Oaklands is a luxurious and spacious holiday home set in its own acre of ground, with three beautiful bedrooms, two bathrooms and an open plan kitchen, dining and living area all on the same level. Perfect for a family or a group of friends to relax and get away from it all with plenty of opportunities to spot the neighbouring wildlife in the surrounding fields. The doorways are wide enough for wheelchairs and ramps can be provided over the doorways if requested, however please note the property hasn’t been specifically set-up for wheelchair users so the kitchen and bathrooms may not be suitable The accommodation feels bright and welcoming with high beamed ceilings, underfloor heating throughout and plenty of large windows, patio doors and sliding doors seamlessly blending the living spaces with the outdoor landscape. Guests will love the rural tranquil location with plenty of wildlife, starry skies, distant views of Dartmoor and beautiful scenery that this perfect get away can offer.
The large kitchen is fully equipped with a farmhouse cooker with two ovens and an induction hob, a fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine, dishwasher and a washing machine. After a fun-filled day exploring Devon, gather your friends and family around the large dining table for a celebratory homecooked meal and relax on the comfortable sofas and armchairs or sit outside with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down.
There are three comfortably furnished bedrooms. The master has a kingsize bed, an en-suite shower room and patio doors opening out onto the beautiful decked area. The second bedroom has a kingsize bed and the third has twin beds. The family bathroom is fitted with a bath, shower cubicle, heated towel rail, toilet, wash basin, and a mirror with a shaver socket.
Sit outside and enjoy the peace of the garden with its decked area, large enclosed garden with scenic views and plenty of outdoor seating. There’s surely no more relaxing way to spend a sunny afternoon? A lockable bike and surfboard storage is available on request too. Or enjoy walks on the public footpath from Oaklands to the local village, Stockleigh Pomeroy, or Cheriton Fitzpaine, explore the surrounding countryside or just relax and enjoy the views. Stockleigh Pomeroy is 4 miles from Crediton, 8 miles from Tiverton and 8 miles from the historic cathedral city of Exeter.
The award-winning North Devon coastline is within an hour’s drive with its golden sandy surfing beaches and the Jurassic South Devon coastal beauty spots are within a 45-minute drive. The breathtaking scenery of the National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor filled with hidden gems and places to explore are within a 40-minute drive. A wealth of attractions are within easy reach including Thornes Farm Shop which is 440 yards away and famous for its strawberries with a variety of pick your own with shop and restaurant. The nearest award winning pub is just over a mile away, and within a 10-minute drive you have Bickleigh Mill, Devon Railway Centre and Bickleigh Castle. A bit further afield you have The Grand Western Canal and Cycle Route, the Royal Albert Museum in Exeter, and the National Trust’s Knightshayes, Killerton, and Castle Drogo, as well as RHS Rosemoor and Crealy Adventure Park, to name just a few. The sitting room gives the option of an extra two day beds if needed, and has another TV and table football to keep everyone entertained. The sitting room opens onto a secluded, sunny patio and garden with delightful country views, the perfect spot to enjoy an evening BBQ while you plan your next day out.
The property is well placed for exploring both Devon and Cornwall. Halwill Junction is just 1-mile away with a popular village inn, post office, shop and fish and chip shop. Holsworthy, 9 miles away, has a good selection of local shops and supermarkets along with a leisure centre and weekly market. The market towns of Launceston and Okehampton are only a short drive away and there are several good local pubs and restaurants close by to have a break from the cooking. Roadford Reservoir is just 15 minutes away where you can enjoy sailing and walking and where there is a lovely waterside café. Dingles Heritage Fairground is 10 miles and is a great day out whatever the weather. The wide golden sands of Bude and Widemouth Bay are 17 miles, with excellent surfing, pretty coves and dramatic coastal walks, along with shopping and leisure facilities, including 10-pin bowling, a wave pool, restaurants, bars and coffee shops.
With nature reserves and woodland close by the area is great for dog walkers. Fishing, riding, watersports and golf are all on offer close by and Dartmoor National Park is a must for nature lovers. RHS Rosemoor is a haven for gardeners and golfers can enjoy three well-groomed courses. If you want to explore further afield, the pretty fishing villages of Port Isaac, Tintagel, Padstow and Clovelly are close by. Beach 17 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Located within the Dartmoor National Park, within easy reach of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and just 4 miles from the Drakes Trail cycle path which links Plymouth to Tavistock, this stunning area is ideally suited for visitors who enjoy cycling and walking. The ancient stannary and market town of Tavistock is 6¾ miles away with it’s famous pannier market and an array of independent shops. Beach 17¼ miles. Shop 1¼ miles, pub and restaurant 150 yards.

Orchard Barn is a luxurious and spacious three-bedroom barn conversion just outside the small village of South Tawton. Set on a working farm close to Dartmoor National Park, it has been lovingly renovated by the owners in 2021 and lies in a rural setting.

Standing detached, it greets guests with a delicious welcome pack of thoughtfully provided fresh local produce. The owners can supply award winning meat (105 awards) for your stay and their neighbour can supply you with quiches, scones, so you can have a night free from cooking.
The open plan living space includes a well-equipped kitchen and a lovely dining and living area with a wood burner for the cooler months and air conditioning for the summer. The kitchen has a beautiful island worktop with a couple of stools, the perfect spot to plan your day over a morning coffee, and later you can gather round the striking oak dining table for a celebratory meal. The spacious living area combines traditional features of the barn with contemporary touches, and heading upstairs you will find three comfortable bedrooms, each with a super kingsize bed (two of the zip and link bedrooms can be split to accommodate four children in one bedroom if required), two with an en-suite shower room, and the other bedroom has use of the family bathroom featuring a luxurious roll-top bath.

Sit outside and enjoy peace in the garden beside the apple orchard, with its outdoor seating, picnic benches and barbecue with complimentary pack of charcoal. There is also an outside dog shower with hot and cold water. The external games room is a great additional space, featuring a table tennis, pool table, space to store bicycles and surfboards, a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

Set on the north eastern edge of the stunning Dartmoor National Park with walks and cycle paths from your doorstep, you can easily explore the beautiful surrounding countryside and discover the local wildlife, including the iconic Dartmoor ponies. Okehampton is a short distance way and has a good selection of shops, amenities and castle, or walk along the Tarka Trail and the old railway to Meldon reservoir. National Trust Castle Drogo is also nearby for a visit, and Devon’s bustling resorts and beautiful beaches are just a short drive away, including Teignmouth, Dawlish and Exmouth (reached in 40 minutes).
