The property is nestled in the Girthon Valley and is surrounded by some of the best scenery in Galloway, with great walks, both woodland and coastal. Galloway has 200 miles of beautiful coastline, wild mountains and moorland, pretty towns and charming villages. The area also offers a wide range of activities for the whole family to enjoy, be it visiting the local ice cream factory, Cream O’ Galloway at Sandgreen, CocoaBean Chocolate Factory at Twynholm or why not visit Laggan Outdoors, which has one of the longest zip wires in Europe. There are many exciting and beautiful cycle paths straight from your door or try the world famous 7Stanes challenge. There is an abundance of local lochs and rivers if fishing is preferred! There is something for everyone in this beautiful unspoilt corner of Scotland. The cottage is only a few minutes drive from the charming town of Gatehouse of Fleet which offers a wide range of places to eat and relax. Situated on a working cattle farm, this pair of detached cottages are in the ideal location to explore Dumfries and Galloway, from the Galloway Hills and the Galloway Forest Dark Skies Park, with many hidden lochs, burns and waterfalls, to the beautiful coastline with sandy beaches, rocky coves and picturesque villages. You may even be lucky and spot seals and minke whales, and will most certainly see a host of seabirds.

The area is steeped in history and the landscape diverse, a haven for artists, birdwatchers and walkers. The Mull of Galloway, with its lighthouse and grass topped visitor centre, is Scotland’s most southerly point with amazing views of Ireland, England, the Isle of Man and Scotland! Wigtown Bay Local Nature Reserve is the largest local reserve in the UK. It has internationally recognised, significant numbers of pink-footed geese, greylag geese, many species of duck and wading birds, visiting in autumn and winter.

Dinduff Lodge is situated on the north west coast of the beautiful Rhins of Galloway Peninsula, just 3 miles from Stranraer. This stunning detached property (where the owner lives on-site) enjoys a blissful hot tub and panoramic views over the rolling countryside and across Loch Ryan Bay. Dinduff Lodge, built in 2020, is perfect from the moment you walk through the door. The open plan living/dining room has floor to ceiling windows, making the most of the views over Loch Ryan Bay and offers the perfect spot to sit and relax. The modern high spec kitchen, which opens onto the living/dining room, has everything you need if you prefer to eat in. All in all, Dinduff House really is a sociable holiday home complemented by the workmanship of the house and the views! Just perfect.
Dinduff Lodge is the perfect location to explore the area. Visit Dally Bay where seals and porpoises can be spotted. Walk down to the sea to the shore on Loch Ryan and around Wig Bay and The Scar, a circular walk along the loch’s shoreline and back into the village of Kirkcolm. The Scar is a sandbank which juts out into Loch Ryan, and home to one of the largest colonies of nesting migrant terns in the region. From a historical perspective, during the Second World War, Wig Bay was used as a base for the flying Catalina boats, evidence can be seen of this on a walk along the bay.
The Galloway coastline offers an abundance of sandy beaches and rocky coves to explore. Walking, golf, sea and freshwater fishing, pony trekking, watersports and cycling are all available nearby. Curlew Cottage is situated in a lovely rural area with amazing views from the wood fuel hot tub towards the Moffat Hills. Renovated completely in 2021, Curlew Cottage offers the perfect holiday cottage for you to get away from it all and relax. It is delightfully decorated throughout, and a particular feature of the cottage is the large living room with low windows making the most of the views. There is a small snug with cosy open fire perfect for those chillier evenings. With a large kitchen/diner, three bedrooms and two bathrooms, Curlew Cottage will suit families or groups of friends to meet and enjoy. There is outside to enjoy too with its spacious garden and perhaps in an evening you can sit on the patio and marvel at the starry night skies.

Amazing local towns nearby such as Lockerbie, Moffat and Thornhill. Situated just a few miles from the market town of Lockerbie, which provides all local amenities including some lovely little shops and restaurants. Lockerbie has a train station if you fancy a day trip to Edinburgh or Glasgow. However, Dumfries and Galloway is so beautiful there is plenty to keep you entertained during your stay at Curlew Cottage. The area boasts rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches with many beautiful gardens to explore. They stand 30 yards apart and are separated by a fence with an access gate. Both enjoy a sea view to the south and views of Criffel and the Galloway Hills to the north, and are ideal for family and friends to relax and unwind in. If cycling is more your thing than horseback, here at Stable Lodge you are close to the 7Stanes mountain biking trails at Kirroughtree and Dalbeattie Forests; Kirroughtree has some of the best technical single-track mountain bike trails in Scotland. A must is a wander around the pretty little town of Kirkcudbright only a short drive away. With its busy harbour, you can watch the fishing boats return with their catch or visit the famous Broughton House, once the home of E. A. Hornel, or experience the Arts and Crafts Trail.
A must for children and adults alike is a visit to the Dark Sky Planetarium a state-of-the-art interactive science and space-themed experience for everyone or you just may prefer the Dark Art Gin Distillery next door! Throughout the year the town hosts a diverse range of annual events from farmers’ markets, a country fair, a jazz festival, a festival of light, the riding of the marches and, of course, the spectacular tattoo, an event not to be missed. Terraughtie Cottage West is a delightful semi-detached cottage set along an unclassified road, on the outskirts of Dumfries. Offering a lovely countryside location yet close enough for a pleasant walk or cycle into town, around the local countryside or on the nearby cycle pathways.
The cottage has been completely renovated and modernised throughout in 2023 and offers the perfect home from home. The open plan living is perfect whether you are cooking, dining or just relaxing in front of the cosy wood burner. Beautifully decorated throughout, the comfort continues in the modern and sleek bathroom, and the bedrooms with wonderfully sumptuous beds and linen. Only a couple of minutes’ walk from Terraughtie Cottage West is Kilnford Kitchen and farm shop. If fishing is your passion, you can walk/cycle easily to Auldernauk Fishery from the property, a most attractive and well stocked three acre fly-only loch holding good sized rainbow, blue, brown and tiger trout; it is a quiet and friendly family-owned fishery run by anglers. If you can tear yourself away for a day sightseeing, the area is renowned for its rugged beauty, from beautiful sandy beaches, cliff top walks and forest trails. The world renowned 7Stanes mountain biking routes are also within easy reach. The area is well recognised for its clear skies as one of the 12 best stargazing sites in the world, with the Galloway Forest Park being the first Dark Sky Park in the UK.
