Situated within the Dartmoor National Park, set back from a beautiful, leafy stretch of the B3212 and a mile from Doccombe, these three, lodge-style properties (refs W43911, 28924), accessed via a track, are adjacent to the owners’ home. The holiday lodges lie in a lovely setting that offer a comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding area. There are 10 acres of beautiful, ancient woodland, complete with a stream winding its way through the land, plus an abundance of wildlife, ponds and granite boulders. A rich variety of plants and woodland flowers offer an idyllic haven for the resident wildlife. This is a brilliant area for walking, relaxing and star gazing as there is no light pollution. Nearby, a golf club and horse riding over Dartmoor are available. Being in the midst of Dartmoor, there are many superb walks, reservoirs, heather-clad tors and Dartmoor ponies. There are many places of interest for the whole family. If you are a keen walker, the Teign Valley is well known for its delightful woodland footpaths. It is an area of outstanding beauty and in the springtime, the Dunsford woods are famous for beautiful natural daffodils and a little later, a carpet of bluebells. This is a really dog-friendly area with some local dog-friendly beaches. The history of the cottage is amazing and was previously the village Drapery Shop. Enjoy glorious valley views from this stunning terraced holiday house, ideally located within the historic village of Hartland on the breathtaking North Devon coast. This stunning area has much to offer with the Heritage coastline being popular with walkers and bird-watchers, and the dramatic beach at Hartland Quay is just 2 miles away. There are numerous National Trust properties in the area, as well as the RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Docton Mill. Hartland Abbey is well worth a visit, along with the lighthouse at Hartland Point and even the shipwreck museum at Hartland Quay. The pretty village of Bradworthy is approximately 1 mile and has a pub, church, post office, butchers, general stores and a fish and chip shop. This is a superb location with something for everyone. Fishing, sailing, surfing, horse riding and mountain boarding are available locally, whilst the coastal resort of Bude, 9 miles, has fine sandy beaches and excellent surfing, as well as an 18-hole golf course, restaurants, gift shops and galleries. The Tamar Lakes are within a short drive, offering a variety of activities including walking, fishing, sailing, kayaking and windsurfing. Picturesque Clovelly, with its cobbled streets and donkey transport, is close by or for a day out, the famous Eden Project is within easy reach, as are many other family attractions including The Big Sheep and The Milky Way Adventure Park. Here you will find a friendly and welcoming local inn. Just 4 miles from the historic market town of Tavistock. Here you will find a good ranges and shops and local amenities plus some very interesting historical buildings and connections, and with a fabulous indoor pannier market. This cottage is a superb holiday home, warm and comfortable all year around, ideal for families and also for couples who want a tranquil peaceful location. From the garden there are lovely views up onto the moor and at night, the dark sky makes for excellent stargazing. If you’re the outdoor type, there are some fabulous walks and cycle routes along the Granite Trail and Lydford Gorge (National Trust). If you fancy something a little more adventurous, go out trekking from the local horse riding stables in the village of Mary Tavy. Centrally located midway between the North and South coasts, there are beaches at Bude and Westward Ho! that are well worth the drive. Other highlights are Drogo Castle (National Trust), Roadford Lake, Tarka Trails at Gunnislake and a day trip to Plymouth, with it rich naval history, has lots to offer visitors. Beach 18 miles. Also, clay pigeon shooting, air rifle and archery are available - these are run by a fully qualified instructor and all equipment is provided. The activities run on a Monday, Thursday and Sunday.
