Stalmine is located approximately 5 miles from the small market town of Poulton-le-Fylde which has a good selection of shops, bars, and cafés. Other places that are worth a visit along the Fylde coast include Thornton Cleveleys with its old-fashioned charm and promenade, 7 miles, Fleetwood with its Freeport Outlet Shopping Village, 10 miles, and of course Blackpool, 9 miles, whose many attractions include The Tower, Blackpool Zoo, Pleasure Beach, Sea Life Centre, and Madame Tussauds.
Apart from being accessible for the coast, Carr End Barn A is also well-placed for exploring rural Lancashire. Ribble Valley with its pretty villages is within an hour’s drive, and it’s an excellent choice for walks and country pubs. The Forest of Bowland, which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, can also be reached within an hour’s drive. The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are also very accessible by road and can be reached in an hour. The city of Lancaster is just 13 miles away and Preston is 19 miles. Beach 9¾ miles. Located in the tiny hamlet of Whitechapel, a stone’s throw from not one but two award winning gin distilleries, one a gin school, one has a quirky gin distillery where you can call in for tastings and a cake. There’s also a local pub with great food within walking distance. The surrounding area is full of charming villages which also provide a good selection of quality restaurants, quaint tea rooms, shops and traditional pubs to accommodate most taste.

The Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty covers 312 square miles and you’ll find the landscape has immense diversity with spectacular woodland, moorland and farmland to explore. You’ll find ample paths and lanes to follow direct from the door and many closer by including the popular Nicky Nook and Grizedale Valley. The summit of Beacon Fell is 266 metres above sea level and as you’d imagine offers spectacular views over the Forest of Bowland and Morecambe Bay, and on a clear day it’s even possible to see the Isle of Man. The Fylde coastal resorts of Blackpool, Lytham, St Annes and Cleveleys can be reached in around a 20-minute drive and between them is much to see and do. In wonderfully cosmopolitan Lytham there is a variety of bars, cafés, boutique shops and restaurants, and in St Annes you will find a beautiful sandy beach with colourful beach huts. The area is internationally famous for golf and the towns also host various events throughout the year, including the Lytham Proms and St Annes Kite Festival. Blackpool needs little introduction with its many attractions including the famous tower, Madame Tussauds Waxworks, the Sealife Centre, Pleasure Beach and Blackpool Zoo. For a change of scenery the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is much loved for its stunning countryside and picturesque villages, can be reached in about half an hour. Just over an hour’s drive will take you into York and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Altham is a quiet village in the borough of Hyndburn in Lancashire. A village pub, local shops, petrol station and takeaways are all within a few miles. A popular and scenic area, Pendle Hill is within easy reach of the site, as is the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which offers ample opportunity for remote walking and cycling away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. An easy journey under one hour will take you to the city of Preston in one direction, and historic Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the other. Pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
