The Lodge on the Beach is a two bedroomed log cabin set in probably one of the most stunning and truly unique locations in South West Scotland. Nestled on the shores of Auchenmalg Bay on an eight acre plot and just yards from your door is the family friendly beach. With its magical location, The Lodge on the Beach offers you a wonderful relaxing escape for all the family. With the views, the beautiful sunrises, the sublime sunsets over the Mull of Galloway, the walks, and sound of the waves just yards away, you will be blown away by the scenery and the location.
The Lodge on the Beach is ideally placed to explore the wider and unspoilt area of South West Scotland if you can drag yourself away. A very short stroll along the beach takes you to a delightful country pub and restaurant if you don’t want to cook after your day out exploring. A few minutes away by car is Glenluce, where there is a local shop selling essentials and 20 minutes away Stranraer offers a greater range of shops including Supermarkets. This area of Dumfries and Galloway boasts rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches as well as inland forests and hills making walking a delight and for the cyclists the world famous 7Stanes mountain biking trails are close by at Kirroughtree. The Lodge on the Beach is an ideal base for a Golfing Holiday. With Wigtownshire County Club less than ten minutes from the Lodge, and South West Scotland boasts twenty three Golf courses. The icing on the cake is that just over an hour away there is Turnberry.
Along the coast is the lovely little village of Port William, known as the “Machars of Galloway” and of course you must go and find “The Man” and get a photograph with him. As well as Port William, you can also explore quaint villages such as Sandhead, Portpatrick and the Isle of Whithorn. A must is a visit to Wigtown, which is famous for being Scotland’s National Book Town, a book lovers haven. The Mull of Galloway, Scotland’s most southerly point and home to the RSPB nature reserve, where thousands of seabird’s nests on the cliff face during spring and summer is definitely worth a visit. Situated on a working farm, Middle Byre originally housed the cattle on the farm and has been delightfully converted into a comfortable and spacious holiday property perfect for families. The property is nestled in the Girthon Valley and is surrounded by some of the best scenery in Galloway, with great walks, both woodland and coastal. Galloway has 200 miles of beautiful coastline, wild mountains and moorland, pretty towns and charming villages. The area also offers a wide range of activities for the whole family to enjoy, be it visiting the local ice cream factory, Cream O’ Galloway at Sandgreen, CocoaBean Chocolate Factory at Twynholm or why not visit Laggan Outdoors, which has one of the longest zip wires in Europe. There are many exciting and beautiful cycle paths straight from your door or try the world famous 7Stanes challenge. There is an abundance of local lochs and rivers if fishing is preferred! There is something for everyone in this beautiful unspoilt corner of Scotland. The cottage is only a few minutes drive from the charming town of Gatehouse of Fleet which offers a wide range of places to eat and relax. Peacefully set with panoramic views over countryside to the Nith Estuary, these detached, single-storey holiday cottages have their own garden and have been furnished and equipped to the STB’s ‘4 Star’ standard. Conheath Gatelodge is a traditional Georgian cottage with many original features, whilst Martha’s Shore Cottage was an original fisherman’s cottage dating back to 1700 - generations of Martha’s artistic family lived here and her father was the stone mason for the farm estate, and cut stone for the owner’s farmhouse. There are lovely riverside walks from the door with abundant birds and wildlife to spot. There are many quiet roads ideal for cycling, and excellent wildfowl salt-marshes surrounding Caerlaverock Castle, 3 miles away. Solway Firth is easily accessible. Dumfries, 3 miles, has good shopping, restaurants, cinema and sports facilities. Sandy beaches, quaint fishing villages, castles and nature reserves within easy reach. Bengairn is a delightful lodge situated in a small select group of 10 similar properties, with open views over Colvend Golf Course, the local hills, and the Solway Firth, with the Lake District in the distance. It is beautifully presented, cosy, and inviting. The scenery is stunning, so why not take advantage of this from your very own balcony? You will probably be disturbed only by a glimpse of the odd badger, deer, or red squirrel! If you are feeling a little more energetic then stroll through the golf course to the beautiful Sandyhills Beach which is under 1 mile away. Your dogs are very welcome to this lovely lodge and we are certain they too will enjoy the walk to the beach!

