This delightful cottage can be found on the edge of the Peak District in the picturesque village of Cutthorpe, down a private country lane on the owner’s non-working farm of 2 acres. Green Farm is surrounded by fields, woodland, footpaths and bridleways with direct access to the Linacre Reservoirs and Holmebrook Country Park. Tawny Owl Barn is a beautifully converted stone barn, situated over two floors, retaining many original features. The ground floor lays claim to a cosy living room complete with a warming wood burner, leather sofas, exposed stone walls and wooden beams. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen/dining room, a great social space with a large dining table so you can have a home cooked meal with all the family, as well as a single bedroom with an oak sliding barn door. Head upstairs where you will find two en-suite bedrooms with varnished, natural wooden floors, one with a double bed and one with twin beds. Double glazed and centrally heated throughout, this barn is perfect for families and groups all year round.
Outside, there is a fully enclosed private garden with a patio table and chairs, a barbeque and views over open countryside. There is a gate giving access to the fully enclosed hot tub (which is available all year for an additional charge, payable locally). This also includes the supply of additional towels and dressing gowns. We have a one acre paddock to exercise your dog in. Up to two well behaved dogs.
Cutthorpe has two pubs within walking distance that are dog friendly and serve food. It has a pretty village green and benefits from panoramic views over Chesterfield with its famous crooked spire. The village is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, yet is only 3 miles from The popular market town of Chesterfield. Its perfect location allows you to explore historic houses, walking, cycling and visiting the tourist towns of Bakewell, Matlock, Castleton, Buxton, Eyam and Hathersage. If its stately homes, castles and gardens you would like to visit, the magnificent Chatsworth House is only 10 minutes drive away; the grounds and house will provide a full day out. Within 30 minutes you can also visit Packwood house, Bolsover castle, Renishaw hall, Haddon hall and Hardwick hall.

For those that are more active, there are numerous options varying from local walks from your door, to more adventurous walks in the Peak District. Cyclists are also well catered for with a variety of road and off road tracks and trails. Additionally there is shooting, canoeing, horse riding, go ape, abseiling, climbing, fishing and golf all available nearby. Alternatively you can just relax and enjoy the tranquillity that Green Farm offers. The nearest shop is 2 miles, café 1½ miles, post office, doctors are all available locally.

The ever popular market town of Bakewell, home to Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, is around a 30-minute drive, as are the beautiful village of Edale and Castleton. A perfect, romantic retreat, this cottage provides a magnificent base from which you can do as much or as little as you like. Shop and restaurant 2¼ miles, pub ½ mile.

Situated along a track, Boundary Cottage nestles on the edge of the rolling countryside in this stunning rural location.

This homely retreat is perfect for couples or families seeking a fun-filled getaway with a vast array of activities on offer within the surrounding area, or for wonderful walks with your four-legged friends to explore the delights of the countryside directly from the doorstep. Open the glass double doors into the well-equipped kitchen and then follow the hallway into the large dining area with a picturesque window overlooking the field beyond. At the end of the hallway you are greeted by the cosy living area with a large L-shaped sofa, perfect for cosying up in front of the open fire and tuning into the TV.

The character of the cottage is continued upstairs into the large bedroom, where you will find a well-presented kingsize bed, and amazing views from a dual aspect window, a great place where you can look forward to unwinding with a good book in hand. If you can tear yourself away from this idyllic base, a short walk will bring you to a local pub serving food, whilst the nearby town of Chesterfield offers a larger selection of pubs and good restaurants.

The historic market town of Chesterfield acts as the gateway to the Peak District, and has much to offer visitors. The town is famous for its 14th-century church with its crooked spire twisting curiously from its centre, while the town offers guests the opportunity to explore the market and many of the specialist shops dotted in and out of the shambles. The town also boasts Queens Park, with its lake, walks and summer bandstand, as well as a museum and theatre. Close by you will find the impressive Elizabethan Hardwick Hall, with its six grand towers elaborately monogramed with Bess of Hardwick’s initials, overlooking the superb gardens and walled courtyards of the grounds. Also popular with visitors is the semi-ruined 17th-century mansion of Bolsover Castle, set high on a wooded hilltop, looking west towards the heights of the Peak District.

Within easy reach you will discover attractions such as Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, Matlock and Bakewell, or the opera house at Buxton. Matlock Bath is a well known resort on the River Derwent. Visit the popular Heights of Abraham cable cars, enjoy fish and chips, and numerous entertainments throughout the year. The Matlock Bath illuminations and firework display are especially popular in autumn bringing in the crowds and lighting up the sky. A little further afield, Chatsworth House and Bakewell provide a wonderful day out, exploring the local businesses that line the streets. The location and property really are second to none and the perfect place for a break at any time of the year.

