Designed by Augustus (AWN) Pugin for the original directors of The Kendal Windermere railway, Number One, the flagship house on The Terrace is now available as a holiday let sleeping 14 people. The house has been renovated in a boutique hotel style, whilst retaining the features which gave it its grade II listing. On the ground floor there is a beautiful hand made kitchen with 4 oven Aga, it’s a fabulous space to cook up a gastronomic delight. Next door is a large utility room for those muddy boots and dogs and a very posh downstairs toilet. The large lounge has sumptuous leather Chesterfield sofas to seat up to 20 people in front of the fire. Perhaps Number One’s most special feature is a bar/dining room/party room. We’ve designed the space around get togethers, it has the capacity for the occupants of both number One and Two The terrace to dine together or if you’ve taken even more of our 5 houses on The Terrace you can push the tables back and use the room as your very own bar. In the cellar there’s an 18 seat cinema with 75 inch Smart TV. Login to your Netflix or Amazon Prime account and go to the movies in the comfort of your own holiday home. On the first floor there are 4 double bedrooms each with their own unique style. Bedroom one is a king size with en suite bathroom. Bedroom 2 has a super king size sleigh bed. Bedroom 3 is a standard double with antique style metal bedstead. Bedroom 4 is decorated and furnished in French style. There is also a large family bathroom with walk in wet room and huge free standing bath. The second floor is home to a room we affectionately call "The Dormitory", it has 4 single beds, the perfect place for the kids to disappear into. Next door is a double room with sloping feature eaves. There is an elegant bathroom with shower over bath and a second shower room. White Moss is one of our 5 historic buildings designed by Augustus (AWN) Pugin to let on The Terrace in Windermere. The house sleeps up to twelve in five bedrooms. Downstairs there’s a living room with seating for fifteen people, the room has a wood burning stove and large flat screen TV. The dining room is quite regal, with large table seating 11. The room also has a wood burning stove. The kitchen is hand made solid pine, with two oven Aga and a second range cooker, plus and all the usual appliances. Opposite the kitchen is a utility room with washing machine and dryer, plus an extra American style fridge/freezer with icemaker. It’s a great space for muddy boots and wet dogs. Finally there’s a down stairs toilet. In the cellar there’s a fantastic cinema room with twelve fold down cinema seats and a 75" Smart TV. On the first floor there are 4 bedrooms. Bedroom 1 is a king size 4 poster. Bedroom two is a cosy single. Bedroom 3 is a kingsize. Bedroom 4 has three single beds. There is a shower room with toilet and sink and a bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. Located on the second floor bedroom 5 has four single beds also on this floor is a statement bathroom with free standing bath, toilet and sink. White Moss is a great house for up to twelve people close to the heart of Windermere. It can be combined with any of our other houses on The Terrace (which each sleep fourteen). This very spacious, detached property is the ultimate getaway, with both a games room and an outdoor play area for children. It also has superb living, kitchen and dining areas for the rest of the family. Meadow View is perfect for families coming together, or for large groups needing somewhere to meet as a base and enjoy fun and time together. With the Roanhead Beach just over 3 miles away, and only a short drive into the South Lakes, this is superbly positioned accommodation for any occasion. Equally, you could just remain on site for a relaxing time away, parked behind the electric gates, and enjoy the on-site gymnasium, hot tub and games areas without the need to drive anywhere else. For those bringing infants and toddlers, the property provides ample equipment such as a baby bath with a seat insert for the main bath too, bottle maker, bottle warmer, steriliser, baby bouncer, electronic swing chair, a few toys, highchair, travel cot and a wooden cot which can be placed in any room. The Coach House is a superbly equipped barn conversion situated on the edge of the delightful market town of Brampton. This quirky semi-detached property has an upside down layout with the spacious living/kitchen/dining area on the first floor. Everything has been thought of to ensure you have a relaxing stay, from the sumptuous beds with M&S feather pillows and duvet, and luxurious toiletries, to the cosy gas fire and large TV with over 200 DVDs in the sitting room, home from home in every sense of the word. The dining area has a 6-seater oak table as well as a selection of books. In 2018 the property was given a VisitEngland award of excellence. The awards celebrate the very best in English tourism, championing excellence in best practice and customer service. The property is decorated with a Christmas theme during the festive season, and also boasts convenient off road private parking for 2 cars on the drive in front of the barn gate.

Take a stroll into the centre of town and sample the many good restaurants and pubs. A must is a trip to Talkin Tarn Country Park, 2 miles from Brampton with its 65-acre lake set amidst 120 acres of farmland and woodland. The Tarn is an ideal place for recreation or a quiet stroll through the mature woodlands. No stay in Cumbria is complete without visiting Hadrian’s Wall, the most important monument built by the Romans in Britain. It stretches 73 miles from Wallsend, Newcastle across the neck of England to the Solway in north west Cumbria. Within Cumbria are Banks Turret, near Brampton and Birdoswald Roman Fort a few miles away. The Coach House is also an ideal base to explore Carlisle, The Lake District, Northumbria and the Scottish Borders. Shop, pub and restaurant 800 yards.

