Set on the edge of Abergynolwyn, a village that lies in the shadows of Cader Idris and situated between the popular seaside resort of Tywyn and market town Dolgellau, this beautiful detached barn conversion provides spacious accommodation, ideal for families wishing to enjoy the peace and tranquillity. Tywyn is surrounded by the Tarren Hills, and holds the 7-mile long Talyllyn Narrow Gauge Steam Railway that runs between Tywyn Wharf and Nant Gwernol. Nearby Tal-y-llyn lake and Talyllyn steam railway are always popular with visitors, as are the sandy beaches along Cardigan Bay. Some visitor attractions include the Centre for Alternative Technology, King Arthur’s Labyrinth, Animalarium, Coed-y-Brenin Forest and Portmeirion Italianate village. Other places to visit are Birds Rock, Castell y Bere, Dolgoch Falls Walk, Aberdovey, Corris slate mines and craft centres. The location is also great for easy access into Snowdonia. Close to the Snowdonia National Park and a 20-minute drive to Snowdon itself, these three spacious, attractive and comfortable barn conversions boast stunning views over beautiful countryside. Foryd Bay, where the properties are located, is a designated RSPB Lapwing reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales has also become the UK’s newest UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021. Within easy driving distance there are a myriad exciting activities including mountain biking, surfing, sailing, excellent walking, riding and golf. The properties are also conveniently located for Zip World.
Caernarfon, with its magnificent castle, and a fine selection of shops, restaurants and pubs is just 4 miles away, and is also the start of the Welsh Highland Railway for scenic journeys into the heart of Snowdonia. Tai Coch Chatham is a perfect location for relaxing winter escapes and summer beach holidays. Shop and restaurant 2½ miles, pub serving food 1 mile (seasonal).

The barn is situated in the grounds of a small farm, and is an ideal holiday base close to the mountains of Snowdonia. Tan Rallt Barn has plenty of space for eight people and can accommodate climbing and walking groups coming into the Snowdonia National Park. It’s a great location for outdoor enthusiasts being close to the Ogwen Valley and Zip World - the longest zipwire in the northern hemisphere, and just a short drive from Llanberis and Snowdon, with its famous mountain railway. You’ll find Penrhyn Castle (NT) just down the road, whilst Caernarfon, with its impressive castle, the Isle of Anglesey with 125 miles of coastline, Capel Curig and Betws-y-Coed are all close by. The GreenWood Forest Park at Y Felinheli, Yr Hwylfan (The Fun Centre) at Caernarfon and Electric Mountain at Llanberis are all well worth a visit. Shop 0.5 miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles. There is a unique cliff-type garden with a flight of steps up to the small seating area above the house, from which to admire the view of the River Glaslyn and the surrounding mountains. Beddgelert has much to offer the visitor, including the famous legend of the faithful hound Gelert. You can ride a steam train on the Welsh Highland Railway to Caernarfon. The family-run pony trekking and equestrian centre on-site is just on the north side of the farm, away from our holiday cottages with menage Hire (arena), riders or complete beginners are catered for.
