Tucked away in a peaceful and secluded village setting, these five comfortably furnished holiday cottages are set in an idyllic location, only 5 miles from the spectacular Bamburgh Castle and one of the longest sandy beaches in England, and within a few minutes’ drive of Seahouses, where regular boat trips depart for the Farne Islands. Between the Cheviots and the sea, there is easy touring through the beautiful countryside with its numerous castles, stately homes and NT properties. Furnished to a high standard, and close to the owners’ home, Fordson offers single-storey accommodation and Ferguson is a detached two-storey cottage. The Mill House stands as a detached converted barn, with Waren View and The Granary Cottage forming an adjoining pair. This is an ideal choice for family holidays, with use of a very pleasant lawned area by a stream. There is also shared use of the owners’ hard tennis court nearby.

Warenford Village serves as an excellent base from which to discover Northumberland and the Scottish border country. Just 4 miles distant lies Budle Bay, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as an SSSI, with the ancient walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (15 miles) and the Duchess of Northumberland’s ornamental gardens a short drive away. Created to rival the best in Europe, the gardens are contemporary in design and include waterfalls and cascading plumes set within landscaped grounds with themed planted areas. Also sure to delight both young and old alike is a visit to neighbouring Alnwick Castle, which served as the location for the Harry Potter films. Home of the Percy family, it stands as the second largest inhabited castle in England after Windsor Castle, with some of its rooms open to the public and displaying a wealth of decorative and fine art.

Within easy reach, too, is Holy Island – renowned for its medieval religious heritage, priory and picturesque castle – and also known by its Anglo-Saxon name of Lindisfarne. Accessed by a paved causeway at low tide, the island is popular with bird-watchers and nature lovers, with the north-western portion of the island being maintained as a nature reserve, where terns, plovers and seals can be observed. Whilst on the island, a trip to The Museum of Island Life will reveal former living and working conditions there, and St Aidan’s Winery tempts visitors with its sweet concoction of local Lindisfarne Mead.
There are quiet country lanes for cycling and several excellent golf courses nearby, as well as a selection of shops in Belford (3 miles) and good inns and restaurants in which to enjoy a family meal locally – the nearest pub with restaurant being just 30 yards.

Driftwood Cottage is idyllically situated only a stone’s throw from the gorgeous sandy beach of Newton-by-the-Sea. With four steps up to the entrance, this semi-detached barn conversion is conveniently all on one level. The open plan living area is a bright and airy space to relax. A pub renowned for serving excellent food is available in the village. Embleton is only a couple of miles south where there are more pubs, a village shop and its own stretch of golden sands. Heading 4 miles north is the popular holiday village of Beadnell where its golden sweeping sands are popular with water sport enthusiasts, offering wind surfing, diving and sea kayaking. The traditional fishing port of Seahouses is a short drive up the coastline, where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands, famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony, depart regularly from its harbour.
Take time to visit the picturesque village of Bamburgh where its dramatic castle is an impressive visitor attraction. A few miles inland is the historic market town of Alnwick where its own castle is the home to the Duke of Northumberland. Situated a stone’s throw from the Amble harbour; known locally as ’the friendliest port’, this delightful abode provides deceptively spacious holiday accommodation which has been designed and finished to a high standard. Start you adventure from Amble; a delightful, friendly, seaside town which has a selection of pubs and restaurants for that fine dining experience, as well as several independent shops and supermarkets for picking up any last-minute essentials. The quayside in Amble has a Sunday weekly market and is home to the Harbour Village where small independent shopping pods sell a range of arts, crafts, accessories, food, and drink. Head to the RPSB reserve of Coquet Island to discover puffins, terns and eider ducks, and take a boat ride around the island to see it from a unique perspective, while wildlife lovers will also relish the chance to explore the Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre and birdwatching opportunities are prominent at Druridge Bay. 6 miles North brings you to the quaint town of Alnmouth, a popular coastal village known for its excellent 18-hole golf course and its charming cycle routes. Stop off at one of the blissful beer gardens and soak in the glorious scenery. Wayside is within a short stroll from the high street, harbour and all of the pubs and restaurants in the small, friendly, fishing town of Amble. Upon arrival you will find complimentary coffee (coffee machine), biscuits and fresh milk. This lovely, terraced house is perfect for relaxing after a day out exploring the area. Start your adventure in Amble, a seaside town resting on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which includes the Heritage Coast and some of the most unspoilt beaches in England. Known as the friendliest port, a warm welcome awaits- simply park your car and enjoy everything from the doorstep within a short stroll. Wander down to the harbour and see the fishing boats at work, stroll along to the marina and little beach, where you will find some pretty beach huts that you can rent from the harbour master. Around the harbour’s edge are some great fish restaurants and a varied selection of eateries, coffee shops and ice cream shop within the town. The historic village of Warkworth is only 2 miles away, which is a lovely walk. A popular place to visit, with its fabulous castle dominating the skyline, a selection of good pubs, bespoke shops and galleries and pretty riverside walks. The beach is nearby and a fabulous place to go and walk. The market town of Alnwick, with its cobbled streets and famous castle, is a 15-minute drive away. The beautiful Alnwick Gardens are worth a visit, where you will find the world’s largest treehouse restaurant, beautiful displays and cascading waterfall. Explore further north on the Heritage Coast and you will come to the seaside village of Seahouses with its beautiful beach and selection of pubs, shops and fish restaurants. You can take a boat trip from here to the Farne islands and Holy Island. Just a short distance from here is the picture postcard village of Bamburgh with tea shops and restaurants, a magnificent castle and amazing beach walks.

Dinmont Cottage is a perfect place to stay with family or friends on a quiet spot in Shilbottle, located in between Alnwick and Alnmouth less than 4 miles away. With a lovely homely ambience throughout, the open plan kitchen/dining area is perfect for sharing stories and planning your trips in this social space.
Shilbottle has walks from the village with a great pub and award winning café around 300 yards. There is a good convenience store, pharmacy and a highly acclaimed Indian restaurant/takeaway only a short walk. Alnwick only a few minutes’ drive and is home to the famous castle used in Harry Potter where you can book broomstick lessons, and also home to the magnificent Water gardens where you can book a table at the fabulous Tree House restaurant, the largest in Europe.
Explore the cobbled streets with independent shops and bijoux cafés with something for all ages. Golf lovers will delight in the two courses close by; one being a fine 9-hole course adjacent to the beach and the other being a challenging 18-hole course at Foxton, enjoying panoramic views. Amble and Warkworth are nearby; Amble has a popular Sunday morning market where you can mix with the locals then browse in the little shopping pods on the harbour, perhaps have fish and chips or visit one of the little eating places on the harbour, or enjoy a boat trip round Coquet Island bird sanctuary. Warkworth Castle sits at the top of the hill, a pretty picture postcard village with nice cafés, friendly pubs and riverside walk.

Bus routes to Alnwick and Newcastle are available nearby and the Sustrans Cycle Route is easily joined from the property.
