Isla’s Cottage is a cosy 18th-century Welsh cottage situated in the quaint village of Ystradgynlais, Swansea Valley. It’s central location is ideal for visiting the Gower Peninsula with its award winning beaches, the Brecon Beacons National Park and other local attractions. Ideal for couples and families. The cottage is a short walk from the village centre where there are numerous cafés, bars, restaurants and lovely shops. The cottage has a multi-fuel burner, perfect for a cosy night in after a day of walking/activities. Other facilities include an enclosed garden with patio area, perfect for your canine companions.
The cottage is full of character, and downstairs you will find a bathroom with shower over P-shaped bath, a good sized kitchen with gas hob, electric oven and washing machine. The kitchen leads to an enclosed garden with seating and a bike store, and upstairs there is one double and one single bedroom.
There is lots to do in this area, and with being centrally based, you can be on the beach in 40 minutes or in the mountains in 30 minutes. There are lots of walks to be found near the property, great for taking your four-legged friends. Horse riding is available a short drive from the property, and the award winning Dan yr Ogof show caves is great day out for adults and kids alike. The town of Ystradgynlais is a short walk from the property, where an abundance of restaurants, shops and pubs can be found. Shop ½ mile. Pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Avon Lodge at Daisy Bank Caravan Park is a friendly adult only, family-owned caravan park. Set in 7 acres of beautiful countryside between Bishops Castle in Shropshire and Welshpool in Powys, Wales. It’s perfect for guests who want to enjoy a comfortable private base to explore the local area, visit family, or enjoy the great outdoors. The new (in 2022) self-contained lodge is perfectly situated offering a quiet and comfortable stay. Internally, the lodge has two bedrooms, one double bedroom and the second a single bed. Both cleverly designed incorporating furniture to utilise the space and offering loads of natural light. The main bathroom with shower is a generous size with modern fixtures. The open plan modern kitchen/dining area has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Around the corner is the living area, spacious and airy with patio doors that open out onto the decking area. On the decking you will find lovely outdoor furniture, to relax and take in the peaceful and beautiful area.
Externally, there is vast amounts of rural space, with views of the Shropshire countryside. Being an adult only Caravan Park, there are other guests staying here, giving you the choice to make friends or be perfectly independent. For most things you need go no further than Churchstoke Shopping Centre just 2 miles along the road from Daisy Bank. Here you will find a good sized supermarket, butchers, post office, and petrol station. There is also a plant centre, hairdresser, pound store and a café. Bishops Castle has some small but very good independent retailers. Bishops Castle is also home to two micro-brewery’s, which are well worth a visit. Fishing is available along the River Severn and its tributaries between Newtown and Welshpool. The Montgomery Canal is also popular and requires a club fishing permit. Clun is a pretty river crossing with remains of a Norman castle. Visit Craven Arms for Stokesay Castle, a fine medieval fortified house. Church Stretton, like Clun and Bishops Castle, is a centre for walking routes. Further afield, Ironbridge, tells of the industrial revolution through its magnificent River Severn bridge and museums. Ludlow’s annual food festival adds to its reputation for dining and shopping. It has an impressive castle and riverside. Towe Cottage is a homely place to stay for your South Wales break. The cottage comfortably sleeps three guests and has all the facilities you need for your break. The living space is open plan with a cosy seating area, a smart TV, as well as a dining table, great for enjoying a meal or a board game together. The kitchen is well equipped with a small breakfast table too, and the ground floor bathroom has a shower over the bath. There are two bedrooms on the first floor – a double bedroom with a small TV, plenty of storage space and bedside tables, and the other is a single bedroom with storage space and an extra fold-out bed ideal for younger children if needed! Sat on the edge of the Beacons, you’ll be just a short drive from fantastic places to visit including popular waterfall walks as well as the National Showcaves and of course plenty of peaks! You will also be a short drive from Wales’ second largest city, Swansea, and in under an hour you could visit the Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where you’ll find impressive coastlines, idyllic beaches and gorgeous countryside.

