The Solway Coast which is only 4 miles away has a lovely beach with long walks with paths along the coast great for dog walkers then relax and grab an ice cream or head too the local pub for a meal in allonby or visit silloth and Mayport two off the harbour towns on the solway coast with coffee shops, cafés, pubs takeaways and supermarkets or venture into the north lakes keswick only 14 miles away which has lots outdoor stuff to do with two lakes bassethwaite and derwent water in the area great for water activities paddle boarding ,swimming ,canoeing this property is next door too other cottages great for big family/friends get togethers. Springholm is a lovely, quirky, terraced holiday cottage situated in the beautiful village of Bootle, on the west coast of the Lake District National Park. Built in 1757, Springholm has been used as a home and carpenter’s workshop before being re-converted in 1991. Bootle is one of the oldest and smallest market towns in Britain, with a population of about 700. The market charter was granted in 1348 by King Edward III. Springholm looks out onto the fells and there is easy access to Bootle Fell, Corney Fell, Birker Fell and Black Combe. The stunning high fells around Wasdale - including Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England - are just 15 miles away. Roman ruins and light railway at Ravenglass estuary are 8 miles away, Muncaster Castle and World Owl Sanctuary, 7 miles. Eskmeals beach is 1 mile, other good beaches at Haverigg and Silecroft. You are only a short car journey to Cartmel with its delightful priory and home to its famous sticky toffee pudding. The Southern tip of Windermere, where you can join the Lakeside and Haverthwaite steam railway to visit the Lakeland Motor Museum. Or why not take a Windermere Lake Cruise to Bowness or Ambleside. If you love the outdoors, this offers a great base to explore much of The South Lakes including Hawkshead, Windermere, Coniston and Ulverston is just up the coast.
