Just a two minute walk from this cottage brings you to a harbour and award-winning sandy beach. The terraced holiday cottage is tucked away in a quiet village in a corner of the Lake District with easy access to the south and west lakes. An ideal base for walking parties with Black Combe, the Old Man of Coniston and Langdale Fells all within easy reach. The area abounds in history, interesting places to visit include Muncaster Castle, Ravensglass and Eskdale Steam Railway and the village of Hawkshead (home of Beatrix Potter) all excellent day trips. Watersports, pony-trekking, fishing and many nature reserves are all easily accessible. Shops and pub 50 yards, restaurant 75 yards.

Brow House is reported to be one of the oldest properties in the village. Nestled in the village of Brigsteer, a short drive from the popular towns of Windermere and Kendal, this cottage dates to the early 1600’s. It boasts an original oak front door, an inglenook fireplace, and wooden beams.
From the moment you step into this cosy cottage you will be enchanted by its character and charm. The spacious country kitchen provides all modern conveniences for a comfortable stay plus a breakfast bar and stools. It won’t be long before your eyes are drawn to the living room with its stunning original character features. The rear door leads from here to the secret walled cottage garden on the southwest side of the property, to take full advantage of the warm sunny days.
This property is ideally located if you want to soak up traditional country life in a pretty village with a popular pub just a short walk from the house. If you enjoy walking, there are an abundance of beautiful walks from the front door. Alternatively, you may prefer some of the Lake District’s fantastic fells a short drive away. This is also a popular cycling area if you want to bring your bikes. The old market town of Kendal, famous for its annual mountain festival and mint cake is a short drive away. In addition, Bowness-on-Windermere is only 20 minutes away. Here you can take a cruise across the lake, visit Beatrix Potter World, Windermere Jetty Museum, or experience the array of shops, bars, and restaurants. Levens village, 5 minutes’ drive away has a very well-stocked village shop. In addition, Levens Hall and Gardens is a 10-minute drive from the cottage, being famous for the world’s oldest topiary gardens, has a wonderful café very popular with the locals, serving delicious home-cooked food and a wide selection of drinks. Upon entering this charming traditional lakeland cottage from the rear, you will find a welcoming farmhouse-style kitchen/dining area with a wonderful stone fire surround, Belfast sink and all the modern conveniences required to ensure a comfortable stay. There is a further feature fireplace in the cosy living room with plenty of seating as well as a Smart TV. The first floor is home to a large master bedroom with uninterrupted views over Morecambe Bay. A spacious single bedroom is across the landing. A traditional bathroom with free-standing bathtub, overhead rainfall shower, sink inset into a vanity unit, and toilet can also be found on this floor. The property features a south-facing patio area, ideal for enjoying a morning coffee or your favourite drink on a warm sunny day.
The cottage is situated in the small village of Allithwaite and is just a stone’s throw from the local pub serving delicious food and drink. The Edwardian seaside town of Grange-over-Sands is walkable if you’re inclined to explore on foot, or a mere 10-minute drive. The neighbouring village of Cartmel, with its 12th-century priory and racecourse, is also just under 2 miles away. Almond Cottage is the ideal holiday home for visiting the Lake District National Park. You are not far from any of the main routes around the Lakes, and Lake Windermere is only 9 miles away. Other nearby places include Holker Hall, Sizergh Castle, Grizedale Forest and the Lakeland Motor Museum. Kendal, Bowness and Windermere are 30 minutes away. Skydiving Northwest is in Flookburgh, 2½ miles away, and Grange-over-Sands offers golf. Cycle trails such as the Cartmel Cycle Loop are popular. Train links serve Kents Bank, Grange-over-Sands, Arnside, Silverdale (for RSPB Leighton Moss), Ulverston, for its market town with cobbled streets and appealing shops, and Lancaster, for its busy, student vibe. There is a village shop ¼ mile away and Grange-over-Sands has a wide range of amenities, along with the promenade and ornamental gardens. You enter the property via a shared hallway and as you open the door you move into a corridor. You have the shower room off this corridor, which leads to the stairs taking you up to the main living area. The door opens to a completely open plan space showing off high ceilings and exposed wooden beams. This is an ideal studio for a romantic break in the lakes, with modern styling and furnishings. The kitchen is well appointed and can cope with anything from a simple sandwich to a candle lit meal for two.
Grizebeck is a quiet hamlet which is ideally located within easy travelling distance to the ever-popular Coniston and Windemere waters. For the walking and cycling enthusiasts, you can start your adventures from the doorstep, or if your interests lie in less energetic pastimes the nearby towns of Ulverston, Coniston, Ambleside and Bowness all offer great shopping, with a wonderful selection of independent shops, galleries and attractions. You’ll be spoilt for choice for venues to eat and drink, with everything from bistro cafés to Michelin star restaurants. The choice of entertainment available is as diverse as the dining options, from segways to escape rooms, museums to galleries, water sports to high ropes adventures, aquariums to a safari zoo, and steam trains to lake cruises on offer. Whatever your interest, you’ll be sure to find something you like and it’s all set against the backdrop of some of the most stunning scenery on the planet.

