Holly Lodge (27273) is a detached, spacious, 18th-century country house, and has been thoughtfully furnished to a good standard with a profusion of original features, which have been retained and restored. Whilst all three properties are set in substantial wooded gardens, with formal lawns, an orchard and patio areas, each property has their own private sitting-out area. The whole garden is surrounded by countryside and is very private and secure.
Cockermouth, 8 miles, has coffee shops, restaurants, gastro pubs, shops, cycle hire and art galleries. There are theatres in Keswick, Cockermouth and Whitehaven, all within easy reach and hosting musical and theatrical events all year. The small rural village of Aspatria, 2 miles, also has a small selection of shops. There is a public swimming pool in Cockermouth or you can have your own personal indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi and steam room (rented by the hour locally, it is recommended to book early), just 500 yards away from the properties. Fly fishing is available with a trout pond in Gilcrux, 2 miles, and the rivers Ellen in Aspatria, and Derwent in Cockermouth. The beach, lakes and fells are just a 15-minute drive away. The Old Forge is a sympathetically converted, detached 200-year old cottage retaining many character features, and has an enclosed garden. It has barn owls for neighbours - they nest in the adjoining barn!

Ennerdale Water and Wastwater, once voted ’Britain’s Best View’ and nearby Scafell Pike, are within easy driving distance. For a superb day out, Muncaster Castle also has beautiful gardens and an internationally renowned Owl Sanctuary, not to mention the amazing views from its elevated position. Set in an elevated position overlooking the beautiful Duddon Estuary, Peat House (ref W41088), a wing of the owner’s former farmhouse, and Moorside Lodge (ref W43062), a single-storey lodge which is situated in the ground of the owner’s farm, provide an idyllic holiday retreat, and have been lovingly furnished. This is an ideal base for a coastal holiday, and is also close to the south western Lake District Fells and Lakes. The village of Askam has a good range of shops and a railway station, where you can take a trip along the Cumbrian coast and through glorious countryside, with wonderful views. Grizedale Forest Dalton Animal Park, 4 miles, makes an excellent day out, with a variety of wild animals from around the world.
