There are plenty of walks close by in the Shropshire Hills which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Whether you crave activity, history, culture or shopping, nearby towns have plenty to offer all tastes and ages. Oswestry and Shrewsbury are set very close by and both offer an array of bars, shops and restaurants. After a day exploring the Shropshire countryside guests can relax in the extensive grounds surrounding the property. There is private seating in the garden on the patio outside the garden room or on the patio area to the rear of the property, or why not relax in the private hot tub overlooking the surrounding farmland.
On the ground floor the property has a living room, snug, well-equipped kitchen/breakfast room and dining room/garden room. There is also a games room with pool table and a selection of games, just off the games room is a shower room. Shropshire’s finest and most attractive town Ludlow is within easy reach, framed by the gentle Clee Hills, with its impressive castle, magnificent church, half-timbered buildings and Georgian red-brick houses and different markets five days a week such as general, farmers, craft, or antique.
Bridgnorth has what is reputed to be the steepest cliff railway in Britain and superb cliff-top walks overlooking the River Severn below. From here, during summer, the Severn Valley Railway’s steam train chugs the scenic 16-mile route to Kidderminster.
Attingham Park (National Trust), Benthall Hall (National Trust), Ironbridge Gorge and the old market town of Much Wenlock, with its medieval priory, are all within easy driving distance. The Barn at Whitefields is situated on the national cycle route 81, between Aberystwyth and Wolverhampton, which will also appeal to cyclists. Visit the city of Telford with it’s fabulous shopping centre, parks and world-famous Iron Bridge and Gorge museums.

Set in the pretty village of Llangunllo, The Old Smithy is an attractive 4 bed cottage with a homely wood burning stove. A hot tub also awaits you, with views of the rolling hills of Radnorshire. The location is perfect for walkers as you can find lovely walks right from the front door, including Glyndwr’s Way. The games room is accessed from the roadside. There is private parking for 2 cars across the road from the house. There is a welcoming, traditional local pub within the village that serves a good selection of beer and ale. Other pubs, serving food are found in the surrounding villages, no more than 15 minutes away. Local activities include the well recognised Griffin Lloyd clay shooting ground and Phil Price Rally School. Llangunllo is 6 miles from the market town of Knighton ,best known for Offa’s Dyke and 9miles from Presteigne. There are many attractions including The Judges Lodgings, Spaceguard Centre, Small Breeds Farm, Elan Valley Reservoir, Red Kite Feeding Station and Powis Castle. The market towns of Hereford and Ludlow and Hay on Wye are all in between 45/60 minutes away and all offer a variety of attractions.

The Coach House is situated just outside the village of Baschurch which is near Shrewsbury and Ellesmere. Baschurch offers pubs, takeaways, churches, a large convenience store, and a cash point. The local bus, which operates between Shrewsbury and Ellesmere, collects and drops off on Springfield Barn main drive allowing guests to leave the car behind.
Shropshire is a gem of a county with so much to explore within easy reach, and is home to Ironbridge World Heritage Site and numerous National Trust sites including Attingham Park. Shrewsbury town offers fantastic fresh dining, individual shops, craft markets, museums, art galleries, and the stunning Dingle set within the Quarry Park.