Nestled in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside Blaithwaite Estate is surrounded by 80 acres of estate grounds made up of 30 acres of gardens and grounds and 50 acres of woodland. Blaithwaite House (ref UKC1358) is a Grade II listed, detached country mansion which has been in the same family since the 1700s and is now available for guests to enjoy. The spacious country mansion is awash with original features from original ceiling roses and exquisite fireplaces to stained glass windows which adorn the building, helping it achieve its listed status. Comfortable accommodation is provided for up to forty people, in single, double and family rooms. The bedrooms, all but one room with en-suite facilities, enjoy views down to the sprawling front lawn and rose garden or across the courtyard.
Blaithwaite House is set in a large mature garden, ideal for your children or the dog to play in, with manicured lawns and a charming walled rose garden with a beautiful summerhouse set on an island (the small ornamental water is over 300 meters from the property and down a set of stone steps).
You don’t have to go too far to explore, as the estate grounds offer a wealth of activities available (at cost) are laser tag, or bushcraft, and seasonal event days or for something a little gentler (and no cost), play crazy golf, play on the play areas, and football fields, take a walk around the woodland including a specialist arboretum and wetlands that you can explore, you can even grab the estate nature passport to assist with your exploring!
If you fancy exploring the area, the estate is set midway between Keswick and Carlisle where you can find a great range of shops, restaurants and bars, plus museums and activities to suit a wide range of tastes and interests. Beach 10 miles. Shop 1½ miles, pub 2 miles and restaurant 5 miles.

Set within 23-acres of grounds, home to an array of wildlife, you are well placed to explore the quieter Northern Fells, unspoilt coastline, and the historic city of Carlisle, 13 miles away. Hadrian’s Wall can be reached in around an hour’s drive, so you are sure to be kept well occupied. The nearby village of Caldbeck, 3 miles away, is a pretty little area to visit, with its local pub serving an excellent menu of freshly cooked food, tea rooms and shops to visit too. Beach 16¾ miles. Close to Coniston Water and at the southern end of the Lake District National Park, Souterstead, standing detached, offers all the space and comforts your party would need for their stay. With underfloor heated slate flooring, the bespoke kitchen, the sumptuous beds, or just relaxing in the living room with the wood burner, you will not want your break to end! French doors in the living room overlook open countryside and lead onto the garden.
For the younger members of the family, the well-equipped entertainment room with its 50 inch Smart TV and connection hub for your games console will keep them happy and occupied, or for the dog lovers, endless miles of open walks are available for you and your four-legged friends to explore. There is even an outside tap to wash their muddy paws or hose down your bike afterwards.
Souterstead is the perfect place to entertain, with the excellent ultra tech Sonos sound system providing entertainment throughout the ground floor; the large dining table with ample space for everyone to dine together; and the separate living room with leather sofas and wood burner to relax in front of. The kitchen has everything from a wine cooler to a boiling water tap, and a beautiful polished wooden breakfast bar to sit at and chat away over a glass of wine.
The nearby Lakeland villages of Coniston and Hawkshead are idyllic and have an abundance of shops and cafés to discover, and for the more adventurous, why not take to the treetop challenge of Grizedale Forest, or venture along the many paths by foot or by bike? Coniston Old Man is always a favourite to climb, yet there are many more walks for all, including your four-legged friends. You will also find and there are two dog friendly pubs within ½ mile.
For a little bit of Victorian elegance, why not have a trip out on the steam yacht gondola that sails on Coniston Water from March to November, or take to the water yourself for a real Swallows and Amazons adventure! There are so many things to fill your days all year round in this wonderful area, you will find that everyone will leave with a wonderful memory of their stay. Beach 12½ miles. Set in beautiful surroundings at New Mills Trout Fishing Park, why not try your hand at fly fishing? The lake is home to rainbow, tiger, blue and brown trout – probably the true fisherman’s ideal holiday destination. For the novice, try your hand at the fun fishing pond and bag yourself that ’I’ve caught my first fish’ experience, with all tuition and equipment provided. Also on-site to enjoy are giant games including Connect 4 and chess alongside a Fairy Trail and pond dipping, or simply visit the children’s play park and tackle shop. Please note costs for our fishing and other activities are separate and pre-booking is advised.
Lake View Cottage has a small patio area overlooking the fishery and boasts a private 34-jet hot tub for up to five guests. Enjoy the starry night sky while the warmth of the hot tub bubbles away. Another aspect perfect for socialising is the open-plan living space, seamlessly blending dining and quality time in one wholesome space. For additional comfort, both bedrooms invite you with zip and link beds, meaning flexible arrangements are offered ensuring a comfortable night’s sleep for friends and families alike.
The cottage is situated only 1 mile away from the picturesque market town of Brampton and further afield is the lovely city of Carlisle. Ullswater and the Northern Lakes are just over half an hour’s drive away. This is the ideal base for a holiday full of adventure and exploring, and no visit is complete without a visit to the famous Hadrian’s Wall. There are also lovely riverside walks close by.