Hillside Farm Cottage is a two-bedroom cottage in the popular Cumbrian coastal location of Allithwaite, the helpful owners live next door. The property itself was once the former farmhouse to the surrounding land and countryside. Renovated in 2020, this beautiful modern cottage offers well-proportioned rooms and is perfect for couples and families to relax, unwind and explore the sights of the South Cumbrian Coast. You have the best of both worlds with easy access to Humphrey Head beach, a popular tourist spot for beach lovers which is 2 miles away and you are right on the border of The Lake District National Park. You have it all, with walks, great cycling routes, stunning scenery, local pubs and great shopping.

Allithwaite is a short drive from both Grange-Over-Sands and Cartmel and is only about 7 miles from the southern tip of Lake Windermere with easy access to the higher fells. The local pub is a short walk away, where a warm welcome is guaranteed and delicious food is always on offer. Grange-Over-Sands and surrounding districts offer an interesting selection of historic seaside resorts and quaint rural villages. Grange is an elegant town with a long, sweeping promenade fronting the bay, lined with antique and collector’s shops and cafés. Cartmel, famous for its priory and race meetings, is well worth a visit, if only to sample the local sticky toffee pudding. For family fun, take a ride on The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway which connects directly to The Windermere Lake Cruises at Lakeside, opening a delightful sailing trip to Ambleside and Bowness-on Windermere on England’s longest lake.

Thanks to its prime location, you can leave the cars behind, and explore on foot. Cockermouth town centre, birthplace of William Wordsworth, is just a short walk from the property. In fact, the National Trust Wordsworth House is just a few minutes’ walk. The main town centre is also easily reached on foot. Cockermouth is a thriving market town full of hidden surprises at every turn. It boasts a great selection of pubs, quaint restaurants, micro-breweries, local craft shops, independent coffee houses, delicatessens, speciality shops and of course, well known retailers and branded stores too.
If you like culture, Kirkgate Arts shows movies, arts and drama. Fancy a swim? The leisure centre is also nearby as well as local cycle hire. Cockermouth is on the border of the Lake District National Park, so whether you like the rugged adventure of the mountains or the serenity of the seaside, you’ve got the best of both worlds. You’re also within easy reach of some glorious lakes. Take a 5-mile drive to Bassenthwaite Lake at the foot of the Skiddaw range for fantastic walks, woodland, wildlife and water sports. You’ll also find the Lakes Distillery offering tasting tours as well as the Lake District Wildlife Park just 6 miles away. The popular town of Keswick is 14 miles away and can be reached in about 20 minutes. For walkers and cyclists, you’ll love the route through Whinlatter Forest Park, or continue down the valley to Buttermere which boasts stunning panoramic scenery. Beach 8 miles.

