Set on the edge of Abergynolwyn, a village that lies in the shadows of Cader Idris and situated between the popular seaside resort of Tywyn and market town Dolgellau, this beautiful detached barn conversion provides spacious accommodation, ideal for families wishing to enjoy the peace and tranquillity. Tywyn is surrounded by the Tarren Hills, and holds the 7-mile long Talyllyn Narrow Gauge Steam Railway that runs between Tywyn Wharf and Nant Gwernol. Nearby Tal-y-llyn lake and Talyllyn steam railway are always popular with visitors, as are the sandy beaches along Cardigan Bay. Some visitor attractions include the Centre for Alternative Technology, King Arthur’s Labyrinth, Animalarium, Coed-y-Brenin Forest and Portmeirion Italianate village. Other places to visit are Birds Rock, Castell y Bere, Dolgoch Falls Walk, Aberdovey, Corris slate mines and craft centres. The location is also great for easy access into Snowdonia. The Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales has also become the UK’s newest UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021. Within easy driving distance there are a myriad exciting activities including mountain biking, surfing, sailing, excellent walking, riding and golf. Caernarfon, with its magnificent castle, and a fine selection of shops, restaurants and pubs is just 4 miles away, and is also the start of the Welsh Highland Railway for scenic journeys into the heart of Snowdonia. The barn is situated in the grounds of a small farm, and is an ideal holiday base close to the mountains of Snowdonia. Tan Rallt Barn has plenty of space for eight people and can accommodate climbing and walking groups coming into the Snowdonia National Park. It’s a great location for outdoor enthusiasts being close to the Ogwen Valley and Zip World - the longest zipwire in the northern hemisphere, and just a short drive from Llanberis and Snowdon, with its famous mountain railway. You’ll find Penrhyn Castle (NT) just down the road, whilst Caernarfon, with its impressive castle, the Isle of Anglesey with 125 miles of coastline, Capel Curig and Betws-y-Coed are all close by. The GreenWood Forest Park at Y Felinheli, Yr Hwylfan (The Fun Centre) at Caernarfon and Electric Mountain at Llanberis are all well worth a visit. Shop 0.5 miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles. This lovely, detached farmhouse sits in rolling countryside within the beautiful Snowdonia National Park just outside the little hamlet of Rhyduchaf and is two miles from the historic market town of Bala. The farmhouse offers four good sized bedrooms and there is plenty of space to relax. There is a pleasant yard where guests can relax with a glass of wine or it makes a great place to dine al fresco.
Bala offers a choice of places to eat out with plenty of cafés and eateries for you to choose from. You can walk straight from the door or hop in the car to explore the area. The National White Water Centre is close by, where you can experience the thrill of rafting or canyoning, whilst more sedate activities may be found on the shores of Bala Lake which is close by. Take a trip on a steam train on the narrow gauge railway along the lake shore between Bala and Llanuwchllyn, have a day at the beach over on the coast at Barmouth, or try some Welsh foodie delights at the award-winning Rhug Estate Organic Farm Shop at Corwen. Further afield in Blaenau Ffestiniog is the incredible Bounce Below where the whole family can try bouncing on trampoline nets deep underground in an old slate cavern, and Zip World, the largest zip wire zone in the world where you can fly high over the quarries whilst enjoying the spectacular view as you try not to scream! Also within easy reach are the sandy beaches of the Cardigan Bay Coast, just 23 miles away at Barmouth.
