The Cider Barn is a luxurious and spacious three-bedroom holiday home with a hot tub, two bathrooms and a large private garden set in the heart of Devon. Originally a 17th-century farmstead, the accommodation has been refurbished to a high standard for up to six guests to enjoy, and the property feels stylish and beautiful with its unique interiors. The barn is attached to the back of the owner’s farmhouse but guests will have private access with their own front door and driveway space, enough for up to four cars.
As you enter, you will be welcomed into the hallway area which has bench seating, a washer/dryer, and is perfect for hanging coats up and kicking off those wellies after a bracing walk in the countryside. The spacious living room is comfortably furnished with a large corner sofa, Smart TV with Freeview and a gas wood burner. One of the kingsize bedrooms is located on the ground floor and there is a handy shower room across the hallway.
Head upstairs to discover the other two kingsize bedrooms, one of which has zip and link beds and can be set up with twin beds if requested. The family bathroom is fitted with a shower over the bath, offering the choice of a relaxing soak or a refreshing shower. The elegant kitchen/diner is also located on the first floor, making the most of the beautiful views across the countryside. It is well equipped with all the key appliances and offers plenty of space to enjoy a meal together sat at the large dining table.
The secluded garden is a fantastic space to relax and unwind in with its lawn, seating area, charcoal barbeque and private wood-fired hot tub backing onto the surrounding fields. A pizza oven can be rented for a small fee and trout fishing is also available on request. There are two footpaths meandering through the owner’s land which can be accessed 100m from the front door of The Cider Barn, leading off into the fields or to the local pubs which serve the most delicious food.
The historic cathedral city of Exeter is 12 miles away with easy parking and a direct rail link from Crediton. The scenic national parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor are within a 40-minute drive away. Dartmoor is a vast moorland defined by forests, rivers, wetlands, and tors (rock formations). The South Devon ‘Jurassic’ coast is a 50-minute drive away while the rugged North Devon coast and surfing beaches are a 60-minute drive away. The Cider Barn is ideal for families and groups of friends looking for a peaceful, relaxing holiday.

Oaklands is a luxurious and spacious holiday home set in its own acre of ground, with three beautiful bedrooms, two bathrooms and an open plan kitchen, dining and living area all on the same level. Perfect for a family or a group of friends to relax and get away from it all with plenty of opportunities to spot the neighbouring wildlife in the surrounding fields. The doorways are wide enough for wheelchairs and ramps can be provided over the doorways if requested, however please note the property hasn’t been specifically set-up for wheelchair users so the kitchen and bathrooms may not be suitable The accommodation feels bright and welcoming with high beamed ceilings, underfloor heating throughout and plenty of large windows, patio doors and sliding doors seamlessly blending the living spaces with the outdoor landscape. Guests will love the rural tranquil location with plenty of wildlife, starry skies, distant views of Dartmoor and beautiful scenery that this perfect get away can offer.
The large kitchen is fully equipped with a farmhouse cooker with two ovens and an induction hob, a fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine, dishwasher and a washing machine. After a fun-filled day exploring Devon, gather your friends and family around the large dining table for a celebratory homecooked meal and relax on the comfortable sofas and armchairs or sit outside with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down.
There are three comfortably furnished bedrooms. The master has a kingsize bed, an en-suite shower room and patio doors opening out onto the beautiful decked area. The second bedroom has a kingsize bed and the third has twin beds. The family bathroom is fitted with a bath, shower cubicle, heated towel rail, toilet, wash basin, and a mirror with a shaver socket.

Or enjoy walks on the public footpath from Oaklands to the local village, Stockleigh Pomeroy, or Cheriton Fitzpaine, explore the surrounding countryside or just relax and enjoy the views. Stockleigh Pomeroy is 4 miles from Crediton, 8 miles from Tiverton and 8 miles from the historic cathedral city of Exeter.
The award-winning North Devon coastline is within an hour’s drive with its golden sandy surfing beaches and the Jurassic South Devon coastal beauty spots are within a 45-minute drive. The breathtaking scenery of the National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor filled with hidden gems and places to explore are within a 40-minute drive. A wealth of attractions are within easy reach including Thornes Farm Shop which is 440 yards away and famous for its strawberries with a variety of pick your own with shop and restaurant. The nearest award winning pub is just over a mile away, and within a 10-minute drive you have Bickleigh Mill, Devon Railway Centre and Bickleigh Castle. All of the properties have their own private garden and on balmy summer evenings, is the ideal spot to relax with the prossecco which the thoughtful owners will leave for your arrival. Most of the properties have a private hot tub, except Deer Park, so don’t forget your towels!

With these properties being located on a deer farm, red deer and amazing stags can be seen close up, and there are sometimes otters in the ponds. Although the ponds are unfenced, the properties gardens are fenced, so there is some barrier between the garden and ponds.

