The Solway Coast which is only 4 miles away has a lovely beach with long walks with paths along the coast great for dog walkers then relax and grab an ice cream or head too the local pub for a meal in allonby or visit silloth and Mayport two off the harbour towns on the solway coast with coffee shops, cafés, pubs takeaways and supermarkets or venture into the north lakes keswick only 14 miles away which has lots outdoor stuff to do with two lakes bassethwaite and derwent water in the area great for water activities paddle boarding ,swimming ,canoeing this property is next door too other cottages great for big family/friends get togethers. This deceptively spacious detached holiday house has been tastefully renovated to a good standard, with a sunny conservatory, two bedrooms and bathroom on the ground floor. New for 2024, the property benefits from a new ’up-market’ kitchen along with new carpets to lounge, dining room and passage.
There is free Wi-fi in the property. There are also USB charger sockets in the main bedroom and the lounge. With Chrome Cast in the lounge, you can stream from your hand-held device. The pleasant village is situated within easy walking distance of Derwent Water, with all its watersports, and is only 1.5 miles walk through the fields to the popular Lake District town of Keswick. All around there are views of the mountains, from Skiddaw to Grizedale Pike and Cat Bells, with superb walking and cycling available locally (bike hire in Keswick). Sleeping up to eight guests, upstairs you’ll find four very comfortable bedrooms, the master with a kingsize bed and an en-suite bathroom, two further double bedrooms and bunk room suitable for children. There’s also a vanity room which is perfect for getting ready for a night out and a contemporary family bathroom with spa bath and steam shower cubicle. The ground floor features a comfortable living room with plenty of easy seating, leading to the kitchen with modern appliances and fittings, and a utility room with washer and dryer. Through the patio doors is a large conservatory which doubles up as an excellent dining room with additional easy seating and views of the lawned garden and patio.

Now the fun begins… Downstairs is home to an amazing cinema room with four leather effect, electric massage chairs with cup holders and additional bean bags which are great for the kids. In the conservatory you have access to a steam room, whilst in the garden you’ll find a hot tub, large timber outhouse with pool table and darts, as well as a Finnish timber hobbit house with firepit.

West Fells Cottage is situated in the village of Rowrah which is located on the fringe of the Lake District National Park between Cockermouth and Ennerdale. In less than 2 miles you’ll reach the National Park where you have an abundance of walks, cycle routes, wildlife, mountains and lakes. It offers easy access to explore the Western Lake District and coast, and has a couple of pubs and restaurants nearby. Your nearest lake is Ennerdale Water which is less than 4 miles away. Ennerdale is widely regarded as one of the most unspoilt areas of the Lake District National Park, and thanks to this it is teaming with wildlife including indigenous red squirrels, ospreys and buzzards. If that’s not enough, Loweswater is less than 6 miles away which leads to Crummock Water and then Buttermere. The scenery around this unspoilt part of the Lakes is stunning, and the beauty, colours and unforgettable panoramic views are a sight to behold. Whether you want an easy stroll, a challenging walk or a serious climb, you’ve got a great base to start your adventures.

Rowrah is home to a very popular go karting track, ¾ mile, one of the best in the UK if you want an adrenaline boost. You’ve also got good access to a number of coastal towns including Whitehaven, 7 miles, with good restaurants, a popular harbour and good shopping. You’re less than 10 miles from St Bees Head Heritage Coast, offering excellent coastal walks and golden sandy beaches. Of course if you’re looking for a traditional Cumbrian market town, you’ll love Cockermouth, 9 miles, with an abundance of speciality shops, coffee houses, restaurants and attractions. Visit Wordsworth House for a spot of culture, or maybe Jennings Brewery beneath the castle walls, offering tasting tours. Kirkgate Arts provides a cinema and theatre performances. Close to Coniston Water and at the southern end of the Lake District National Park, Souterstead, standing detached, offers all the space and comforts your party would need for their stay. With underfloor heated slate flooring, the bespoke kitchen, the sumptuous beds, or just relaxing in the living room with the wood burner, you will not want your break to end! French doors in the living room overlook open countryside and lead onto the garden.

The nearby Lakeland villages of Coniston and Hawkshead are idyllic and have an abundance of shops and cafés to discover, and for the more adventurous, why not take to the treetop challenge of Grizedale Forest, or venture along the many paths by foot or by bike? Coniston Old Man is always a favourite to climb, yet there are many more walks for all, including your four-legged friends. You will also find and there are two dog friendly pubs within ½ mile.
For a little bit of Victorian elegance, why not have a trip out on the steam yacht gondola that sails on Coniston Water from March to November, or take to the water yourself for a real Swallows and Amazons adventure! Larchwood, a detached timber lodge, is situated on the edge of a forest, with the towering larches and unspoilt woodland offering a haven for wildlife, including red squirrels, hares, roe deer and many species of birds. Angerton Cottage is a delightful country cottage set in beautiful countryside yet close to the many and varied attractions the area has to offer. Refurbished in 2021 Angerton Cottage is lovingly decorated and furnished throughout, a particularly favourite room at Angerton Cottage is the living room with patio doors opening onto the garden where you can sit and enjoy the wildlife. In the winter the cosy wood burner in the living room is a joy.

With three comfortable bedrooms, a lovely kitchen and separate dining room it’s the perfect cottage for a family get together at any time of year and of course your four-legged friend is well catered for in the large, enclosed garden. From Angerton Cottage you can walk or cycle along quiet country lanes or jump in the car and you are in the heart of the Lake District National Park within half an hour where you can enjoy more strenuous hikes or just take in the delights of the lakes and mountains and the lovely towns like Keswick and Windermere.

Angerton Cottage is situated close to the border City of Carlisle, where you can visit a range of attractions including Tullie House and the impressive cathedral and Castle. A short drive will take you to the ruins of the famous Hadrian’s Wall, or why not take a drive over the border to the beautiful beaches of Dumfries and Galloway.

Conn Cottage has recently been fully renovated in 2021, this cottage is full of character and has a peaceful location with lovely view over the stream next door that used to power the neighbouring corn mill, built from Lakeland stone. It has been attractively modernised, furnished and fitted to a high standard, with every modern convenience, making it a real home from home. The kitchen/dining room is finished to a high standard with fully integrated appliances, soft close cupboards and drawers with patio doors opening out onto the rear garden with outside seating and hot tub.
Conn Cottage is situated in the attractive hamlet of Bampton, in the Lowther Valley. This is a tranquil, unspoilt and beautiful area of the Lake District. This amazing area is perfect for getting away from it all and for seeing wildlife like red squirrels, deer and buzzards. However, the location is still also convenient for accessing not only other parts of the Lake District, but also the Yorkshire Dales, Teesdale and Hadrian’s Wall. Bampton has a village store/post office with tearoom, children’s playground and there is a lovely pub a gentle stroll away in the neighbouring hamlet of Bampton Grange. There are other excellent pubs serving food a short drive away in Askham, Tirril and Shap, as well as the hotel at Haweswater.
The nearest lakes are Haweswater and Ullswater. The area is perfect for walking and cycling with its quiet scenic roads and there is plenty of good walking from the doorstep, including on the surrounding fells leading over to Ullswater. Popular fells such as Hallin Fell and Place Fell and Mardale Head are nearby. There are lots of nearby attractions and activities including cycle hire, horse riding, Dalemain House and gardens, Aira Force, Ullswater Steamers and other water sports. The nearest town to Bampton is Penrith which is 7 miles away and the M6 is just a 10-minute drive for easy access.
