Sneaton boasts a friendly pub, ice cream parlour, charming tea rooms and a warm welcome from the locals. Bridle paths, cycle tracks and walkways abound from the door, with the ancient Monks Pathway being a favourite with walkers visiting this area. Whitby is a fantastic destination for holidaymakers with the steam train departing throughout the summer on its way to Grosmont and Goathland – those famous villages used in the TV series ‘Heartbeat’. Also, Whitby boasts a colourful harbour, 3 miles of sandy beach, the 12th century Abbey ruins and St Marys Church. The town also hosts many festivals throughout the year with folk weekends, 60’s music festivals and Goth weekends, bringing guests from far and wide. Mortar Barn is the ideal place for exploring both the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the Heritage Coast of Yorkshire. Explore both the coast and the countryside from this property, as it is an excellent base for walking and touring. The Yorkshire Wolds, one of Britain’s best kept secrets, runs to the south of the village, and there is miles and miles of long countryside walks. The North Yorkshire Moors and the east coast are just a short drive away, and the seaside resorts of Filey and Scarborough have great beaches for the family for that traditional seaside holiday. Within the hour you can be in the city of York with its abundance of renowned attractions, including the iconic Minster, Castle Museum and the Jorvik Viking Centre. This detached farmhouse is ideal for touring the North Yorkshire coast, from Whitby in the north to Bridlington in the south. A short journey inland takes you to the North York Moors, ’Heartbeat’ Country and Pickering for the steam railway, whilst York for its historic attractions is less than an hour away.

For activities nearby there is Dalby Forest for cycling and tree climbing, Wykeham Lakes for fishing, or the many beaches which offer the chance to just relax, sail, surf, sunbathe, paddle, and build sandcastles. Scarborough is a vibrant seaside resort with lots of family attractions, such as the waterpark, Sealife Centre and crazy golf, as well as a funfair, ice-cream parlours, amusements, and donkey rides. In winter you can cosy up by the two wood burners in either of the sitting rooms, equipped with Smart TVs. There is also an electric double garage available but please request this at the time of booking the key fob can be left for you. There are mountain bikes for guests to enjoy in the end stable but please respect them as if they were your own.
There is something for everyone to enjoy during your stay at Rosary House, with Scarborough only a short 10-minute drive away where you can spend the day at the beach, or check out the impressive views of the coast from Scarborough Castle. You can dine out at one of the many local village pubs in Irton, and the award-winning fish and chip shop which are only a short walk away. If you would like to venture a little further, Whitby is only a 40-minute drive, or you can experience an old-fashioned steam train ride from Pickering to Whitby. Families can enjoy a day out at the Sea Life Centre in Scarborough or Flamingo Land, near Pickering, only 30 minutes away. You can hop on the train to the historical city of York for a day trip and The North York Moors are right on your doorstep for great walking routes. Situated in the popular seaside resort of Scarborough, close to the shops and restaurants and just under a mile from the beach, this terraced townhouse is perfect for a family holiday. The owners have catered for the children with a games room that has lots of games plus a pool table. Mill View House is in a quiet area of the town. From the house you can walk to either bay, north or south, both having long sandy beaches making them ideal for families. The North Bay is the quieter of the two and the South Bay has all that you would expect of a traditional seaside resort with donkeys, amusements and children’s rides. You can walk on the promenade the full length of both bays passing the castle perched up on the hillside. If you prefer to take a ride there’s an open top double decker bus that runs along the seafront.
Scarborough has many attractions with the open air theatre, the Scarborough Spa and the Stephen Joseph Theatre. On your walk down to the beach you pass Peasholm Park with it’s beautiful gardens and large lake, a fabulous place to take the kids, there’s boats and pedalos for them to play on. This is also where they do the famous re-enactment of a naval warfare miniature sea battle. The house is situated less than two minutes walk from the train station where you can go by train to York, a medieval city famous for its Minster. There’s so much to do in Scarborough which is why it’s popular both in the summer and winter months. An ideal spot for that family holiday.
Scarborough is just one of many family resorts down the east coast. Further down the coast and just a short drive away is Filey, Flamborough Head and of course the Victorian resort of Bridlington. There’s some fantastic walks along the cliff tops as this is part of the Cleveland Way so very popular amongst walkers. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton is just a few minutes drive away where you can see puffins, gannets and seals in their natural habitat. This is one of the most visited bird sanctuary in the UK.

