Lying to the western side of Corney Fell, which is dominated by Black Combe, you will enjoy the most extensive views. The former Foldgate Farmhouse, nestles around a courtyard with outhouse and stables, and has been extensively refurbished. The farmhouse has lovely features - wooden and flagged floors, beams, wood burner and open fire, and has been warmly decorated and furnished with great attention to comfort. This charming 200 year old semi-detached holiday cottage is full of character and is situated in the village of Bowness, in the heart of the Lake District. In addition to the fantastic walks for all abilities there are numerous attractions for all the family. Windermere lake cruises sail daily between Bowness, Ambleside and Lakeside, where you can also board the Haverthwaite steam train. In the centre of Bowness, there is the World of Beatrix Potter, the home of Peter Rabbit and friends. Golf, horse riding are also available locally. The Windermere ferry from Bowness to Far Sawrey takes 10 minutes and runs daily every 30 minutes; from here you can walk to Hill Top, Beatrix Potter’s former home, and now run by the National Trust, the Tower Arms in the village is also worth a visit for lunch! There are many excellent shops, pubs and restaurants within walking distance of the cottage, some of which are dog friendly. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

The Old Forge is a sympathetically converted, detached 200-year old cottage retaining many character features, and has an enclosed garden. It has barn owls for neighbours - they nest in the adjoining barn!

Ennerdale Water and Wastwater, once voted ’Britain’s Best View’ and nearby Scafell Pike, are within easy driving distance. For a superb day out, Muncaster Castle also has beautiful gardens and an internationally renowned Owl Sanctuary, not to mention the amazing views from its elevated position.