Tucked away up a rural country lane within the small Welsh village of Meifod lies Pentre Cottage. Suited for couples or a small family, all can enjoy an idyllic haven here. This delightful space has been lovingly restored by the owners with exposed beams, and well-thought-out rustic features making it an ideal place to stay whilst exploring this part of Mid Wales. Sink into the comfy sofa with a glass of wine and chat into the night. There’s also a quaint dining table for four in this space, which is a nice spot to enjoy tasty meals together. The property has a pleasant rustic style kitchen that’s home to all the amenities you’ll need, open plan with the dining and living areas. Upstairs are two bedrooms, the front being the double with nice views of the countryside and the Meifod Valley, whilst the second back bedroom features a single bed. The main bathroom has a spacious corner shower with towel rail and is perfectly situated between the two bedrooms. Stepping outside, guests have access to an enclosed lawned garden with outdoor furniture to dine al fresco if you choose. There’s also a place for storing bikes, wetsuits or walking gear.
Being located in this amazing part of Mid Wales, you have lots to see and do in the area. The popular Lake Vyrnwy is close by and is worth a visit, you can get back to nature and experience the walks, trails and abundance of wildlife. There is also a great café and there’s plenty for children too, including nest box trails and bat and owl walks. You are also only 7 miles from the town of Welshpool. Welshpool’s main streets are lined with beautiful Georgian buildings and there’s lots of independent shops and cafés to see. Partly medieval, but with grand 17th century interiors, Powys Castle and Garden presides over the finest historic garden in Wales. It was created in the 1670s and is a very popular place for visitors today. From April to October, you can ride the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway along this delightful narrow-gauge heritage railway from Raven Square to Llanfair Caereinion. It’s a 16-mile round trip which takes around 45 minutes each way. There are many nature reserves in the area, Llyn Coed y Dinas is a fantastic home for all sorts of wildlife. For the outdoor adventurers why not walk along Glyndwr’s Way. Glyndwr’s Way is a 135-mile National Trail which loops through glorious Mid Wales countryside. It starts from Knighton’s Town Clock, heads northwest to Machynlleth, then turns northeast, ending at the Montgomery Canal, Welshpool. Most people walk it in that direction, but you could easily start from Welshpool and sample a section. Ideally located for exploring as much or as little of the area as you like. Whatever you decide, you will have a wonderful stay at Pentre Cottage.

Glan Y Nant is a static caravan set in its own garden overlooking a stream and fields. It is just off the A44, a main route into Wales from Herefordshire, and is located in a rural area surrounded by wildlife and scenic views, however, you may hear the passing traffic. It is a good base for hikers, dog owners, cyclists, artists, photographers and nature lovers.
It is ideally situated to visit the Welsh towns of Presteigne, Knighton, Builth Wells (Royal Welsh Showground 11 miles away), Llandrindod Wells or to follow the Black and White village trail through pretty Herefordshire. It is also suitable as a base for the Hay-on-Wye Book Festival and Brecon Jazz Festival. If after a day of exploring you want to eat out there are pubs in Knighton, Presteigne, Titley and Kington.
There are three steps to enter the caravan, and once inside you will find a well-equipped kitchen and a welcoming open-plan living room with a separate dining area. Hidden below one of the bench-style sofas is a sprung sofa bed. The living area has an electric fire that enhances the cosy ambience. There is a double bedroom with an en-suite toilet with a sink and heated towel rail. The single bedroom is next to the family bathroom which has a shower cubicle, heated towel rail, toilet and sink. Both rooms have comfortable mattresses, hanging wardrobes drawer space and bedside tables with lamps.
Outside there is a large patio with a bench overlooking the stream. There are recliners and a dining table set for al fresco meals or just sit on the bench to enjoy the surrounding natural beauty. The enclosed lawn at one end provides space for dogs to play safely and walks on the farmland can be arranged. Playing in the stream is a favourite and there is a bird hide on the farm where you can see numerous birds on feeders both resident and seasonal.