You have your own designated parking bays just over the road in a small private car park, with the harbour and beach as well as the town centre with a plethora of independent, shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants all within walking distance. Park your car for your full stay and enjoy the town’s many attractions on foot. At the front of the house are stone steps leading up through the small leafy garden and you enter into the ground floor sitting room; the main living room is upstairs on the first floor where it offers fabulous views over the park and has glass doors opening out onto the balcony. The living room boasts a wood-burning stove, ensuring you have cosy nights after a busy day exploring. The kitchen is open plan with the dining area, and the large table is centre stage, where you can all gather over meals, planning the activities for the days ahead. There is a convenient utility room at the back of the kitchen as well as a toilet. Up on the second floor are two generously sized bedrooms, a double with its own balcony overlooking neighbouring Pannett Park, as well as a king bedroom. The family bathroom has the original free-standing bath with a shower over and there is an additional separate shower room. On the third floor are two further bedrooms - a twin as well as a double, both with dormer windows. Outside is an enclosed tiered rear garden with a picnic table at the top on the decking. The garden is well tended and is full of colour through the warmer months, with a selection of herbs you can use to enhance your home cooking.
You are in the perfect position to enjoy all that Whitby offers. Hop aboard one of the tourist boats for a different view of the town. There is so much to see and do in the area - you may need to plan a return visit!

Driftwood is situated in a peaceful residential area, with a tree-lined green between the picturesque rows of Victorian town houses. Stepping into the house and through the hallway, you are greeted by a large and welcoming open plan living and dining area.
Two steps lead up to glass double doors which lead you out to a beautifully presented courtyard with ample seating. Fairy lights illuminate this area in the evening, creating a delightful space. Back inside on the ground floor there is also a well-equipped kitchen and utility area with a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and everything else you would expect for a comfortable stay. Heading upstairs, there is a toilet on the landing before you reach the incredible master bedroom on the first floor. This generously sized room boasts wall to wall wardrobes, a kingsize bed and a modern spacious en-suite shower room complete with a dressing table.
Further up on the second landing is another contemporary bathroom with a shower over the bath. A few steps lead to the first twin bedroom and a double bedroom. This has a separate office area, ideal for anyone who wishes to use their computer while on holiday. Stairs to the top floor lead to a further twin bedroom under the eaves with Velux windows. There is also a shower room and a games room which is sure to delight younger family members with its game console, toys and games. There are two sofa beds in here, a double and a single, which can be used on request.
Plenty of take-away outlets, restaurants, bars, pubs and shops are within a short stroll of the house, offering a fantastic range of eating options. You can walk to the town centre, the beach, Scarborough Castle or Peasholm Park within ten minutes. A 5-minute walk across North Marine Road provides breath-taking views of the North Bay and Scarborough Castle, with benches where you can rest for a while. You may catch a glimpse of the pods of dolphins that are regular visitors to the coastline.
A meandering path takes you down to the beach in less than 10 minutes. Once on the seafront over three miles of flat promenade provide the perfect opportunity to walk and explore all areas of the Victorian resort. Either head south below the hilltop castle towards the South Bay, Scarborough Spa and the Italian Gardens, or go north past rows of colourful beach huts towards the Sealife Centre and Scalby Mills. Buses operate continually along this route. Peasholm Park offers wooded walks, refreshments and a lake where boats and pedalos can be hired. The gently shelving, wide sandy beaches at Scarborough have won several awards for cleanliness and there are ample opportunities for surfing and paddle-boarding as well as boat trips for all the family.
The resorts of Filey, Flamborough Head and Bridlington are further south, whilst to the north, Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby, Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes are all very popular for day trips.
