The Granary is a one bedroom, ‘upside-down house’ located at West Moneylaws just outside Cornhill-on-Tweed on the English side of Border Country. With quiet countryside surrounding you, yet just minutes from Berwick, this is the ideal place to go to get away from it all, or use as a base to explore the attractions and sites of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.
The front door is right the front of the property, given this is an ‘upside down house’ this door makes the loading and unloading of luggage straight into the bedroom as easy as possible. The double bedroom enjoys a kingsize bed and the bathroom with a luxury style suite and larger shower is located off the bedroom. In addition to the bedroom entrance there is a more formal entry to the side. The main living space can also be accessed from the side of the building by stairs. The open plan space has a wood burner and yet has a real contemporary feel about it. The kitchen has everything you’ll need to prepare and enjoy meals before or after your Northumberland adventures. There is a private patio which is perfect for summer nights and the surrounding area is ideal for walks. Why not arrange to take the owners alpacas for a trek round the grounds? One of the real bonus features of this property is the location. With Berwick nearby you may be surprised that you can be in either Edinburgh or Newcastle for a day in the city in just over an hour by car. The beaches in Berwick and the gorgeous long stretch of blonde sand at Goswick are recommended for walks as is Holy Island and nearby Bamburgh, just remember to check the tide times and don’t get caught out at the causeway on Holy Island!

Tile Sheds is a detached cottage situated on a 300 acre mixed working farm. The accommodation benefits from being all on ground floor level and is deceptively spacious throughout. The living room boasts a superb wood burner to snuggle in front of after a day exploring the miles of stunning vistas Northumberland is renowned for. The farmhouse kitchen has an American style fridge/freezer, newly fitted units and although there is the added convenience a modern electric oven and hob, there is also a large AGA to create a homely ambience. Three large double bedrooms and a contemporary bathroom complete the picture.

Located close to Northumberland’s dramatic coastline, Curlew Cottage is a pretty mid-terraced house on a working farm, with comfortable accommodation for up to five guests. A gravelled terrace and garden area offer endearing rural views, whilst the front of the house looks out over hills towards the open sea. Furnished to a good standard, Curlew Cottage is also conveniently located for walking, bird-watching, cycling and historic pilgrimages. The characterful village of Belford is nearby boasting all necessary amenities, whilst only a few miles away are the sandy beaches of Budle Bay and Bamburgh.


This stretch of the Northumberland coast is dotted with harbour villages and castle ruins. The most famous of the nearby landmarks is the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, which draws visitors from around the world. Further north, the historic town of Berwick-Upon-Tweed is known as ‘the last town in England’ because of its strategic border position. Alnwick is a short journey southward, famed for its castle and its rich heritage. More recently, the castle has become a must-visit for Potter fans, as it was used as the setting of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films. Beach 4½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Kennel Cottage is a relaxing, tranquil retreat perfect for recharging your batteries for a special holiday or a much-deserved short break. With a small stream running through the garden the wildlife is abundant, Roe deer graze in the fields nearby, badgers and foxes are often spotted, and a small population of otters now reside in the area. The endangered red squirrel is seen here, often in the garden. Many rare bird species are regularly seen with the surrounding countryside home to ravens, peregrine falcons, buzzards and other birds of prey.
There is also a combination of cycle and dog routes directly from the property for those with bikes and furry friends.
Life at Kennel Cottage is relaxed, with sheep grazing in the surrounding fields yet the cottage is only 2 miles from Harbottle with a popular, dog friendly village pub selling great food with a small shop on site. The sunroom is ideal to sit and watch the wildlife in the garden. With comfy sofas in the living room and plenty of space inside the cottage, it is a perfect place to stay.
Set on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, famous for the Dark Sky’s, the largest dark sky park in Europe it is also a great place for star gazing and photography. Just over half an hour from Rothbury with some nice shops and cafes, pubs and restaurants, with Cragside House a popular tourist attraction situated in Rothbury. The Scottish Border can be reached in 30 miles where you can tour and discover some of the historic sites. Alnwick is around 20 miles with its majestic castle, cobbled streets, and the exquisite Duchess enchanting water gardens. This is a Victorian workers cottage with many original features and was built for the farm workers of the Cragside Estate. This is a dog friendly property where two dogs are welcome, although they need to be kept on a lead due being on a working farm, there is an enclosed area where they can be let off and have a good run.
Staying at this cottage is to experience the history first-hand of the Cragside Estate’s Model Farm. Brimming with character on the edge of the National Park, East Cottage is in an ideal location for exploring the many visitor attractions throughout this glorious county. Only two miles from the pretty market town of Rothbury with its own private stretch of salmon and trout fishing (by arrangement and seasonal), East Cottage is set on a small historical site featuring the only agricultural weigh bridge left in the UK today and a Grade II* listed building of Agricultural Importance. The site is linked to the Cragside, Rothbury and Coquetdale Area. The property was built by Lord Armstrong of Cragside in the 1880s as part of his Cragside Estate to show off his model farm.
