Nestling in the grounds of a large farmhouse in a rural position, this delightful single storey barn conversion has been skilfully renovated retaining exposed beams and trusses. The holiday property has an advantage of catering for large parties with a connecting door to the adjacent property (W7922) increasing the accommodation to 28, which makes it ideal for a large family get together. It has shared facilities with a floodlit all weather surface tennis court (equipment not provided), a small pool table and if desired, a catering service (arranged direct with the owner). This perfect location is on the edge of the tiny village of Somersal Herbert, approximately 9 miles south of the popular Derbyshire market town of Ashbourne and convenient for visiting The Potteries and Alton Towers, one of the largest theme parks in the country. Enjoy Derwent Crystal Factory at Shawcroft, the Antiques and Collectors Centre at Bakewell, the ’Heights of Abraham’ cable car rides and caves at Matlock Bath. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

A simply fascinating base, located within yards from quaint local and independently run shops, tea rooms and the famous village pub, which is reputed to be one of the most haunted buildings in Derbyshire. The surrounding area offers inspiring and varied scenery, with walking and cycling in the beautiful Hope Valley countryside, and stunning views across the Derwent Valley. Family attractions within easy reach such as the magnificent historic houses of Eyam Hall, located in the centre of the village, Chatsworth Estate, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle. The bustling market town of Bakewell, famous for its tarts and puddings, and the ever popular spa town of Buxton with its opera house and diverse architecture can be reached within 30 minutes. Matlock Bath, also known as ’Little Switzerland’, with its cable car rides and other family attractions nearby. For those seeking an adrenalin rush, Alton Towers can be reached within an hour. Other local villages include Tideswell, with its remarkable church known as the ‘Cathedral of the Peak’, and Hathersage, home to one of the few remaining open air swimming pools, and famous for its associations with both Robin Hood and the Eyre family. Grindleford and Hathersage have train links to both Sheffield and Manchester city centre, and Eyam is well served with regular bus services from Sheffield, Buxton and Chesterfield. The village of Bradwell is set in the hills of the Peak District National Park and the cottage is located on the side of a steep hillside. Perfectly placed for a holiday exploring the Peak District. The spa town of Buxton, the market town of Bakewell and the Chatsworth stately home are all within 10 miles. Excellent walking and riding terrain locally. Hang-gliding, rock climbing, fishing and caving are also available throughout the area. Golf 4 miles. Shop 200 yards, pub 100 yards.

This delightful cottage can be found on the edge of the Peak District in the picturesque village of Cutthorpe, down a private country lane on the owner’s non-working farm of 2 acres. Green Farm is surrounded by fields, woodland, footpaths and bridleways with direct access to the Linacre Reservoirs and Holmebrook Country Park. Tawny Owl Barn is a beautifully converted stone barn, situated over two floors, retaining many original features. The ground floor lays claim to a cosy living room complete with a warming wood burner, leather sofas, exposed stone walls and wooden beams. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen/dining room, a great social space with a large dining table so you can have a home cooked meal with all the family, as well as a single bedroom with an oak sliding barn door. Head upstairs where you will find two en-suite bedrooms with varnished, natural wooden floors, one with a double bed and one with twin beds. Double glazed and centrally heated throughout, this barn is perfect for families and groups all year round.
Outside, there is a fully enclosed private garden with a patio table and chairs, a barbeque and views over open countryside. There is a gate giving access to the fully enclosed hot tub (which is available all year for an additional charge, payable locally). This also includes the supply of additional towels and dressing gowns. We have a one acre paddock to exercise your dog in. Up to two well behaved dogs.
Cutthorpe has two pubs within walking distance that are dog friendly and serve food. It has a pretty village green and benefits from panoramic views over Chesterfield with its famous crooked spire. The village is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, yet is only 3 miles from The popular market town of Chesterfield. Its perfect location allows you to explore historic houses, walking, cycling and visiting the tourist towns of Bakewell, Matlock, Castleton, Buxton, Eyam and Hathersage. If its stately homes, castles and gardens you would like to visit, the magnificent Chatsworth House is only 10 minutes drive away; the grounds and house will provide a full day out. Within 30 minutes you can also visit Packwood house, Bolsover castle, Renishaw hall, Haddon hall and Hardwick hall.

For those that are more active, there are numerous options varying from local walks from your door, to more adventurous walks in the Peak District. Cyclists are also well catered for with a variety of road and off road tracks and trails. Additionally there is shooting, canoeing, horse riding, go ape, abseiling, climbing, fishing and golf all available nearby. Alternatively you can just relax and enjoy the tranquillity that Green Farm offers. The nearest shop is 2 miles, café 1½ miles, post office, doctors are all available locally.

The owner has ensured the property is supplied with everything you need for a great holiday and supplies lots of local information and endeavours to make your stay a special one.
This is an ideal base from which to enjoy the splendid walking in the hills or relaxing in the garden with friends. All rooms are bathed in natural light and look onto fields and hills and there are enclosed gardens to front and rear.

Originally a much loved home rather than a holiday let, Silk Hill Stables still retains its homely ambiance with many original features and great attention to detail. This spacious one bedroom stable conversion is on a working livery and offers comfortable accommodation in scenic rural surroundings on the edge of the Peak District National Park. From the owner’s gate the famous Kinder Scout can be seen and there are many picturesque walks direct from the doorstep. For those with four-legged travelling companions a dog hatch leads from the kitchen into the completely enclosed patio area, with seating and barbecue which is great for the long summer nights. You’ll find lots of useful doggy extras, and as an added bonus by prior arrangement with the owner there is even an outdoor area on site where you can let your dogs have a run around stress free. A short walk will take you into the small friendly town of Whaley Bridge where you’ll find food serving pubs, some dog friendly, cafés and restaurants. 5 minutes the other way is the famous Buxwoth Basin and pub. There is a train station in Whaley Bridge with direct services to both Manchester and Buxton. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub ¼ mile.

This superb self-contained annexe is quietly attached to the owner’s home. Nestled in the sleepy village of Cutthorpe, in the heart of Derbyshire, you can explore the Peak District National Park within a few minutes drive. With open countryside views to the front and beautiful fields to the rear, Cutthorpe village is semi-rural and home to the fabulous Linacre Reservoirs, which are surrounded by fields and bluebell woods which provide many walking trails for all abilities. Cutthorpe benefits from three local pubs, each of which serve food, and there is a whole host of attractions within easy travelling distance. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle can all be reached in less than 30 minutes, as can the towns of Bakewell, Buxton, Matlock, Chesterfield and even the city of Sheffield. For the energetic, Carsington Water has cycling routes and sailing available, and can be reached in around 45 minutes. For those bigger thrills, Alton Towers can be reached in around an hour. Impressive caverns in nearby Castleton and Little John’s Grave in Hathersage are also well worth a visit. There is plenty to do for walkers and cyclists, with the Monsal Trail on the doorstep. The large inviting living room can be found on the ground floor, as well as the well-equipped kitchen with all you need to cook up a tasty family meal. The property also benefits from having its own games room, complete with a pool table and 7 foot table tennis top which can be placed on top of the pool table to convert it into table tennis, perfect for children and adults alike. Outside there is a large patio with garden furniture, ideal for dining al fresco.

Bakewell is a popular market town in the heart of Derbyshire, offering a wide selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, and even a local farmers market where you can buy locally sourced produce. Chatsworth House and Estate and Haddon Hall can both be found nearby, and make a wonderful day for everyone to enjoy. The Monsal Trail is also close by and is ideal for walking, cycling and horse riding, and starts in Bakewell and will take you to the outskirts of Buxton.