The village of Cadeleigh lies just 9 miles from Exeter, with its magnificent cathedral and many shops and canalside pubs. Tiverton is just 6 miles away, and Bickleigh Mill with its lovely river walks, small fun railway, shop and café, is nearby. Spend a day exploring tranquil moorland and winding rivers in the Exmoor National Park, as well as the breathtaking coastline full of secluded bays and spectacular cliffs. Exmoor is sprinkled with quaint villages, attractive towns and charming harbours. Enjoy a day out at Tiverton Canal, walk with the horse drawn canal boat or enjoy a boat trip. Wrens Perch offers fabulous views overlooking Brixham harbour and beyond to the sea. The property was renovated in 2018 to a good contemporary standard with stylish fittings, appliances, atmospheric lighting and quality soft furnishings throughout.

Downstairs the entrance hallway leads to a double bedroom with French doors that lead out to its own patio area at the front of the property. From the kitchen area there are patio doors which lead out onto the landscaped rear garden. Welcome to Barnyard, a wonderful barn conversion finished in 2023 to an exceptionally high standard both inside and out! Step through the gate into your fully enclosed garden area, with a large patio that has a fabulous seating area and is the perfect place to relax at any time of day, and tucked into the corner is your private hot tub with screening around to soak away your stresses while staring at the stars in the evening, or listening to the bird song during the day. Barnyard enjoys a southerly aspect making the most of the summer evenings and romantic sunsets.
Inside, Barnyard is perfect for families of all ages, with level access throughout. The property has been designed with the visually impaired in mind. The stunning open-plan lounge, kitchen, and diner has a gorgeous vaulted ceiling with oak beams and original statement lighting fixtures. The lounge has a large Smart TV, comfy sofas and large French doors and windows overlooking and with access to the patio and hot tub while the dining area has a table and chairs and leads to the extremely well-equipped kitchen, with its quartz worktops, range cooker and breakfast bar, it will be a delight to prepare a meal at any time of day! Off the entrance hall, you will find a large utility area and a separate toilet, along with a wine store/pantry that completes this area. Head down the hallway where you will find the office/games room and the bedrooms. The office comes well-equipped with desks, ethernet ports and screens for those of you who need to occasionally bring work with you (or for a working holiday!) You will also find a games console for kids of all ages to enjoy. The spacious master bedroom has a super kingsize bed, French doors to the garden and a large en-suite with a level walk-in shower. Bedroom two has twin beds which can zip together to be a super kingsize bed and a handy shower in the room, allowing everyone to be able to get ready at the same time! Bedroom three has a double bed, and the family bathroom has a bath with a shower over.
While Barnyard is completely private, located nearby to the owner, it is set on the their smallholding where they have sheep and chickens, a dedicated walkaround has been created for you to see the animals, however whenever you are outside of the garden please keep your four-legged family on a lead.
If you can tear yourself away from Barnyard, you are met with a plethora of things to do in the local area. The market town of Sherborne is close by with its mix of shops, cafés and restaurants as well as its castle (built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594) to explore. Dorchester is a short drive away as is the purpose-built village of Poundbury, commissioned by King Charles, it’s ideal for a wander around. Why not head over and see the Cerne Giant or explore the beach at the traditional seaside town of Weymouth? Ride the donkeys in the summer or have some traditional fish and chips!

TallTrees is a beautiful purpose built contemporary detached lodge that occupies a private part of the owner’s vast grounds with lovely far reaching views across the meadows. Guests of this site adore the beautiful location and especially the quietness and dark starry night skies that can be enjoyed from the decking and luxurious private hot tub. There are also plentiful grass areas to roam around in and a pleasant pond nearby.
Available to book with two other properties on-site, this lodge is extremely well appointed and spacious and the quality inside is not the norm expected from a holiday lodge. This is the perfect location for families or friends looking for a peaceful retreat for a holiday or celebrating a special occasion and the perfect spot for those looking to explore the wider surrounding area. Inside you’ll find three bedrooms, a king size and a bunk room on the ground floor, and a lovely gallery-style kingsize (but with a door and glazing) with en-suite shower room on the first floor that overlooks the open plan living areas downstairs. Close by are the Grand Western Canal and Country Park, offering boat trips and great walking and cycling. And there’s Knighthayes National Trust, just 3 miles away. Being conveniently located for the M5 motorway, the property is within easy reach by car of Exmoor’s seaside resorts, amazing Dartmoor National Park, the city of Exeter with its stunning cathedral and south coast towns. And via the A361 the famous North Devon coastal surfing beaches (some of the best in the UK) are all easily accessible too and just an hour or so away.

