Head into the rural hamlet of Croesau Bach in Shropshire to Pentregaer Issa. Located less than 4 miles from the lovely market town of Oswestry, Pentregaer Issa was built in 1823 but has now been renovated to become a beautiful getaway for couples or small groups of friends. After coming up the private driveway, guests can enjoy the living room with its comfy sofas, TV and electric fire. The well-stocked and homely kitchen offers a selection of essentials to get started with some cooking, as well as an Aga in the colder months to enjoy. You are also greeted with a lovely welcome with milk, eggs, butter, tea and coffee from the farm. There are two sumptuous bedrooms, one with kingsize bed and the other with a double bed, as well as a large stylish bathroom with a clawfoot bath and shower attachment.
There is no Wi-Fi at the property, so you can fully unwind and switch off from the world. For those wanting to dine alfresco in the summer sunshine, there’s garden furniture and a barbecue out in the garden, meaning there are opportunities to relax whatever the weather. A short walk behind the cottage, over the owner’s land, is the best kept secret of all, and the real wow factor about this property - the private lake, resting in 10-acres of land and offering utter peace to unwind. The owners have placed a picnic table there to fully make use of in the warmer weather.
The owners’ property is adjoined to the cottage, but will respect the privacy of guests and are on hand for help, advice and to do any essential washing of clothes at the farmhouse. Guests are free to roam around the 10 acres of the farm and explore the grasslands, meadows, woodland and the lake, complete with wonderful wildlife and rare species of flowers.
For those who want to venture a little further there is so much on offer within a 20-mile radius. Find traditional pubs and local shops in the nearby hamlets and villages, or spend a day shopping in Oswestry or Shrewsbury, both beautiful towns with historic buildings and plenty of places to grab a bite to eat or a drink. Explore the wider region and travel across to Wales for Snowdonia National Park, the North Wales coastline, and beautiful Lake Vyrnwy and Bala.

The Old Barn is a charming cottage located close to a peaceful village just outside of Church Stretton and is the perfect getaway for those who love walking, tranquillity, and nature. The cottage comfortably sleeps two and features an inviting open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area, creating the perfect open social space for you and your loved ones. The owners welcome dogs and provide an outdoor heated showering area ready for washing down your mucky pup after accompanying them on one of the many walking routes close by. Dog towels can be provided for a small fee. The garden space boasts picturesque field views, and outside the cottage a delightful patio area with a table and chairs.
For those who enjoy fishing, there are two fishing pools with carp and tench. Please note that there’s an additional cost for fishing, payable to the owners during your stay, but you are welcome to walk round and even picnic beside the pools. Please be aware the pools are deep and unfenced. There are excellent bird watching opportunities in the garden, the surrounding woodland area or when walking in the Shropshire hills with footpaths from the property. The local area is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, with mountain biking and an abundance of hiking trails waiting to be explored. Carding Mill Valley and the Longmynd is a must-see. Discover South Shropshire and all the surrounding attractive market towns, along with the National Trust properties and attractions such as the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, Ludlow Castle, Much Wenlock Priory, Shrewsbury town, Cosford Air Museum, Acton Scott Working Farm Museum (re-opening 2024) and there are plenty of country pubs that serve great food. Down the road is a 18 hole golf course, there are walking trails galore. Lyth Hill is a 14 mile circular route, that runs directly through Arscott and is a delight for all walking enthusiasts.

The Wenlock Edge links Much Wenlock with Church Stretton, the only market town in this AONB.