Bengairn is easily accessible to everything this lovely corner of Dumfries and Galloway has to offer from the picturesque little villages of Sandyhills, Kippford, and Rockcliffe, where you can discover some of the 200 miles of stunning and dramatic coastline with secluded little bays and sandy beaches. Visit the many historical sites in the area such as Threave Castle, described as the most romantic place in Galloway, and to reach it, ring the bell at the jetty and the custodian ferries you by rowing boat over to the island! This area is also home to supreme mountain biking, challenging hill walks, and without a doubt some of the darkest skies in the world.

Visit the local towns of Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas, and Kirkcudbright with their variety of niche shops, art galleries, and excellent restaurants. Castle Douglas, the ‘Food Town’, has around fifty local businesses either selling or producing food. A visit to Kirkcudbright during their summer festivities is not to be missed with events such as the colourful Jazz Festival, the Riding of the Marches, and the spectacular Tattoo.

This delightfully situated, detached, holiday cottage has been renovated to a very good standard and is located within the national scenic area. It stands within a secluded garden and enjoy a delightful patio area within the walled area of the garden. The cottage, which is near Caerlaverock Castle, adjoins the famous Caerlaverock National Nature Reserve and is only ¼ mile from the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust and, just down the road is the Caerlaverock National Nature Reserve made famous by BBC’s ‘Autumnwatch’. The county town of Dumfries is a short drive away providing a wide range of shops and places of interest. It makes an ideal base for exploring this wonderful area either by car, cycle or on foot and the Mabie Forest mountain bike tracks are close by, whilst the scenic Caerlaverock Estate has a network of paths to enjoy on the doorstep. Close to excellent salmon fishing on the River Nith and wildfowling on the National Nature Reserve. There are several excellent golf courses in the area including the championship course at Southerness. There are wonderful views over the Solway Coast towards the Lake District. The garden is well stocked having roses, shrubs and mature trees. Visit one of the three tearooms within 5 miles.

A delightful semi-detached holiday cottage in an idyllic location with magnificent sea views to the Isle of Man and the Galloway Hills. Situated ¾ mile up a private good road, on the edge of the owner’s 50 acres of private woodland, with paths leading to a secluded sandy, pebbly beach and rocks for sea fishing - 10 minute walk. Two mile bluebell walk in May. Galloway House gardens, 2 miles, one shop at garage, bowling green, two tennis courts, harbour and nearest pub 1¼ mile.

