Forge Villa is a beautiful property situated in the village of Ebberston, on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park. This area is very popular with cyclists as Dalby Forest can be accessed by the lane that runs to the north of the property. Dalby Forest in the past has hosted the World Cup mountain bike event, so there’s plenty of challenging runs for you to try. For those of you who enjoy a more leisurely trail, there’s miles of woodland paths for both bikers and walkers. The forest attracts international and UK visitors throughout the year, not just for the cycling, but for the many events that are held here, from concerts to educational nature visits for children.

The owner takes great pride in providing a beautiful holiday home, and Forge Villa has been decorated and furnished to a very good standard. The gardens are beautifully kept, with areas for nature to thrive, plus a colourful, wild flower meadow. Chafer Wood backs onto the grounds so you have lots of woodland walks for the dog. Access to the driveway is via a electric gate for added security, however please note parking is at own risk and the owners take no responsibility for loss or damage. There is a pub opposite so perfect for a drink after a busy day exploring the area.

The village of Ebberston is a short drive from the east coast, with Scarborough, Filey and Whitby close by. The popular market towns that Yorkshire is famous for, such as Malton, Pickering and Helmsley, are all within a short driving distance. Pickering is the nearest town, just 10 minutes away, and is home to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Here you can take a wonderful ride on a steam train and travel across the Moors to Whitby. Stop off at Goathland, the fictional village of Aidensfield in the ever popular TV programme ’Heartbeat’. Pickering is also host to the very popular ’1940’s Wartime Weekend’, an event held every year that takes over the whole town and attracts visitors as far away as the USA. Dale View is a Victorian house, built in 1896 and its characterful period features include beamed ceilings and original fireplaces in both reception rooms. The house has a real welcoming home from home feel throughout and has been carefully furnished with your comfort in mind. The open fire in the living room and the gas stove in the dining room provide the perfect place to enjoy atmospheric, comfortable, and cosy evenings, after a busy day exploring the beautiful surroundings. The well-equipped dining kitchen has an authentic country feel, with bespoke kitchen units and hand painted tiles. There is everything you need to create favourite home cooked meals. The rear door leads out from the kitchen into a small, south facing, enclosed patio with table and chairs for alfresco dining.

Upstairs are two bedrooms; one bedroom with King-size bed beneath the beamed vaulted ceiling, and a spacious family bedroom with beamed ceiling, double bed, and a single bed. From both bedrooms Ravenscar cliffs can be seen and glimpses of the sea beyond. There is a bathroom with roll top bath, along with a shower room, perfect for a family or couple holidaying together.

The village of Fylingthorpe is in the heart of the North York Moors National Park and approximately half a mile from Robin Hood’s Bay. There is a local village pub, five minutes’ walk from Dale View serving meals, local beers, and real ales, with large beer garden and play area for children. Opposite the pub is a small village shop for essentials. Days out can include many walking and cycle trails; a particular favourite is along the coastal cinder track to Boggle Hole or Ravenscar. Robin Hood’s Bay is a must and is within walking distance of Dale View, taking less than twenty minutes to walk into the heart of this fascinating village. Famous for its winding, cobbled streets, tiny fisherman’s cottages, old stories of smuggling and secret underground tunnels, and along the Yorkshire Jurassic coast, spectacular scars, rockpools and fossils. Further along the coast is Whitby, known for its magnificent gothic abbey and Dracula. Further north is Sandsend, Staithes, and Runswick Bay. To the south you will find Scarborough, Flamborough Head, and the Dalby Forest. This is a wonderful destination which draws visitors from around the UK to enjoy the incredible scenery and to discover the fascinating history which makes this area so unique.

Set in the hamlet of Starbotton in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this Grade II listed, end of terrace cottage dates back to 1663. As such, it has been sympathetically refurbished and makes a quiet retreat from busy everyday life. It enjoys a south-facing spacious garden with the added benefit of soft fruit beds from which guests are welcome to help themselves in season. To make your stay as comfortable as possible dressing gowns and hairdryers are provided, and for entertainment there are a number of board games and garden games to try out. The cottage is ideally placed for walking, cycling or touring the whole of the Yorkshire Dales. The nearby town of Grassington is 9 miles and in summer plays host to an incredible arts festival where you will find famous singers, presenters, poets and musicians. In winter there is a Dickensian festival, a magical event where the town is transported back in time with shopkeepers, villagers and visitors dressing in Victorian costume. A little further afield lies the bustling market town of Skipton with its Norman castle standing proudly at the head of it wide, sweeping, cobbled high street. Alternatively kick back in the local pub, 200 yards, which serves food and local ales. The nearby village of Kettlewell, approximately 2 miles away boasts three pubs, tea rooms, a village shop and various events during year including The Scarecrow Festival. Located only 200 yards from the beach, you are just a stroll along the seafront from all the bars, restaurants and amenities that this bustling town has to offer. Inside this delightful house you have the living room at the front with a separate open plan kitchen/dining area. The kitchen is modern and perfect for guests who love to create fresh home cooked meals to enjoy together. There are glass doors leading out from the dining area into your enclosed garden, which has a table and chairs ready for sunny evenings of al fresco dining. Plus there is storage for bikes, surf boards and other outdoor equipment. The garden looks out onto a green open space which leads you down towards the beach. Upstairs are three bedrooms, the master double bedroom, a twin bedroom with a zip and link kingsize bed which can be made up as 2ft 6in twin beds on request, and a single bedroom.

