This holiday cottage is spacious, yet intimate, and commands beautiful views of the countryside surrounding the peaceful village of Sheldon, only 3 miles from the market town of Bakewell. The oldest part of the cottage dates from 1800 and has been converted skilfully into a living room with tasteful furnishings, original beams, exposed stone walls and a large fireplace with a multi-fuel burner. There is a large dining area adjacent to the living room and a kitchen which leads into a south-facing conservatory, ideal for breakfast and relaxing. There is a downstairs toilet and utility area. Upstairs has three large double bedrooms (two with en-suite showers) and a bathroom. One of the bedrooms has a 6ft zip and link bed which can be used as a double bed or two single beds. The cottage has Sky TV and wi-fi internet access. Only a few steps from the main cottage is a games room and studio apartment. The large, heated games room has a pool table and table tennis table as well as a drying room for wet clothes and boots. Above the games room is the studio with sitting room and a double bedroom with en-suite. The sitting room has a sofa bed (for alternative sleeping only) and a TV. The cottage stands in an enclosed garden which has driveway parking for four vehicles, flower beds and two lawns. The larger lawn overlooks the nearby fields and hills, and is ideal for ball games. It adjoins a stone-flagged patio area with a built-in barbecue and outside table and chairs. Sheldon has a pub close to the cottage which is friendly and provides good food. The village is within easy reach of Bakewell and Ashford-on-the-Water, and is an excellent starting point for walking, exploring the countryside and visiting Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, The Heights of Abraham in Matlock Bath, the caves around Castleton and many other attractions in the Peak District. Woodside View is in the picturesque village of Longnor which is in the heart of the Peak District.
Sleeping up to seven guests in three bedrooms, the master having an en-suite. With an open fire in the living room, south facing garden and patio area with outdoor seating to enjoy the views. There is a local pub within a mile which serves real ale and good food. There is a well-stocked licensed general store, a post office which sells wonderful breads and preserves. Longnor has a fish and chip shop and a small, but delightful childrens park Woodside View is a haven for walkers and cyclists to explore the Tissington and High Peak cycle tracks.
Nearby is Buxton with its eventful Opera House, the Crescent Hotel which was recently opened boasting a 5-star spa and the pavilion Gardens, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both within easy reach, along with numerous National Trust Properties, Parks and Gardens, and delightful historic market towns and villages.

Situated in the High Peak on the border of The Peak District National Park, this stylish semi-detached holiday property offers traditional living. Ideally located for adventurous outdoor pursuits both the Dark Peaks and the White Peaks are within easy reach. For the more sedate it is just a short walk of ½ mile to the famous Buxworth Basin, or take a stroll along the tow path of the canal to the village of Whaley Bridge, about 1 mile. A keen walker may want to walk to Edale and catch the train back to Chinley station only 2 miles away or perhaps take the train to Manchester and take in a museum, show, art gallery or just shop. Chatsworth House, the spa town of Buxton and Castleton caves are all within easy reach and make great days out. Shops 1 mile, restaurant 2 miles and pubs ½ mile.

Located in the thriving village of Tideswell, in the heart of the Peak District National Park, Acorn Cottage is a spacious, end-terraced property in an elevated position. Famous for its magnificent, 14th-century church, known as ’The Cathedral of the Peak’, Tideswell is a large village set in the midst of glorious countryside. With its dog friendly reputation, it makes an excellent base with traditional pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, delicatessens, butchers, and even a local supermarket. Throughout the year events are held such as the Tideswell Food Festival in May, and Well Dressings and Wakes Week in late June to early July.

There are some stunning walks through Tideswell Dale, where there is a nature reserve that leads out onto the Monsal Trail, a popular Peak District walking and cycling trail. The Limestone Way also passes through, and with it heading south can take you all the way to Rocester on the Staffordshire border, or north to the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton and Mam Tor, which is around 7 miles away. The ever popular market town of Bakewell is home to the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall, and can be reached in around 15 minutes, as can Buxton with its Pavilion Gardens and Opera House. For those thrill seekers, Matlock and its stunning cable car ride can be reached in around 30 minutes, and the UK’s biggest amusement park, Alton Towers, is around 45 minutes. Shop and restaurant 350 yards, pub ½ mile.