Heathcote Hayloft, this is the first-floor apartment on Heathcote Grange, it offers a large open plan kitchen/diner, with everything you should need to enjoy your stay, there is a generously sized living room with comfy seating, Smart TV, and a double sofa bed for additional sleeping. The apartment has two double bedrooms, both with en-suites. There is also a balcony with a private hot tub.

Carr View (Ref UK36953) is one of two holiday properties finished to an extremely high standard and the owner takes great pride in ensuring you have the perfect stay. On the ground floor you will enter into the boot room, which has a neatly placed washing machine in a cupboard, kick your boots off and enter into the beautifully designed open plan kitchen which has all you need to enjoy your self-catering holiday with the dining room which has ample seating for six guests made up of chairs and a bench. The living room is very cosy with comfy sofas and an electric wood burner to bring a wonderful sense of relaxation to the room. Upstairs are three bedrooms, all with zip and link beds that can be made into twins on request, the master bedroom has a slightly larger bed and an en-suite. The family bathroom carries the same quality as the rest of the house and has been done beautifully, with walk in shower and bath.
Outside is a garden with a patio area and lawn, perfect to watch the sun rise and set. There is also a river running through the site, and a lake giving the opportunity for some cold water wild swimming!
The helpful owners, that live on-site, are on hand should you need anything, and provide luxury towels, complimentary toiletries, a welcome pack and even a Christmas tree for holidays throughout December.
There are electric car charging points just 5 minutes away in The Anglers Rest pub car park, and just 10 minutes away in the Hope village car park.
The location of this property offers seclusion with many fantastic countryside walks from the doorstep and a National Cycle Route nearby, so you wouldn’t really need to take the car. Or alternatively, a short drive into Castleton to visit the caves or venture into nearby towns of Bakewell and Buxton. Absorb the life of a working farm in the Peak District by visiting the cows, watching the lambs play and the chickens from the dining room window. White Heather Barn has lovely views of the surrounding countryside from the front of the property and benefits from lots of lovely walks straight from the front doorstep. It makes a fine base for touring the Peak District – lying in an area offering a wealth of attractions for visitors. For those with a penchant for shopping, the Amber Valley Individual Factory Shops Trail is a must and includes a retail outlet, Denby Potteries and Royal Crown Derby. There are farmers’ and regular weekly markets in many of the nearby towns including Bakewell and Ashbourne. Alton Towers, Britain’s premier theme park, is close by. Younger children will also enjoy Gulliver’s Kingdom at nearby Matlock. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy the excellent facilities at Carsington Water, whilst Shipley Country Park has miles of meandering footpaths and bridleways. At the Midland Railway Centre, transport enthusiasts can take in the nostalgia of the age of steam and travel through countryside for 7 miles. Meanwhile the National Tramway Museum at Crich offers a family day out in a relaxing atmosphere of a bygone era, and the Midland Railway Centre is within walking distance.
Stately homes gracing the area include Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall (a fine medieval manor house) and Hardwick Hall and Kedleston Hall (a fine example of the architecture of Robert Adam). All in all a fantastic base to explore this wonderful area.

Squirrel Cottage has been renovated in 2023, to a tasteful and modern standard. As you arrive and step into the open plan living space, you will find a beautiful island (with built-in hob) in the centre of the room, which also provides dining space for up to four guests to sit comfortably. The kitchen has all the appliances you should need to cook up a storm if you wish to do so! The living area has comfortable seating with a large, wall-mounted, Smart TV and to finish the room off nicely; bi-fold doors lead out into the garden, which can be left open on days that allow.
Upstairs is the master bedroom with a kingsize bed, which has the addition of a galleried snug area with TV and bean bags to give you a little quiet corner to enjoy, and also an en-suite with freestanding bath (please be careful on the laddered steps to get to this area). The second bedroom is a king which can be split into two singles if required, and has wardrobe space. Outside is a great size garden, which has a lawned area to the right as well as a patio directly outside the bi-fold doors. You can sit on the garden furniture and watch the squirrels!
Squirrel Cottage is located in close proximity to the town centre of Glossop, just a short walk away from all it has to offer, including coffee shops, pubs and restaurants as well as supermarkets and shops. Manor park and gardens are also just around the corner. There is a variety of walks surrounding Glossop, such as, a car-free Longendale Trail which has beautiful scenery to take in while you enjoy your walk or cycle, plus you are only a 30-minute drive from Edale, Castleton or the spa town of Buxton, all offering further fantastic walking routes which are picturesque.
