Popular with walkers, there is an abundance of walks available straight from the door, including around Combs Reservoir, which is a mere 5 minutes from the property. Across the road is a good, traditional pub serving food, and both Chapel-en-le-Frith and nearby Whaley Bridge, 3 miles, provide ample local amenities. The Chestnut Centre Otter, Owl & Wildlife Park is just 10 minutes from the property, and the beautiful ever popular village of Castleton, home to the Blue John Cavern, is around 15 minutes. The spa town of Buxton, famous for its spring water, Pavillion Gardens and Victorian Opera House can be reached in around 20 minutes, and finally Bakewell, home to the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall, is around half an hour. Many surrounding pretty Peak District villages and towns such as the historic plague village of Eyam, Bakewell famous for its pudding, and the spa town of Buxton can all be reached in around a 15 minute drive, as can the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and medieval Haddon Hall. There is climbing available at the ever popular Stanage Edge, which is around 30 minutes away, and watersports at the beautiful Carsington Water, which can be reached in around 45 minutes. Finally, for those thrill seekers, you can take a cable car ride from Matlock Bath and visit The Heights of Abraham, 30 minutes, or UK’s premier theme park Alton Towers, 45 minutes. Golf nearby. The Peak Village factory outlet and Caudwell’s Mill, with cafe and craft centre, are both within easy reach of the cottage. Places of interest further afield include Crich Tramway Village, Manifold Valley, Castleton, Dovedale and Buxton. Activities available locally include cycling and fishing. Take a tour by boat through these caves and learn about the history of the people and how they mined them. Matlock Bath and Alton Towers make great days out for families. There are plenty of activities to enjoy locally including inhouse clay pigeon shooting lessons (at cost, by arrangement with owner) and there is also golf and horse riding located within 5 miles of the property.