Or why not stretch your legs and take a walk in the picturesque parkland or peaceful gardens?
A little further away you will find the delights of the Peak District National Park, including Chatsworth House and the wonderful town of Matlock, as well as some stunning countryside to explore. The historic market town of Chesterfield, which acts as the ‘gateway to the Peak District National Park’, is found only a few miles away. Chesterfield is well-known for its 14th-century church with its famous crooked spire. Also popular with visitors is the semi-rural 17th-century mansion, Bolsover Castle, steeped in history and set high on a wooded hilltop looking west towards the heights of the beautiful Peak District.
In nearby Nottinghamshire you can visit Nottingham Castle or Sherwood Forest to go on a Robin Hood treasure hunt! Close by, the small village of Teversal offers a visitor centre and great access to the Teversal and Pleasley Trails, perfect for enjoying a variety of walks and cycle paths. The pretty villages of Ashford in the Water, Litton, and Great and Little Longstone are within a 5-10 minute drive, as is the ever popular market town of Bakewell meaning an ample supply of local pubs, eateries, shops and attractions. Walks are available straight from the door including a path at Wardlow Hay Cop known as ’The Pingle’ which takes you to Cressbrook Dale, where in late spring orchids and cowslips bloom. The magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall can both be reached in around 20 minutes, and the towns of Buxton, Ashbourne and Matlock in around half an hour. The small, rural village of Tansley is peacefully situated in the Derbyshire Dales, just 2 miles from Matlock and is home to two welcoming pubs and several colourful garden centres. The county town of Matlock is just 2 miles away and was popular from 1698 until 1950 for its warm springs that provided water therapy to travellers from near and far. Today the town provides a host of fine eateries, good shops, a fascinating museum and at the heart of the town, Leys Hall Park provides a lovely setting for a host of recreational activities including bowls, mini golf, tennis, boating and a children’s play area.
Enjoy a thrilling day at Gulliver’s Kingdom with its owl maze, water gardens, nature trails, exhilarating rides, and cable car trips over the magnificent Matlock Gorge. The nearby High Peak Cycle Trail provides a wonderful experience, whilst the market town of Bakewell, Chatsworth House and Park and Haddon Hall are within easy reach. Relatively steep stairs rise to the second floor with a landing providing access to two further bedrooms, one of which is super kingsize with a dual aspect, and far-reaching views which include the River Wye as it meanders through the town.

Outside, the property is approached via a driveway, providing access to a large, gravelled parking area with space for four cars and space to turn. Rock Mews is located just a short walk up from Bakewell town centre, within easy reach of shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. There are magnificent views across the market town of Bakewell from all areas of the garden, and Rock Mews provides the perfect base within this popular Peak District town. From the town you can get onto the Monsal Trail, which is great for cycling as well as walking. If you haven’t got any bikes, bike hiring is available on the trail at Hassop café. Neighbouring towns such as Buxton and Matlock are lovely places to visit and explore, both offering their own independent characters, and of course not to be missed are nearby Chatsworth House and Gardens and Haddon Hall, both within 5 minutes’ drive of Bakewell.

Bradley Hall, built in 1774, has retained many of its original features including fireplaces, flagstone and wooden floors, mullion windows and shutters. The ground floor comprises a kitchen/pantry with a gas range cooker and the dining room has a dining table to seat eight comfortably. A south-facing garden completes this lovely historic property, and also makes the ideal place for relaxing with a glass of wine or al-fresco dining in the warm, balmy summer evenings, since there also an outdoor table seating eight guests where you can dine in style. There is also a decked area complete with 8-seater hot tub and fire pit/pizza oven.
The village is ringed by rocks and tors and is set in one the of the most stunning parts of the Peak District, with two excellent pubs. Fantastic walking can be found from the doorstep and for nature lovers, there are great spots for birdwatching in the surrounding areas. For days out, the magnificent stately homes, including the beautiful Chatsworth House (8 miles) and Haddon Hall (4 miles) are an absolute must see, whilst a little further afield, but well worth a visit is Hardwick Hall (National Trust). For water sport enthusiasts, Carsington Water is within easy reach, with sailing, wind-surfing and canoeing all available.