Whitby is famous for its links to Dracula, and the Gothic abbey and graveyard tower 199 steps above the town. The climb is worth the effort just to take in the fantastic views of the town and out to sea. Many events and festivals take place all year round such as the Goth Weekender, Folk Week, Whitby Regatta, Steampunk festivals and many music events. There are plenty of traditional pubs to complement the wine bars, as well as many different bistros and restaurants to choose from, not forgetting award-winning fish and chips. There is a 3 mile stretch of golden sand complete with ice cream parlours and arcades to enjoy, and a long pier to walk down.

If you want to get off the beaten track there are many coves and bays dotted along the North Yorkshire and Cleveland Heritage Coast to explore. Hidden gems such as Runswick Bay and Boggle Hole along with the more famous such as Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes are worth a visit. There are many local walks in the area including the Cleveland Way route, and the Cinder Track across the viaduct which heads down to Robin Hood’s Bay.

Head inland into the North York Moors National Park for stunning scenery and fabulous views. Local bus, car, bike or even a journey on a traditional steam train are other ways to get out and see what the area has to offer. The Victorian seaside town of Scarborough is just down the coast with its two huge bays; North Bay for a quiet stroll watching the waves, or South Bay for amusement arcades, a fairground and a harbour. The Open Air Theatre plays host to many international artists throughout the summer months, and Peasholm Park hosts its Model Naval War on a regular basis. There are a number of golf courses, cycling tracks and country or beach walks in the local area. If history is your thing, there are many abbeys and historic places of interest throughout North Yorkshire including the Eden War Museum in Malton. The walled city of York is just an hour’s drive away.

Renovated to an exceptionally high standard in 2021, the cottage has some wonderful original features, in keeping with a barn conversion, including beamed ceilings throughout.

Stepping inside through the stable door you are greeted by a spacious open plan living space, with an authentic country feel throughout. The kitchen is well equipped, ideal for rustling up your favourite meals, perhaps using some of the fresh local ingredients which are grown on-site. There is comfortable seating on the sofas around the wood burner, where you can unwind and relax. Glass doors lead you out into the enclosed private garden, with a table and chairs as well as a barbecue, so that you can make the most of the sunshine. The garden leads down to the neighbouring woodland, attracting wildlife literally onto your doorstep. Back inside, you have a dining room adjoining the kitchen, as well as a ground floor wet room. Up on the first floor you have three bedrooms, the master double bedroom has an en suite shower. There is also a twin bedroom as well as a single, and a family bathroom with a shower over the bath.

This holiday cottage is in a magnificent location for a combined seaside and country holiday. Secluded and tranquil, guests are free to explore the woodland walk and the area is home to a variety of wildlife - including wild deer, owls and hares just to name a few. The property is set on a small traditional organic farm which grows vegetables and organic soft fruit. Guests are welcome to purchase the organic products grown here directly from the friendly owners. The property is environmentally friendly, heated by a unique wood-burning/solar heating system, and many of the practices throughout the farm and property use natural resources for their day-to-day running. An indoor heated swimming pool and hard tennis court shared between other properties, a small gym, as well as a children’s play area complete the facilities on offer.

The beautiful North York Moors are a delight to explore either on foot or by car, or alternatively, the steam railway runs along stunning scenery through many unspoilt villages including Goathland (Aidensfield in the television series ’Heartbeat’). The coast is easily accessible, 45 minutes away, and the popular seaside resorts of Scarborough and Whitby are delights not to be missed. The quaint cobbled streets of Robin Hood’s Bay, once a favourite haunt with smugglers, will keep children and adults entertained for hours with its shoreline full of strange and colourful pebbles. Castle Howard is within easy driving distance, and Flamingo Land (a popular theme park and zoo) is well worth the visit. The market town of Helmsley is just 6 miles away and has shops and inns as well as pretty walled gardens.

Many National Trust and English Heritage properties can be found within a 15-mile radius, including Nunnington Hall, Byland Abbey and Duncomb Park, to name but a few. The ancient city of York is but a 45-minute drive. Excellent walking can be found from the doorstep. The cottage combine country living, yet is close enough to the coast to keep any visitor happy, whatever type of holiday they may be looking for. Lightwater Valley Theme Park, Forbidden Corner (a garden of surprises), the market town of Leyburn, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Gardens, and Ripon with its dominating cathedral, are all within 10 miles. The elegant spa town of Harrogate is 20 miles, famous for Betty’s Tea Room, and the historic, walled city of York with its museums, is 35 miles. "This beautiful, 18th century stone-built cottage offers a comfortable stay in the delightful little village of Bewerley, which is tucked away just outside the picturesque town of Pateley Bridge. This mid-terraced cottage has plenty of character and has kept all its original features with a large fireplace and wood burner, exposed stone and wooden beams throughout, giving you that instant country cottage feel. Oak Cottage offers both couples and families a luxury holiday retreat whilst being ideally located to explore all that the Nidderdale and Yorkshire Dales has to offer.

The property is set over 3 levels, you enter the property into the living area, which is a lovely warm, comfortable space where you can cosy up in front of the wood burner which will keep you warm on the colder evenings. On the same floor you have a dining area and a well presented, well equipped kitchen which has plenty of room for food preparation. From the kitchen you gain access to the rear patio area which is a great place to sit and relax in the sun with a morning coffee and the newspapers. Explore the vast countryside of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which are both packed with rolling hills stretching as far as the eye can see. The area is full of bike trails and fantastic scenic walks, so you will never struggle to find something to keep you entertained. Alternatively, the beautiful cathedral city of Ripon is only 11 miles away along with the spa town of Harrogate 30 minutes by car and the historic city of York only a further 30 minutes. Local attractions include the magnificent Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Park near Ripon, Brimham Rocks near Summerbridge and How Stean Gorge near Lofthouse which are all a must.