As the name suggests, this former courthouse commands a prominent position in the popular town of Silloth. It is a historic building set just off the cobbled promenade and has been renovated to a very good standard to provide a fantastic holiday home - just perfect for couples and families looking for a memorable holiday by the sea. It makes a great base if you’re looking for a coastal escape and this delightful Victorian seaside town has a lot to offer.
This entire house sleeps up to six guests and features one kingsize, one double bedroom, and a twin bedroom. It has two contemporary bathrooms, a spacious living room leading to a large dining room, and a well-equipped, fully-integrated kitchen. There’s plenty of parking, and a children’s park across the road too so you can enjoy the fresh seaside air. Outside the front of the property, is a spacious seating area to watch the world go by.
Located on the Solway Coast this charming property is close to the beach, promenade, the famous green hosting a variety of activities during the summer and it’s handy for shops and amenities including outdoor tennis courts, amusements, a motorcycle museum, good bars and cafés, a supermarket, and it’s home to one of the top 100 golf courses in England, so bring your clubs if you fancy a round, but be sure to book well in advance.
Silloth has an interesting man-made harbour, excellent coastal walking and is very near to the start of Hadrian’s Long-Distance Cycleway for 26 miles of traffic-free cycling. The docks at Silloth are over 150 years old. Beyond the docks, West Silloth Beach has a delightful expanse of clean sand, backed by dunes, and is teeming with interesting animal and plant life. Porpoises are sometimes spotted not far from the promenade which stretches out towards Skinburness. In winter a wide variety of migrant birds visit the nearby saltmarshes and the nearby RSPB Solway Wetlands Centre is ideal for bird lovers.
There are fine views across the Solway Firth towards the hills of Southern Scotland and you can enjoy many other attractions and places to visit in the area including the harbour towns of Maryport and Whitehaven all within easy driving distance including Carlisle, Cockermouth, Keswick and Northern Lakes, Hadrian’s Wall and even Southern Scotland. Of course, being in Cumbria, you can easily explore The Lake District National Park, climb the highest mountain in England and take a cruise on many of the famous lakes in the region.

This beautiful four-bedroom cottage is located in the village of Santon, near Holmrook, and is perfect for a couples retreat or a family get-together. It provides an excellent base to explore The Western Lake District. Located in a picturesque village and within easy reach of nearby shops, pubs, towns, lakes and fells, including the shortest route up Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, you’re spoilt for choice.
This spacious holiday home is very well-equipped and offers a range of beds and sleeping arrangements. It can comfortably sleep up to six adults and two children. There is only a dining table for six, but there are additional dining chairs around the house and an open plan living room so you can all be together. The ground floor features an open-plan living room and dining room with wood burner, and there is a boot room for your walking gear and jackets. The kitchen is well equipped and features a country-style kitchen and Belfast sink. On the first floor you’ll find three comfortable bedrooms and a shower room, whilst the second floor offers an attic-style family room and bathroom. Outside is a large, enclosed lawned garden with wonderful fell views.
Santon is set in the Western Lake District, between Gosforth and Eskdale, arguably one of the most unspoilt areas of the National Park. There are several small villages, towns, and hamlets nearby, most with pubs, café’s, shops and excellent amenities. Santon Bridge, 1 mile away, has a pub, gift shop and tearoom. Gosforth, 2 miles, has a couple of good pubs serving food and local ales, an excellent convenience shop and deli, and a coffee shop/café.
Nearby you’ll find several great days out and tourist attractions including Muncaster Castle, fun for all the family, or ride the La’al Ratty on The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. And of course, there are great walks to be had around lakes and fells, and a beach and sand dunes at nearby Drigg, 5 miles away.

Cockermouth is a hidden gem and a great choice for a short break in The Lakes, as well as an ideal base for a longer stay as you can reach nearby Keswick in about 20 minutes. If you love the outdoors, you have a fishery and a golf course nearby as well as plenty of local walks and cycle trails. A trip to Cumbria wouldn’t be the same without putting on your walking boots and enjoying the picturesque scenery of the Northern Fells and Lakes. From here you can also reach the West Cumbrian Coast in less than 10 miles.