Gilnockie is a stunning architect designed lodge, set in a peaceful location in the beautiful and popular coastal village of Kippford. The property is set above the village providing lovely views of the estuary. The living area is particularly attractive with large picture windows to the front, impressive high vaulted ceiling and a lovely wood burner, perfect for those chillier nights. The patio doors in the dining room lead out to a covered terrace. The master bedroom on the ground floor also boasts a covered terrace where you can enjoy your early morning cup of tea, it’s the perfect way to start your day.
Kippford is a pretty little village on the Solway Coast. A short stroll from the property takes you into the centre of the village with two excellent pubs/restaurants, a tea room and a small shop selling local gifts. Take a walk along the sea front and over the Jubilee Path to Rockcliffe, another pretty little village just around the coast. Sailing is at the hub of life in the village and each August culminates with Kippford Week, a week of racing and excitement on the estuary for all ages.
Further afield this beautiful corner of Dumfries and Galloway has much to offer. Try your hand at the 7 Stanes mountain biking courses at Dalbeattie Forest, the zip wire and mountain balling at Laggan. Enjoy the many historic castles, National Trust gardens and the RSPB sites in the region. For the younger guests there are ice cream farms and even a chocolate factory where you can make your own chocolate, so there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy. Beach 4 miles. Only a stroll from the beautiful sandy beach at Sandhead, stretching for 7 miles, the village also has a restaurant, pub and shop. The surrounding area boasts rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches, with challenging walks in the uplands of the Galloway Hills to gentle seaside trails, as well as rolling moors and dramatic cliff-top walks. Well worth a visit is The Mull of Galloway, with its grass topped visitor centre - Scotland’s most southerly point, with amazing views of Ireland, England, the Isle of Man and Scotland! Lucky visitors may spot seals and minke whales and will most certainly see a host of seabirds. Portpatrick is a short drive and the village lies at the start of the Southern Upland Way; one of Scotland’s most acclaimed long distance footpaths.
The bustling town of Stranraer, situated at the head of Loch Ryan, is the gateway to the Rhinns of Galloway. The town’s main attraction is the Castle of St. John, a ruined four-story tower house built around 1500, which sits on a green in the main street. There are several eye-catching artworks in the area surrounding the castle. Stranraer Museum can be found in the old town hall. Close by are Castle Kennedy Gardens, with the castle, two lochs, a giant lily pond and an avenue of monkey puzzle trees. Logan Botanic Garden sits 13 miles south of the town and is home to exotic ferns and palms and boasts a beautiful walled garden. Why not take the high speed ferry to Ireland for a spot of sightseeing or a shopping trip to Belfast perhaps? Within easy reach is The Galloway Forest Park, which has been awarded status as a ’Dark Sky Park’, with plentiful walking opportunities and wildlife to spot. Beach 1 mile. Greentops is a delightful bungalow set in a small hamlet amidst the rolling hills of Dumfries and Galloway. Greentops has been upgraded and modernised throughout in 2021 and is beautifully presented with a new modern kitchen/dining area where you get the most lovely views of the countryside, just the perfect spot to sit and enjoy breakfast! Whilst you can sit back and relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Greentops, you are perfectly placed to enjoy the wonders of this beautiful region.
A must is a trip to the stunning Drumlanrig Castle where you can enjoy a tour of the Castle itself or just explore the miles of beautiful walks and gardens. Should you wish to have a bagpiper play for you, this can be arranged for £50 for one hour.
For the adventurous, try one of the championship mountain biking trails, or just relax with a day’s fishing on the river. There are numerous activities for kids, from the adventure playground to ranger-led wildlife walks. Further afield in this stunning corner of Dumfries and Galloway, there are attractions in abundance, from beautiful sandy beaches to dramatic cliff tops along the majestic Solway Coast. With sailing, swimming, horse riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports close by, there is something for everyone.

Dinduff Lodge is situated on the north west coast of the beautiful Rhins of Galloway Peninsula, just 3 miles from Stranraer. This stunning detached property (where the owner lives on-site) enjoys a blissful hot tub and panoramic views over the rolling countryside and across Loch Ryan Bay. Dinduff Lodge, built in 2020, is perfect from the moment you walk through the door. The open plan living/dining room has floor to ceiling windows, making the most of the views over Loch Ryan Bay and offers the perfect spot to sit and relax. The modern high spec kitchen, which opens onto the living/dining room, has everything you need if you prefer to eat in. All in all, Dinduff House really is a sociable holiday home complemented by the workmanship of the house and the views! Just perfect.
Dinduff Lodge is the perfect location to explore the area. Visit Dally Bay where seals and porpoises can be spotted. Walk down to the sea to the shore on Loch Ryan and around Wig Bay and The Scar, a circular walk along the loch’s shoreline and back into the village of Kirkcolm. The Scar is a sandbank which juts out into Loch Ryan, and home to one of the largest colonies of nesting migrant terns in the region. From a historical perspective, during the Second World War, Wig Bay was used as a base for the flying Catalina boats, evidence can be seen of this on a walk along the bay.
The Galloway coastline offers an abundance of sandy beaches and rocky coves to explore. Walking, golf, sea and freshwater fishing, pony trekking, watersports and cycling are all available nearby.