Fully renovated in late 2022, The Root House is a top quality Grade II listed thatched cottage. The property is located under a mile from the centre of Croyde, where you’ll find restaurants, quality pubs and ice cream parlours plus various boutiques and surf shops. The local sandy beach with its large dunes is renowned for its fabulous surfing qualities and is patrolled by lifeguards in the main season. About 3 miles away is Braunton, considered as the major hub of the immediate area with a good selection shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants, including one of the country’s best fish and chips restaurants! As the centre of the North Devon surf scene, Braunton is also home to the Museum of British Surfing and some great surfers’ shops.
The fabulous Saunton Sands is a great expanse of sandy beach (regularly used as a filming location for movies and videos) with exceptional sand dunes behind it, known as Braunton Burrows, the largest sand dune system in England. Walkers and runners love the dunes and it is also great for dogs. Saunton Golf Club is just 3½ miles away and the Tarka Trail which allows you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and river scenery is within easy reach too, and follows a disused railway line and is loved by cyclists, runners and walkers alike.
Further afield you can enjoy exploring more of North Devon and all its attractions such as Exmoor National Park, home of the first ‘Dark Sky Reserve’ in Europe, Valley of the Rocks, the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages such as Lynton and Lynmouth, Ilfracombe, Hartland and the world-famous Clovelly Village – all with awe-inspiring scenery. And there are plenty of family-oriented places to visit including Exmoor Zoo, Milky Way Adventure Park, The Big Sheep farm-themed park, Watermouth Castle family theme park and Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park plus many others. South Pusehill Cottage is a very well-presented holiday property with character features such as exposed beams and bespoke furniture and design. Although slightly rural with far reaching countryside views, the cottage is perfectly located for all the attractions and stunning scenery that North Devon has to offer, and is around 1½ miles away from the nearest beach at Westward Ho!, which is popular with surfers as well as sunbathers.
Westward Ho! offers an array of seaside amenities including some fascinating curiosity shops and a good range of restaurants and cafés, many of which are regularly visited by locals for their quality fayre. The beaches are a main attraction of this area for many, and the South West Coast Path also runs through the area. This is a must for keen runners and walkers! Swimming, surfing, canoeing, entertainment for all the family and fishing are all close by too. If golf is your thing, then you should visit the Royal North Devon Club which is nearby, it was founded in 1864 and is the oldest golf course in England!
The popular Tarka Trail can be accessed locally too, providing the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line by foot or by cycle allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and scenery while discovering the towns of Barnstaple and Bideford, where you can wander during the weekly pannier markets, with a host of local produce, quality cafés and crafts on offer. On your Tarka Trail journey be sure to visit the Fremington Quay Café for a tasty bite to eat and then the estuary-side village of Instow – where sunsets are a local treasure! And one place not to forget to visit is the world-famous village of Clovelly with its steep pedestrianised cobbled main street, traditional architecture, donkeys and views over the Bristol Channel. Be sure not to forget to visit Exmoor National Park with its magical night skies in Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’ and for a day with a difference take a trip across to Lundy Island, home to England’s first statutory Marine Nature Reserve due to its unique flora and fauna.

Oak and Ash are two lovely lower ground floor apartments which form part of the owner’s overall property which can be booked individually or alongside each other for larger groups. Oak has two bedrooms accommodating four people with super king zip and link beds which can be set up as twins on request. There’s a bathroom with bath and shower over and in the lounge there’s a large double sofa bed for two additional guests and from here you can enjoy the lovely views over the nature reserve. In Ash, both bedrooms accommodate three people with super king zip and link beds which can be set up as twins on request, an extra day bed in one and a single in the other. Both properties have kitchen/diners with everything you’ll need including a dishwasher and coffee machine. Outside you will find shared facilities such as paths for walks around the large garden area, a very large deck with seating and a dining table where you can enjoy the peaceful surroundings overlooking the nature reserve and then there’s the lovely swimming pool area which is open between May and September. There is also a covered hot tub which can be booked out for private use, only available for children aged 12 years and up. Access to both apartments is via stairs, therefore unsuitable for wheelchair use or those with difficulty walking.

Bideford is the second largest town in North Devon with plenty to see and do with a lovely river front and port, which was once Britain’s third largest. Beaches, such as Westward Ho! and Instow are firm favourites locally and are less than 3 and 4 miles away respectively and the South West Coastal Path is a must for keen walkers & runners as is the popular Tarka Trail, which stretches for 180 miles and can be accessed via the same side of the river. It provides the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line by foot or bicycle, allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and river views and enjoy various treats along the way through Instow, Fremington Quay and onto Barnstaple, North Devon’s historical regional centre. Swimming, surfing, canoeing and entertainment for all the family plus fishing are all close by and the for a day with a difference why not take a trip across to Lundy Island? With regular trips from Bideford, you can enjoy the home to England’s first statutory Marine Nature Reserve, due to its unique flora and fauna. Measuring just 3 miles by ¾ mile, this entire island has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Westward Ho!, the nearest seaside village offers an array of seaside amenities including some fascinating curiosity shops and a range of restaurants and cafés. Within easy reach are two popular top attractions, The Big Sheep amusement farm park and if you fancy some high ropes, wall climbing, surfing or even a spot of coasteering, the Ultimate Adventure Centre is the place to visit! The beaches are a main attraction for many with surfer-friendly Westward Ho! and slightly further afield, award winning Saunton Sands, Woolacombe & Croyde are also a must for your itinerary. Being very close to the A39 Atlantic Highway, Bideford is conveniently located for day trips to other beautiful places such as Exmoor National Park with stunning dark skies for great star gazing & locations such as Clovelly, Hartland and North Cornwall.
