For many years, the farm operated as an 80-acre pig farm, but in 1999, a 10-acre section was sold off and the new owners completely transformed it. The farmhouse remained, but many of the sheds were taken down to leave just a small section, which was turned into stables. When the current owners took over in 2009, the barn itself was initially used as a machinery store and then a lambing shed, the barn has now been converted into a holiday home with a private hot tub, where guests can relax in the evening with a glass of wine in hand.

There are regular events throughout the year including the Crieff Highland Games and the autumn Drovers Walking Festival.
This area provides outdoor activities for all levels of skill. If you prefer more strenuous activities, then mountains such as Ben Vorlich, Ben Chonzie and Ben Lawers provide some excellent walking, with water sports available on Loch Earn, as well as mountain biking. For a less energetic day there are beautiful riverside walks along the banks of the River Earn and Turret. Those interested in golf can enjoy a range of courses in the surrounding area.
This area is steeped in history with tales of the outlaws and the Jacobite rebellion, an historic castle and monuments to visit in the area. Set in a great central location with very easy access to the whole of central Scotland, Maryland Cottage has been lovingly furnished and decorated to ensure a very comfortable and relaxing break. Ideally suited to either two couples or a small family, the unusual layout features a long living space at the front of the cottage, overlooking the garden and hills beyond. This is a lovely sunny room, with wooden floor and space for dining. Outside, the large, enclosed wrap-around gardens surround the cottage and feature sitting-out areas designed to make the most of the sunshine.

The cottage is just a couple of miles from Bridge of Earn, with a good selection of shops and eateries and with great access links to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee. The city of Perth is just a 5 mile drive away and has a wealth of tourist and cultural attractions. The cottage is on the border between Perthshire and Fife where golfers are spoilt for choice with Kings Barns and Carnoustie easily reached, and half way between St. Andrews and Glen Eagles. But if golf is not your thing, the pretty East Neuk is full of quaint fishing villages - a perfect place for a day out by the sea. Beach 25 miles.
