In the centre of Bowness, there is the World of Beatrix Potter, the home of Peter Rabbit and friends. Golf, horse riding are also available locally. The Windermere ferry from Bowness to Far Sawrey takes 10 minutes and runs daily every 30 minutes; from here you can walk to Hill Top, Beatrix Potter’s former home, and now run by the National Trust, the Tower Arms in the village is also worth a visit for lunch!
