The property boasts a private hot tub which can be enjoyed all year round, and should the great British weather take a turn for the worse, you can retreat to your ‘Cave’. This has been built by the owner as an indulgent folly and is weatherproof and with a means of heating.
Stalmine is located approximately 5 miles from the small market town of Poulton-le-Fylde which has a good selection of shops, bars, and cafés. Other places that are worth a visit along the Fylde coast include Thornton Cleveleys with its old-fashioned charm and promenade, 7 miles, Fleetwood with its Freeport Outlet Shopping Village, 10 miles, and of course Blackpool, 9 miles, whose many attractions include The Tower, Blackpool Zoo, Pleasure Beach, Sea Life Centre, and Madame Tussauds.
Apart from being accessible for the coast, Carr End Barn A is also well-placed for exploring rural Lancashire. Ribble Valley with its pretty villages is within an hour’s drive, and it’s an excellent choice for walks and country pubs. The Forest of Bowland, which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, can also be reached within an hour’s drive. The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are also very accessible by road and can be reached in an hour. The city of Lancaster is just 13 miles away and Preston is 19 miles. Beach 9¾ miles. Just 10 minutes’ drive from Skegness are the long white sands of the east coast. There is plenty to see and do in and around the area. Less than a mile away is a good pub for families, which serves both food and drink. The closest beach for lazy summer walks, building sandcastles, sunbathing or indulging in bracing winter wanderings, is 10 minutes away by road, and the nearest golf course, North Shore, is the same distance away. Keen fishermen will enjoy the coarse fishing lakes just 300 yards away.
The town of Skegness has all the facilities you would expect of an established seaside town and modern commercial centre - shops, bars, pubs, restaurants, cafés, cinema, theatre, fun fair, seaside amusements, park, aquarium, sports and fishing facilities, as well as a hospital and excellent road and rail links. The Garden Cottage stands detached in the beautiful grounds of Thorpe Hall. Built around 1790, part of the building used to be the old apple store, where the apples from the orchards on the estate would be collected by the gardeners and stored here. Lovingly restored, the owners have kept lots of the original features, and the dining room has limed oak furniture. It is a perfect ’chocolate box’ cottage. Downstairs has been designed with full disabled access throughout the ground floor - there is a twin bedroom with an en-suite wet room for the less mobile (with emergency alert). This is a perfect property for holidaymakers having a family mix of all ages: there are three bedrooms on the ground floor and two on the first floor. There is also disabled access to the garden. All the rooms are spacious and light, and with the extra living room, it is ideal for families to have their own space. The cottages are set amongst the beautiful country estate of Thorpe Hall, a magnificent retreat in the Yorkshire Wolds and situated in Rudston, near Bridlington. The Hall is a Grade II building which was built in the early 1700s and is still very much a working estate, and it forms an important part of the local community. The local village of Rudston is less than a mile away, where the churchyard contains the monolith from which the village gets its name (Rood Stane). The cottage is situated a mile from the village, where you will find a small shop along the way.
The nearest town is Bridlington just over 4 miles away, and from there you have access along the east coast from Whitby, Scarborough and Filey, right down to the resort of Hornsea. The area has lots of stately homes to visit, including Sewerby Hall, which is only a few minutes drive away, a fine example of an early Georgian residence and renowned for its gardens and a zoo. Castle Howard and Burton Agnes Hall are also just a short drive away. Flamborough Head and RSPB Bempton Cliffs are 15 minutes by car, and boast fantastic opportunities to observe puffins, gannets, dolphins and seals in their natural habitat. Along the coast at Scarborough, you have the Stephen Joseph Theatre which is known for its premieres of almost all of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays. It also boasts the largest open air theatre in Europe. During your stay, why not try some real country pursuits, such as coarse fishing or trying out some of the many bridleways across the estate; you are very close to Fraisthorpe where you can ride along the beach. The beautiful village of Brompton lies 8 miles to the west of Scarborough, a tranquil picturesque village home to the church where the poet William Wordsworth married. A picture postcard village with a small stream running down to a picnic area. Here you can feed the ducks and watch the swans and other wildlife.
The farmer’s hens roam freely around the village which gives that feeling of really being in the countryside and amongst the farming community. The house is in a quiet area next to the church and benefits from a large enclosed garden with woodland areas and lots of space for the children to run and play. There’s a Wendy house and a summer house that serve as a getaway for the kids, with game consoles and a TV. Lawnswood is just two miles from the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, where there are fantastic walks and trails that lead up to the Dalby Forest. The forest is famous for its bike trails and in the past has been home to the World Championship Mountain Bike event. The visitor centre within the forest is popular all year round with its great café and the events that are organised for the children throughout the year. It’s also home to ‘Go Ape’ a high ropes adventure course with zip wires and swings.

Families can head to Hanger 5 Trampoline Park or visit the indoor water park, Blue Lagoon, both within a 40-minute drive. Oakwood, Wales’ largest theme park, boasts Wales’ largest wooden rollercoaster and is sure to keep families entertained whatever the weather.
