The Solway marshes are popular with bird watchers and fishermen, nature lovers, and watersport enthusiasts are all well catered for. Alternatively relax in the walled, fenced and gated grounds with plenty of sitting out areas. Centrally located between the lakeside town of Keswick and the historic city of Carlisle (both 23 miles) this is an excellent location for families and groups of friends wishing to explore the Lake District, Scottish Border and Cumbrian Coast. There are beautiful walks and cycle paths from the door, whilst the Lake District Fells such as The Langdale Pikes and the Old Man of Coniston are a short drive. Only 4½ miles from Lake Windermere and Bowness with boutiques, galleries, tea rooms, pubs, water sports and ferries to Hawkshead, Coniston and the Grizedale Forest. Cruisers at Bowness offer trips round the lake taking in the wonderful scenery, calling at Ambleside to the north or Lakeside to the south to visit the fascinating Aquarium of the Lakes. Orrest Head House was built in 1672 and was one of the first houses in Birthwaite, (as Windermere was known before it was renamed when the railway arrived in the 1850’s). Orrest Head House stands at the head of Windermere village and shares over 2 acres of stunning private grounds with Orrest Head Cottage (which can also be rented through Cumbrian Cottages CC127230). As you’d expect the house is packed full of eclectic features, which have evolved in over 400 years of history. After a recent renovation the house features a state-of-the-art kitchen with an adjacent TV snug room, lounge with huge sumptuous Chesterfield sofas seating 16 people, formal dining room with a grand square table again seating 16. And perhaps the most outstanding feature is Josiah Brown’s bar, your own pub within in a house, perfect for a party! Ravenstonedale gives you the best of so many areas to explore and enjoy, surrounded by what is effectively three National Parks. The North Pennines with rolling hills, woodland, and picturesque surroundings. The Yorkshire Dales National Park, with caves, waterfalls, iconic and historical towns and villages and the Lake District National Park with lakes, mountains and any number of tourist hotspots. If you like walking, hiking, climbing, cycling or you just like to drive around beautiful countryside and enjoy afternoon tea and a bit of shopping, you’re spoilt for choice. But you don’t have to travel far, nearby Kirkby Stephen is steeped in history and offers a good selection of bars, restaurants, independent shops and sights to visit. It also offers several walking routes locally, plenty of wildlife and pleasant scenery. The market town of Kendal, 20 miles, is known as the ‘gateway to the southern Lake District’, and perfect for a day of shopping. From here you can easily access the popular tourist hotspots of Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere as well as take a cruise on the famous Windermere steamers.

Yewtree House is an impressive Holiday home of considerable size and will comfortably accommodate up to 16 guests, with a large dining table. It is ideal for a large family gathering or groups of walkers seeking to enjoy the splendour of the Eastern Lakes. The house is easily accessible, only 5 minutes drive from the M6 in the village of Tirril, and lies only 3 miles from Ullswater and Pooley Bridge and 3 miles from Penrith. The pub in Tirril is within easy walking distance and provides a restaurant and small shop. Bar meals are served throughout the day. A mile away in Yanwath is another pub restaurant renowned for its cuisine.
Tirril Lodge sits in spacious grounds with views over open countryside to both the front and rear. Activities available locally include pony trekking at Sockbridge and a variety of water sports on Ullswater, including sailing instruction, as well as some of the best fell walking in the Lake District. The house is ideally situated for exploring both the northern and southern lakes and fells. Situated just 2½ miles from the beautiful scenery of Ullswater, you can enjoy a trip around the lake on a steamer and visit the impressive waterfall at Aira Force. A spectacular journey along the shores of Ullswater and over the Kirkstone Pass takes you to Lake Windermere. At the head of Derwentwater and 15 miles from Sockbridge, lies the town of Keswick with its lovely parks and selection of coffee, gift and outdoor shops.

The Beach House at Whinthwaite is a fabulous seafront property with a hot tub in the coastal town of Seascale. Perfect for a family reunion, special celebration, or a large group holiday. The Beach House at Whinthwaite is on the Cumbrian coast near Gosforth in the West Lakes, this delightful village near to the Eskdale and Wasdale valleys offers an excellent shop and several pubs. From here you have easy access to some of most picturesque and dramatic scenery this Cumbrian hotspot has to offer. The highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike is a short drive through the countryside with beautiful lakes and walking routes nearby, while Drigg beach and Sand Dunes is about a mile away. You have an excellent links golf course at Seascale just walking distance from The Beach House at Whinthwaite. Muncaster Castle is a 10-minute drive where you can tour the haunted castle, take in the birds of prey show and enjoy the stunning gardens. La’al Ratty, a narrow-gauge steam railway from Dalegarth to Boot. You can also enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding and gyhll scrambling. Whether you’re looking for scenery, adventure or climbing, Whinthwaite is a great starting point. Beach 200 yards.

The Coach House sits privately in the grounds of Morland Hall, near Penrith in the Eden Valley. Enter the grounds through the automatic gates and follow the road up to the grand Morland Hall on your left and there is woodland to your right. When you enter this wonderful property there is a wide hallway with multiple doors to the spacious living/dining area with high ceilings, large TV and wood burning stove. There is a second lounge that comes off the kitchen with a large Smart TV and Sky. It has a multi fuel stove and the seating incorporates a double sofa bed for extra guests or the kids and an ensuite with bath and walk in shower. Leading up the stairs there is a mezzanine bedroom with a king size bed. Walk through to the games room where many an evening will be enjoyed challenging each other on one of the games consoles or board games. The kitchen area is fully equipped to create sumptuous feasts or snacks and spend quality time for your family and friends. There are four main bedrooms on the first floor: three with super kingsize beds, one with a kingsize bed, and each room has a different theme and a private en-suite bath, shower, and toilet facilities.
The outside space offers a few different areas. The patio area that traps the sun all day has seating and a large, wood-fired hot tub. The large garden offers a second patio area, has a large lawn area and a wood chipped play area, ideal for kids, with a sunken trampoline and play items, this area has multiple seating arrangements, plus a large BBQ. A fabulous place to spend time with your friends and family there is something for everyone!
Morland is positioned in the Eden Valley and just over 10 miles to the north and south Lake District to enjoy days out hiking, ferry cruises or shopping. Alternatively, you can stay closer to home and enjoy the Eden Valley that consists of lots of small villages with locally run pubs and cafés and excellent walking and cycling routes from the front door.
