overlooking the water. Grab a delicious afternoon tea at Betty’s Tea room in Ilkley and head to Bolton Abbey for a picture-perfect picnic beside the river.

Originally three cottages and now one luxury holiday home, Weavers Cottage is ideal for families and friends to enjoy relaxed gatherings or special celebrations. The spacious open plan kitchen/dining/bar area is the heart of the house and perfect for entertaining with the large oak dining table seating up to twelve.

Both villages can be easily reached on foot or bicycle along the canal directly from the property. Just a short walk through adjacent fields will bring you to the Olive Branch Inn with its relaxed atmosphere, fine dining and outdoor seating to take in the beautiful views. The property is burrowed amidst the National Trust Marsden Moor Estate; guests will be spoilt for choice with more than 5000 acres to explore. Whether you prefer to explore the landscape on foot, by bike or through the lens of a camera there are plenty of things to see and do. The rugged landscape and steep climbs are the perfect challenge for keen mountain bikers, while others might prefer to wander alongside the water’s edge of the canal and retrace ancient packhorse trails to Standedge Tunnel with it’s fascinating Visitor Centre – where you can learn about the longest, highest and deepest canal tunnel in Britain. Marsden Train station can be reached on foot or just a few minutes drive away and offers easy access to Manchester (36mins) and Leeds (45mins) for that Big City vibe.

In Holmfirth you’ll find a wide selection of cafés, bars, pubs and restaurants to suit the majority of tastes, together with a century old picture house and live music venue, and also a vineyard. Huddersfield is around 8 miles away and home to the UK’s first eco-spa, and a whole host of Peak District towns, villages and attractions are within easy reach to explore.

Millbarn is a beautiful 3 storey, grade II listed holiday property situated in the west Yorkshire village of Golcar, set just above the Colne Valley. Set next to the friendly owner’s home, it offers wonderful views of the surrounding moorland and hills. Set on the outskirts of Huddersfield just a few miles from the moors, Golcar itself is a stone built weaver’s village dating back to the 1800s. Steeped in history you’ll find ample local and independent amenities including a shop, butchers and selection of dog friendly, food serving pubs and cafes. Golcar is also home to the Colne Valley Museum, who quite wonderfully provide details of Ginnel Trails you can follow around the village, marked by plaques on the walls. For a wider range of shopping and impressive array of eating establishments the colourful market town of Huddersfield is just 4 miles away and is well served by good bus routes.
The neighbouring villages of Slaithwaite and Marsden are within a 15-minute drive away and are home to vintage shops and award winning cafes and restaurants.
